Overall the stay was a good one. Our only complaint was the other guests staying on the property. On one night of pur stay, 2 of the men got into what seemed to be an argument. Then one of them slaughtered a rabbit. My grandson was terrified. We knew it was a working farm, I guess we didnt know we would see that.The host was amazing and the place is great for the money. The host cannot be responsible for what the other guests

Perfect little country getaway! We were vendors at the Virginia Renaissance Faire, and it was an easy drive from Lake Anna Winery to the property. The host was communicative and promptly answered any questions we had. We stayed in Unit A, which was well kept, well supplied, and the beds were very comfortable. Clean up requirements were also reasonable -- just stripping the linens and piling all of the dirty towels and sheets in one location, as well as taking out the trash to the garbage cans which were right beside the parking area. We loved watching the chickens move around the property, even if the rooster was noisy, as roosters usually are. He had us laughing all the time. The host also offered food options, which she delivered to the unit. We highly recommend the cheese sourdough!The stairs leading up to the unit were very steep, so I would not recommend this one for anyone with physical limitations, and it may be a struggle for small children with little legs. That was the only downside! We would definitely stay again.

We wanted a quiet getaway & our stay at the Allen Family Farm achieved that! The apartment was updated, with plenty of space for our family and pets. Our family enjoyed listening to the birds in the surrounding woods, watching the pigs & chickens, and taking time to disconnect. The kitchen was great, huge couch for lounging, and responsive hosts.A few things to note:-the apartment is on the 2nd floor of the building (adjacent to the owner's residence) and has a long set of steep wood stairs and our elderly dog could not go up and down the stairs. If there are mobility issues in your family, it would be a challenging to access.-the hot tub is located in the screened in porch of the owner's property, and it is an inflatable hot tub. Both of these two factors did not stop my kids from having a BLAST in the hot tub, but these details were a surprise. One of my favorite memories from the trip was sitting under the screened in porch while we listened to the rain and kids' laughter as they played in the hot tub.-Lake Caroline access. Without doing research prior to our stay, we didn't realize that Lake Caroline has limited (perhaps NO) access for non-residents. We tried a few different entries, and each had gated access for residents only. We ended up driving 30 minutes to Lake Anna which has beach access (for park fee).-Add ons. Sourdough, pets (100!), and the "fire pit kits" had additional charges.Overall, we enjoyed our peaceful, quiet stay.
