Living in history: Old School - Principal's flat
Summary:
Live history! Enjoy nature! Our historic schoolhouse was built in 1912 and served as elementary school until 1961. After a changeful history as military hospital and barracks, church, sports club home and vacantness, we now restore it as vacation accomodations with special charm. Some elements remind of the building's past as schoolhouse, the decoration honors the "Reformarchitektur" (German version arts and crafts style) around 1900. The principal's rooms have been entirely renovated in 2019.
The Space:
- Bedroom 1:
In the former principal's room which maintains the original hardwood parquet floor, you will find a big double bed (180cmx200cm) and a pullout daybed for a snuggy siesta in the afternoon or to sleep two more guests.
A desk with a vista over the wide landscape can be used for work or recording your vacation memories.
An enourmous oak wardrobe, originally from a castle en Luxembourg, offers ample space for baggage and clothes.
- Bedroom 2:
The second bedroom with original timber flooring has two single beds (90 cm x 200 m), a desk and an ample wardorbe.
- Bathroom:
The bathroom has been completely remodeled with a shower (90 x 90), vanity and mirror, hairdryer and power outlets.
- Kitchen/Living room area
A special highlight is the open concept living and room and kitchen area. Cook together and review the day over a glass of wine. Just relax reading a book on the sofa, update Instagram with travel impressions or watch a movie on the 55'' 4K smart TV. Everything can be done togehter. Nobody has to "disappear" in the kitchen to cook dinner. You can eat together directly on the XL-kitchen island in the center of the room.
-Pantry:
The pantry hides the washer and dryer..
Guest Access:
Guests have exclusive access to all parts of the apartment. They share the general stairwell of the building and the wide outside areas (terrace, roofed terrace, game grounds, lawn etc.) with other guests.
The Neighborhood:
The old schoolhouse is located in the borough Mötsch of Bitburg. It's a quiet neighbourhood that borders directly with the open landscape. The town center of Bitburg with cafes, stores, shops, restaurants and supermarkets is located at about 2 km. (1.2 miles). Our neighbours are the horse riding club and the local soccer field. Meeting locals? The sports club TuS Mötsch has its club home on the ground floor of our building and is looking forward to our guests stopping by for a beer.
