Le Caillau, gîte de luxe avec restaurant et piscine privée chauffée dans les vignes

Le Caillau est un gîte de deux chambres situé au cœur du magnifique vignoble de Cahors. Notre restaurant sert des plats sur votre terrasse privée ou dans notre cour fermée. Les vues depuis le gîte donnent sur les vignes vallonnées de la région de Malbec à Cahors. Nous avons une piscine privée chauffée et une aire de jeux pour enfants dans le jardin. En plus de notre restaurant, nous avons un café avec un atelier de peinture sur poterie. Le café sert du café fraîchement moulu et une sélection de thés et de vins locaux tout au long de la journée, ainsi qu'une sélection de gâteaux faits maison. L'emplacement est idéal pour des vacances à pied, à vélo et pour visiter les vignobles de la région. La plupart des meilleurs de la région se trouvent à notre porte. Le gîte dispose d'un poêle à bois pour les mois d'automne / hiver.

Le gîte du Caillau fait partie d'un domaine viticole vieux de 300 ans. Notre gîte a un accès privé au jardin arrière qui est entouré des vignes du Château du Gaudou. Il y a un accès voiture privé à l'arrière du gîte. La façade du gîte s'ouvre sur la cour où se trouve notre restaurant et café.

Vous avez un accès complet au terrain, idéal pour les petits ou les promenades au coucher du soleil dans les vignes.

Notre gîte est situé au milieu des plus belles vignes de la région de Cahors. La terrasse orientée à l'ouest est parfaite pour regarder le soleil se coucher tout en dégustant un verre de vin local. Les commerces locaux sont à 5 minutes en voiture.

Un parking privé est disponible à côté de l'entrée de votre gîte. Il est à 5 minutes en voiture des magasins les plus proches (banque, pharmacie, supermarché, médecins, etc.), mais quelques vignobles sont accessibles à pied si vous souhaitez goûter le vin local. Nous avons un restaurant et un café sur place afin que vous ne soyez jamais pris au dépourvu.

Notre restaurant est ouvert tous les jours sauf le mardi toute l'année (tous les jours en juillet et août). Notre café sert du café fraîchement moulu et une sélection de thés, du vin local, de la bière, des boissons sans alcool et une sélection de gâteaux faits maison. Nous avons également un atelier de peinture sur poterie où vous pourrez vous détendre et faire preuve de créativité. veuillez noter que la poterie prend 3 jours à glacer et à cuire au feu, donc laissez suffisamment de temps pendant votre séjour

The Gite with a gourmet touch!

A wonderful location amongst the vines near Cahors. The host and hostess could not have been more accommodating in all respects. To have ones gourmet lunch serve to your gite table was a unique treat. Apart from our personal preference for additional lighting in the lounge for reading, one can't fault the accommodation and all it offers. Thoroughly recommended. Paul & Meryl, UK

Stunning property in fantastic location for a relaxed holiday

We absolutely loved our stay at Le Caillau and found the property perfect for our needs. Being next to the fabulous restaurant meant we could enjoy delicious lunched and dinners without having to travel - ideal with a toddler! The goats, chickens and trampoline were much enjoyed by my daughter whilst we loved ambling through the vines to the various Chateaus for wine tasting. Caroline and Chas were exceptional hosts, happy to answer questions and deliver coffee and croissants in the morning, which was a lovely touch! The area itself is stunning and extremely peaceful which was most welcome in the evenings! Unfortunately we couldn't use the pool much due to the weather. I'd say it's not 'heated' in the way we would interpret that in the UK, as it's solar panel operated so dependent on the sun. That being said it didn't impact our holiday. Overall we were so happy with the place and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone (already have)!

What a unique property in the vineyards of the South of France

This gite is located in the heart of the Cahors region of Southern France and set in the middle of a vineyard. It consists of an open plan kitchen and diner, going through to a lounge, off of which comes the large main bedroom and a large bathroom with a free standing bath and large shower which is open rather than enclosed. There is a smaller attic room accessed up some steep wooden steps in the lounge, which contains a large skylight window. The gite is truly authentic and in keeping with other typical French buildings in the area. It is located within an enclosed courtyard and is attached to a restaurant and an on site pottery painting cafe is located across the courtyard. There is absolutely no noise at all from the restaurant during opening hours therefore it caused us no concern. The final building located just off the enclosed courtyard is the owners home, Chas and Caroline, who manage the gite, restaurant and pottery cafe. They are extremely helpful and very informative about the local area. When we discovered a couple of issues within the gite, they immediately rectified these and supplied us with a few additional utensils for the kitchen that made our self catering holiday easier. The private garden to the rear of the gite is extensive and there is not only an enclosed private pool for your use, there is also some play items if you are going with children and there is plenty of outside seating options. There is also a garden dining table and 4 chairs located just outside the gite for some alfresco dining. Just to the side of the gite there is a beautiful seating area looking directly into the vineyard which can be accessed through the main bedroom patio doors. To the far side of the garden, there is a small holding which contains a couple of chickens and 2 very friendly goats, Rocky and Daisy. They love fruit peelings and lots of fuss so be sure to pay them a visit. Le Caillau is surrounded by many vineyards which are worth visiting, in particular Clos Triguedina which is a 1.5 mile walk from Le Caillau, the wine is exquisite and the tour both informative and interesting. Le Caillau Restaurant is simply a hidden gem and although we chose to only eat here once during our stay, the atmosphere, service and menu is a credit to Chas and Caroline. We holidayed here with another couple, no children and found plenty to do in the region, a car is essential to get further afield. PS...Do the pottery painting if you can, it’s great fun!!

As soon as we first saw Le Caillau in September 2008 we knew that this was the property we had to buy. A 300 year old winery set in the heart of the best Cahors vines, it’s a peaceful location yet still close to many small villages and towns with plenty of activities on offer for holidaymakers.

Having both worked in London’s fast-paced marketing world for many years, we like a challenge and this is certainly a challenge albeit of a different kind and on a different scale. Along with our two girls Evie and Lilah we have thrown ourselves into French life, picking up the local dialect, haggling with local artisans and enjoying far too much local wine and cheese.

We have transformed Le Caillau into a unique destination both for locals and holidaymakers with the Café & Pottery Painting Atelier plus the luxury gite.

Le Caillau was love at first sight for us – we think it will be for you too.
