1.5 Blocks from French Quarter, 2-BR, 2-Bath Historic Shotgun House
Minimum 29 nights required to book this property.
1.5 blocks from the French Quarter, this 850 square foot charmer has 12-foot ceilings, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, with a brand-new interior with a stunning crystal chandelier, and all modern amenities. High-end finishes and top-of-the-line appliances give you a luxury experience.
This 1913 Shotgun house has been lovingly restored in 2025-2026 using the same 200-year-old techniques used to construct the original houses in the French Quarter. The windows and doors were hand-crafted with mortise and tenons by a master carpenter, all to the French Quarter specifications for historic properties.
The streetcar stop is 1 block away, and you can ride through the Garden District up St. Charles Avenue for $1.25. Walk to Jackson Square, Bourbon Street, and all the great shopping and restaurants of the French Quarter as well as local favorites like Holy Diver. Cross streets are St. Bernard Ave and Rampart so you can orient yourself before you book this listing. St. Bernard Avenue is a party street, and there is often street noise and loud music. New Orleans is an urban city, and all that comes with a big city. Please be careful and use common sense, particularly after dark.
Please leave $100 in cash for the cleaners on the kitchen island before you leave.
Main bedroom has a king bed and en-suite bath with custom tiled shower.
2nd bedroom has a queen bed and a bathroom with a custom tiled shower. This bathroom also opens to the hallway.
Kitchen has a gas stove, dishwasher, microwave oven, wine fridge, and an LG refrigerator with filtered water and round ball craft ice maker. A reverse osmosis faucet gives you absolutely pure water, which also feeds the dedicated ice maker, which gives you crystal clear ice cubes for your cocktails and cooler. Quality cocktail and wine glasses round out the barware.
Plenty of toiletries, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, salt, pepper, dried spices, cling wrap, foil, Ziplock bags, and all the basics are included. This is not one of those places where you immediately need to go to the store and spend $100 on basics. Please replenish as necessary.
Full size washer and dryer.

St. Bernard is a party street. The street noise can be loud but generally stops by 11 pm. Sunday evenings are especially busy.
Laundry: Washer and dryer are in the closet off the back porch. The combination to the lock is 0-10-24. Laundry soap is under the kitchen sink. After you do a load, run the Vent cycle.
Ice Machine: Help yourself to ice. If it stops working or behaves oddly, let me know. The freezer has round craft ice in the lefthand top side. Reverse Osmosis Water System: The spigot to the right of the kitchen faucet dispenses pure, RO water. It also feeds the ice machine. The water and ice in the refrigerator door are filtered.
Liquor: Help yourself to any of the liquor, except the Blanton’s and the liquor in the bottom cupboard which is labeled "not for you," but please replenish any that you use. If you would like Blanton’s, you can purchase it at Total Wine in Metarie. First make sure it’s in stock.
Supplies, Pantry and Freezer: Help yourself to whatever is in the house. Please replenish what you use and let me know if something runs out.
No Smoking or Vaping: No smoking/vaping of any kind in the house or anywhere which could result in smoke smell inside the house. If you smoke, please do so outside. Dispose of smoking materials properly and without bringing any smoking debris inside. The evidence of smoking, smoking materials, or the smell of smoke inside the house will result in a $250 charge to your credit card.
Trash: Put the trash can in the street on Wednesday night. Pick up is early Thursday morning. Until the Recycling Bin arrives, Recycling is at Glass Half Full at 3935 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA 70126 open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 9-4 pm. They take glass, #1 & #2 plastics, and clean cardboard. Please rinse all containers (wash if necessary). The same rules apply for the recycling bin once it arrives, and it will also be picked up on Thursday morning.
Mardi Gras Display: The glass cabinet above the bar contains hand-decorated Mardi Gras throws. These are a coveted part of New Orleans culture, fragile, and damage to any piece will result in a $250 damage fee. Help yourself to any of the Mardi Gras beads in the gold Chevas Regal cup (free, enjoy).
Damage and Missing Items: Sadly, I’ve had problems with this in the past. Damaged and missing items will be charged to your credit card. I understand that accidents happen, and a broken plate or glass is no big deal. Just let me know. Missing TV remotes, silverware, Mardi Gras throws, etc. will be charged. Honestly, it’s been weird. Don’t be weird, please. If I’ve got something you can’t live without, please just ask. We can work something out.
The blue chairs are very old and I think those are coffee stains made by Great Aunt Opal, who was 4’9” and lived to be 106. They won’t come out and they’re not your fault.
Check Out Instructions: Please leave $100 cash on the kitchen island for the cleaning fee unless it was paid with the booking.
Put trash and recycling outdoors, in their respective bins.
Television: There are separate remotes for the TV, TV Sound, and DVD/Blu Ray player. The TV is slow to warm up and come on, but it will come on. Be patient.

New Orleans Tips: New Orleans is a fun city, but it is a city. Keep your wits about you, like you would in any large city. After dark, either drive or Uber/Lyft door-to-door.
The house is a block and a half from the French Quarter. Enjoy! There are lots of fabulous restaurants and stores. Most of the crime in the French Quarter is pickpockets and petty theft.
The streetcar is at the end of the block, in front of the beauty supply store. The fare is $1.25 and exact change required. There are quarters in a little bin on the counter. Or you can buy a 24-hour Jazzy Pass for $3. Download the RTA Le Pass app.

You will need reservations for most places. Read and adhere to the dress code or you’ll be wearing the sport coats kept in their coat room just in case people forgot to read the dress code.

If you want to hear great music, go to Frenchmen Street, not Bourbon Street. On Frenchmen Street you can wander from bar to bar and just pop in when you hear some music you like.
