Amazing Family Getaway

This property is the perfect place for a family retreat! It has great access to restaurants, beaches and downtown shopping. Our favorite thing was sitting on the front porch at sunset looking at the amazing view of the Grand River. The Hosts are VERY attentive and responsive-which made the stay even more special. The property has everything you need for the river adventure including kayaks and fishing poles! We plan to come back again and again.

We had a wonderful time. Nice waterfront access with wildlife all around. Very peaceful location. Beautiful sunrise/sunsets. Close to many activities. Loved all the space on the deck to sit and relax.I would suggest updating decking- some actual holes in it and some screw heads sticking up where wood has broken away. Possibly clear some area of lillypads for swimming. We still enjoyed swimming, floating, & kayaking. Overall great vacation and would visit again.

Family Reunion

Beautiful, quiet scenery. My son enjoyed kayaking everyday, and the porch was big enough to grill out and host 15 of our local Michigan family members for lunch. Lovely venue.

Spacious Waterfront Family Retreat

The Grand River retreat exceeded our expectations. There was everything you would need for a family. Location was great...close to downtown Grand Haven. Sunrises and sunsets on the river were spectacular! We loved it. We loved kayaking and checking out the wildlife on the river.

Fantastic spot

We loved staying on this property. It was so spacious and clean. Very well stocked, and the location was ideal! About 10 minutes from everything. It was perfect for a family of 6, with a pet. Everyone got to go fishing and kayaking from the backyard. Grill was available and ready for the salmon the boys caught during a charter fishing trip. We would definitely book with the home again!

River House

The accommodations were clean and well maintained. The house was spacious and accommodated the five people in our party very well. It was a short drive to all of the attractions in grand Haven that we wanted to visit. Our only suggestion is that they upgrade the mattresses, as most were not firm enough. Overall, I would highly recommend this property.

Relaxing stay on the lake

This was the second time we rented this property for our family. It was again the perfect choice for us -- convenient drive to downtown Grand Haven and shopping while providing peace and relaxation on the lake. We made good use of the kayaks and saw bald eagles, hawks, herons, other waterbirds, and even deer during our paddles. One evening we even stayed up and saw the Northern Lights from the patio. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. We plan to stay here again next summer. Thanks!

Wonderful week at Grand River Retreat

The house and its environment were exactly what we hoped for. The house was clean and quiet with all the amenities we wanted, including a new outdoor grill and cornhole equipment. I loved kayaking on the Grand River almost everyday, seeing cranes, herons, many smaller birds and even beavers. This section of the Grand River is quite nice -- boats passing by but mostly peaceful. Our 3 year old granddaughter visited and loved playing on the patio. The location is very convenient for driving to downtown Grand Haven, and Grand Rapids is also convenient. I totally recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a relaxing time that is still near beaches and tourist attractions. The owners were responsive and very easy to work with. Thanks!

beautiful home and location

We were in town to visit family and loved this home and its location. We loved that this home was not in the downtown GH area and we loved that it had an amazing location on the river. It was a bit difficult to find the driveway the first few times (the flower wasn't by the road as in the pictures) but we soon got used to it and looked for the telephone pole with reflectors. The home is beautifully decorated. There is ample room throughout the home. The beds are very comfortable. Communication with the host was quick and easy and they were able to accommodate our request for an early check in. We spent a lot of time out on the deck enjoying the views and the property. We would have appreciated a little more shade in the afternoons but the time of our visit presented beautiful weather and we were able to enjoy it thoroughly. The deck chairs and tables that were provided were wonderful (even the little ones for our toddler - so cute)! We also enjoyed the geese and bunnies that visited everyday. The dock was under repair so we did not venture onto it or use the kayaks. We would love to stay here again! one thing to note: one bathroom is upstairs and the other is downstairs. The upstairs bathroom has the bathtub. The bathtub is a deep soaking tub which made bath time with our toddler a bit interesting but doable.

Perfect vacation

Well stocked for linens and kitchen items. Plenty of space and a great deck to relax on and watch the boats go by. Close to stores and to an awesome beach. A lot of fun located nearby.

Perfect Relaxation Spot on the River

This house was a great find on VRBO. I found the house to be as shown in pictures. It is nicely situated down a covered drive about an 1/8th of a way off the main road so no road noise. The house has a nice open feel, very clean, and fully stocked with towels, cleaning products, vacuum, iron, and linens (extra blankets available too), pots/pans and utensils, and a regular coffee pot. The host, Chris was reachable and responded right away if we needed anything. My friend and I enjoyed the farmers markets, blueberry markets, hudsonville ice cream, drive-in theater in Muskegon, hikes in the many parks around, scenic beach's in Grand Haven, South Haven, and Holland. We had a nice dog park within a 5 minute drive where the dogs could run to their hearts content off leash. I could not have asked for a better location to decompress and just chill. The location was so peaceful. I enjoyed watching all the animals come out in the evening (Deer, Bunny's, Opossum, Ground Hog, and Turtles). A few grocery stores are within a few miles (Meijer/D&W/WalMart). I would recommend visiting the CrossRoads Blueberry Market on Lake Michigan Drive (not far from house). The blueberry Pie and coffee cake were amazing! I would definitely recommend this location if you need some peace and quiet and some adventure in the near by cities.

So relaxing

This cottage was very relaxing I worried I would be bored by a river view but it was fascinating to see all the boat and birds. Though the view was not straight on the colors in the sky and across the tree line was beautiful. Nice having French doors in the bedroom. Nice view great tv and beds. Could use reading lights in the bedrooms. But everything else was outstanding. We needed an accessible place and this was as advertised: easy for my husband on a scooter.

Charming Riverfront Vacation Rental

Loved just chilling and watching all the boats go by from our front deck and the lovely wall of windows that faced the river. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The beds were comfy to sleep in too! Not too far from the beach and some really nice state parks. The time went by too fast!

Great stay

We enjoyed our stay at this house located on the river. The view was spectacular. The house is as pictured and perfect for what we needed. The kayaks were a plus. It is a short drive into town or the grocery store. We hope to stay again the next time we come to this area.

Family getaway

The property was very clean and had more than we expected. Very spacious. Comfortably slept 8 adults. Loved being right on the river. Proximity to Lake Michigan is perfect! Owners have everything there that you need. Would definitely stay here again!

Paradise in Grand Haven

Amazing property. It was sooooo clean, great location-close to shopping, marinas, downtown, etc. Very peaceful-neighbors close on both sides but they were very quiet. Have already recommended to friends and family!

Great little place

Close to everything we wanted to do. Clean and comfortable. Was perfect for our family of five. Could’ve easily had the basement for the kids and upstairs for another adult couple. We fished off the dock and caught bass and bluegill. Couple of things, hard to find at night. Pay attention to the phone pole picture; we drove into two of the neighbors driveways before finding it. Bring beach towels. They have games and toys for the kids. Gas station 100ft away for those easy “emergency” trips. 5 min to Walmart. 10 min from Downtown. Excellent vacation, will be back.
