Spend your days hiking, fishing along Electra Lake, or hitting the slopes when you book your next mountain getaway to this Durango retreat. Boasting a private location, you'll have easy access to outdoor adventures and stunning tree-lined views.

Located six miles south of Purgatory Resort and a little over 21 miles north of Durango, you'll have a beautiful blend of privacy and convenience at your fingertips to make your stay stress-free.

The contemporary cabin decor is accented with charming bear characters and crafted wood pieces. Kick back on the soft leather couch while you check out what's on cable or watch a DVD on the flatscreen HDTV. Cuddle up by the wood-burning stove with a good book or your special someone. This gem of a cabin has a TV available in each bedroom.

Step out on one of the two decks to take in the stunning sights while you sip a tasty beverage. Stream some tunes over the WiFi as you slowly slip into vacation mode.

The galley-style kitchen features everything you need to keep your group fueled up and on the go. With plenty of room for a culinary assistant and a dishwasher to take care of the cleanup, creating your culinary delight will be a piece of cake. Eat at the wooden dining room table and then sip a nightcap on the deck to watch the stars come out. Fire up the outdoor grill to try out a favorite BBQ recipe that will please the whole crew. There is a spacious loft located just above the living room.

When the snow starts to fall, make the drive to Purgatory Resort. Offering a wide variety of downhill runs that cater to all skill levels, you won't have any trouble finding wintertime fun to delve into.

During the warmer months, you can hike the picturesque trails down to Electra Lake. Set up your rig, and make sure you pack a lunch, then set out for a day of fishing along the banks of the lake. Try your hand at catching a trophy-size trout. If not, you'll have plenty of time to come up with a good story before you head over to Steamworks Brewing for a few pints and a mouthwatering meal.

With so many opportunities to experience the wonders of the great outdoors, the only hard thing will be knowing where to start when you book your trip to this Colorado cabin.

Property was great. Awesome views of the mountains. I do wish the master bedroom had a king bed and a bit softer. Aside from that everything was great. The star gazing from deck was breathtaking.

Awesome location

Close to Purgatory, the house sits up on a cliff with amazing views! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again! My only complaint was that the grill was really dirty when we went to use it.

Great cabin and great location.

My only minor issue was I wish the temp control was a little easier to use/understand. It got a little warm at times, but we just cracked a window. Would highly recommend this place.

Great Thanksgiving @ Primrose

We were lucky enough to have nice sunny weather and a winter storm during our visit which changed the scenic views! The mud room was a huge plus. Definitely need a 4wd vehicle with snow. The house and amenities were great!

You cannot be the view

A week of down time for my wife and I. We have stayed in this area several times over the years but this cabin beats them all. The view off the south deck is unbeatable. Quiet, clean and just perfect for your stay. As a VRBO owner ourselves this is a A+++. We bounced between Durango and Ouray, doing Ouray 2 times and it was just perfect. If available book it. Great house perched literally on a cliff side. I couldn’t even go on one side of the deck my wife said the view was breathtaking but I’ll have to take her word for it as I’m not into that kind of thing!

Great cabin, view is OK but not wonderful

First of all, use the very accurate and detailed directions from the agent to get to the property. Google Maps has no idea where this is. The cabin was great and very well appointed. Nice decks except you really can't see much. Surrounded by other cabins but still peaceful and quiet. Great wifi and TV is every bedroom with DirectTV.

Great view but only so-so on size and privacy.

The good; The view from the deck is awesome. The living room is a great size and comfortable. The not so good; Tiny bedrooms with tiny beds. Even the master bedroom is hard for two people to get around in. I believe one bedroom was 8 x 9 feet. In addition, photos within the listing make the location of the home look remote and private. However, there are other homes close by, one of the homes is approximately 75 feet away.

Primrose cabin

The sewer smell was so bad we could not sit outside at all and enjoy the view. It got worse the longer we were there and got so bad we had to close off one of the bathrooms. I reported this issue immediately and never even got a phone call. The view is incredible but the smell isn’t worth it. Stay away.

The listing did not indicate that the cabin was not air conditioned. I’m sure not having ac is fine for some times of the year but during summer when the highs are above 90 and the house doesn’t cool down until around midnight makes for a very uncomfortable night for sleeping.Ceiling fans would have helped.The keypad was not easy to use. Even going very slowly the 5 would stick and then I had to start all over again. After 3 or 4 times of trying to open it was frustrating.Most places we have stayed have notebooks with instructions. It felt like every day we found another note with instructions.

Odors and Loud

The cabin itself is very nice but 2 things ruined the week for us: 1st problem was the smell. The sewer smell kept us from enjoying the decks from our arrival on Saturday through Wednesday afternoon (finally got the septic tank serviced). 4 days of a 7 day stay… 2nd problem was beyond the property management’s ability to remedy; THE HIGHWAY NOISE WAS BAD. I’m shocked that only one of the previous renters mentioned it in their review, because while the view is amazing the sound is unacceptable. Who wants to sit on a deck and listen to 18 wheelers use their engine brakes? We were even awakened a few times between midnight and 5 am when engine brakes were used (our windows were closed). I provided video/audio evidence to the local property manager, but obviously that’s beyond her control. I used an app that measures decibels and during the day it was between 60-70db; not terribly loud but absolutely distracting. I was unable to catch the sound levels of the trucks as they were sporadic and I wasn’t going to waste any more time trying to catch it, but it was substantially worse than the background noise of the cars. In fairness I should mention that the property manager offered to reimburse the cleaning fee. I accepted it but feel that future renters should be aware of the issues, especially the noise level. I’ve stayed in other properties along this valley that were closer to highway 550 yet noise levels were almost zero, I guess it has to do with how the valley walls direct sound. I actually asked about it via email when I made the reservation 2 months before arrival but they never responded and I never followed up.

We apologize that it took 4 days to get the septic tank cleaned out but we are sometimes at the mercy of the vendor's schedules. As you stated we have no control over the road noise but we do understand it affected your stay and we understand that was frustrating. We always want our guests to have a relaxing experience. Beautiful Views, Clean Cabin

Cabin views were breathtaking, and cabin was very clean. Check in was easy. I called when I got there to ask about parking as we came with a truck pulling a jeep on a trailer and there was a loft above the garage. After a call to the manager and the property management company after hours I never did get a call back. We just parked our trailer there and thankfully no issues! We would stay here again:)

Amazing vacation in the San Juan mountains!

This property is amazing! This was our first real family vacation in 3 years and this place did not disappoint! The pictures don’t do the cabin, or the location, justice. Amazing views in a great area! It was also in a great location situated just north of Durango it was a great launch point to go and check out Silverton and Ouray. It is also just a few miles from Purgatory ski resort, where we did an atv rental. Highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the Durango area.
