I love Jekyll but this property is overpriced

Check in was confusing bc I was sent a link to the check in info that didn’t work, so I had to call only to learn that someone would call later. When we left I had to return “keys” to a realty company, even though there is a lockbox on the door. Not enough outlets…lamp next to bed wouldn’t reach outlet. TV in master not viewable from bed.

Nice place, nice time with a couple of niggles

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very clean and comfortable unit. The company's goodie bag with extra toilet paper, paper towels and dish detergent and pods was an especially nice and welcome touch.The niggles: It is hard to understand how the cleaners could ignore the broken fruit drawer in the fridge. There was, also, a broken drop down shelf on the separate coffee stand. The only glasses were 16 oz tumblers -- fine for water, less so for juice, cocktails or wine.Overall, we enjoyed our time quite a bit.

Lovely location; confusing management; construction

We went there because we stayed at the Villas when we got married on Jekyll 18 years ago, and we wanted our kids to stay there, too. The unit is a great size and easily accommodates a family of 6. It is walking distance to the beach and pool. Having a kitchen (unlike a hotel) is a huge bonus. The unit was clean, except for a random hair left in a shower and the remnants of guests past (hairbows, clothing tags, etc. in drawers and such--usually not my experience with a hotel). (As others have said, the kitchen table is sticky. I tried so hard =)) At check-in, the front desk clerk at Villas told us the wrong name of the building so we drove around looking for it. At one point, we had a key malfunction. The only big disappointment was the linens issue. Perhaps we did not read the fine print. By the time we needed new towels, we called the office at the Villas, and we were told they would bring the items we requested. Later, they called back and said, because of how we booked, they did not provide any linen service, and we needed to launder the towels ourselves if we needed them again. This would not have been a problem if it were not our next to last day or if there were a washer/dryer in the unit. There are not. There are ones on property. The pool was nice...except for the super loud and dusty construction! There was construction throughout the place. 10:00 AM is a difficult checkout when you are expected to take out all your trash, have dishes washed and put away, etc. Overall, we enjoyed the stay. The condo met our needs.

Villa not what we have become accustomed to

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This villa has little view of the ocean, no access to the beach at high tide. Yes we were told prior there would be construction going on at the villas, yet it was quite annoying sounds, workers, debris around, etc. Our dog was accepted but an apartment like is is not preferable to having a yard. Also the door opened by itself (you need to get it perfectly latched) so the dog escaped several times, which was frightening for us and the door was wide open for the public to come in and help themselves. Guests should be warned about this!! Jekyll Realty was very responsive to our needs but Villas by the Sea staff was unhelpful when it came to our room! The steps were quite steep which winded us older generation every time becoming tiresome compared to renting houses. The balcony position did not allow sun, so sitting there to enjoy the outdoors was futile. We love Jekyll Island, staying 20 times over the. years. I would recommend this for younger folks with kids. We discovered Horton Pond close across the street, we never knew before, fund to see gators. Always enjoy golfing. Fishing with Captain Eric was new this year and a great time. Although the winds were not favorable for fishing, dolphin came right up to the boat, we saw sharks, crab traps, were given way more information regarding the island and the surrounding islands history than we had ever gotten before, it wads great fun. I would suggest to anyone this more personal way of being on the water if you can afford it!!! Pizza we had from Red ? (behind the miniature golf) was excellent!! In the Historic District we love the Art Gallery, gift shops and fudge/candy store, yummy! Filming was taking place for the musical, The Color Purple on driftwood beach and will be released in 2022, produced by Steven Spielberg. I am excited to see the film where I can recognize this beautiful area of the island. We always visit St. Simons and took a short trip to Savannah.

Wont stay in this unit again

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is second visit to this unit: 456. Love Jekyl, and its location is good (not ocean view). Unit is deterioirating, and needs overall renovation: flooring, electric, and bath and kitchen.Specifics: no measuring cup, no wine glasses, plug in bath blew out electric dental device, no handle for small sauce pan, HVAC musty smells.

Island Dream in June

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great experience bringing our dog to the beach and staying in Island Dream. The unit is laid out well and was spacious for our party of 5. I liked that the upstairs bedroom had a vanity in the room so that we could make the most out of sharing the upstairs bathroom and still have space for getting ready in our room. We cooked in one night, used the charcoal grill and picnic area near the boardwalk area once, and had adequate dishes and serving pieces. There are no wine glasses or cork screw in the unit but that's not a big deal. We never found availability to use the beach at all - except for about half an hour one day. We just couldn't get the timing down, and even a short time after low tide, there was still no beach, but the drive to the public beach is so easy. We enjoyed dining at Driftwood Bistro and not having to drive anywhere for dinner. The pool is wonderful and had some shade at all times of the day. The only critique I would offer is that the carpet is terribly stained on the steps and the downstairs bedroom and should really be replaced with a more clean-able option. The living room furniture is also a bit stained and worn down but this didn't interfere with our enjoyment of the property! We'd definitely stay again!

Dog-friendly....but....

Reviewer Comments: As people who have traveled to Jekyll Island many times with our dogs, we truly appreciate those rentals that are pet friendly, but this villa was extremely dirty. The carpet was soiled and even felt crusty to walk on (why have carpet where pets are allowed?) The tile floors were dirty, especially the grout, and there was no mop that we could have cleaned with.

Annual family beach week

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Over the past 10 years, we've enjoyed our family beach weeks in SC, FL, and now GA. We loved Jekyll Island and the Villas by the Sea. We could not have asked for a better agency than Jekyll Realty. Our villa lost AC mid-week, and Jekyll Realty was able to have it repaired the same day. The villa was the perfect sized for 6 guests, very clean, and the pet-friendly option allowed Maverick to join us for his first beach vacation. We highly recommend the Villas by the Sea and Jekyll Realty. From our first internet reservation contact to our pre-trip questions and to handling the inevitable issues that go with travel, Jekyll Realty was friendly and helpful throughout. We will definitely be back.

the villa is in a great location, loved the onsite restaurant. the villa does need a deep cleaning, there was mold in the shower and the shower curtain needed replacing. could use a fresh coat of paint.

Awesome, as always!!!

We have been visiting Jekyll for my entire life with our church. This stay was awesome just like always. Villas by The Sea while an older establishment is still clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. This was the first time we went through the realty but their staff was super nice and friendly. Also, very helpful as we were locked out and they came very quickly to let me back in. I would definitely recommend and will do this again.

Nice quiet condo

Nice clean location and staff at Jekyll Realty were great. Can walk to Driftwood Bistro for amazing dinner. Nice pool, across from Horton Pond and Driftwood Beach. Fun area.

May 2021 Stay

We were disappointed in the overall condition of the property. The dining table was extremely sticky. Tried to clean it several times to no avail. The decks are very small and were dirty upon arrival. There were numerous holes in walls and repairs that are necessary. NO wine glasses.
