Very spacious, stunning character detached villa with large 48m2 L shaped heated pool in a lovely, quiet, scenic location on the outskirts of a quaint village, near Obidos. Remote controlled entrance gates, secure walled garden. All furnishings are of a high standard. Double bedrooms have high quality mattresses and sheets. Garden corner sofa, parasols. Dining table seats 8. Balcony table for 6 and patio table for 8 with 8 sun loungers. Beach chairs, buckets and spades. Garden hammock. Internal features include a bean to cup coffee machine, American fridge freezer with ice maker, jacuzzi bath and multijet shower. Table tennis table, mini bar football, Nintendo switch on a separate games room tv. Board games/ books, dvds. Main bedroom is huge, 19 x 18ft having patio doors opening on to the pool area. Vineyards to the rear with delightful views to the front and sides. Near to the highly regarded Mae d' Agua restaurant.
We have
high speed fibre internet. We provide Netflix and an Amazon fire stick with prime subscription.
The village is very pretty and a touch of authentic Portugal.

Lovely Villa in a quiet location, but with Bombarral about five minutes away for shops etc. Obidos and Caldas nearby so no need to venture far, especially if the weather is nice- just stay at home and enjoy the pool.

An Idyllic place to unwind

We had a lovely peaceful week at the villa, a real home from home (but with a pool!) Plenty of space and all the amenities you could want. The pool was amazing, and great fun was had by all. Beautiful views from the balcony as the swallows swooped & soared in the early evening warmed the soul. The Buddha gardens, which you can see from the balcony, are well worth a visit as is Óbidos. We hope to return in the not too distant future.

Lovely spacious villa

A lovely generous size property, more than adequate for our group, 4 adults and 2 teenagers. The villa is clean and very well equipped, the pool is a great size. Super views from the balcony. The location is great with easy access to beaches within a 20-25 minute drive. Óbidos is just 10 minutes away. There is a lovely small restaurant and bar (Tables) within walking distance, it provides decent food and drink at a very reasonable price. A car in this area is a necessity. Communication with the owner, Colin was great, we had a great stay!

Lovely villa in a great location

We had a lovely week in Colin's Villa in Carvalhal. The villa is well equipped and left us wanting for nothing while we were there. There is plenty of space for the 9 people who were in. More than enough sun beds and space to sit at meal times. Colin is a great host, who couldn't be more helpful (not that we needed any assistance while we were there). The area is great with some great beaches, lovely towns close by and Lisbon is easily accessible. Overall, we had a great time in Carvalhal and can thoroughly recommend this villa and the area.

An amazing villa, beautiful inside and with really lovely garden and pool

This is a quality villa, extremely well appointed interior, with excellent bathrooms and comfortable beds. There is an upper terrace with delightful views over the surrounding countryside, which can accommodate 4 people for evening drinks or a light meal and the lower terrace by the pool is great for larger numbers BBQs etc. The property is ideally located with easy access to airport (Lisbon), excellent supermarkets, easy travel to many fantastic sites and beaches. Local restaurants are really good and those at the coast offer fantastic seafood. We take a villa most years in various European countries and this was one of the best - Thank you Colin, Karen and of course Maria. We will be returning!

April wedding

The house is lovely, peaceful and quiet location, it’s packed full of everything you need or want, comfy beds and a well stocked kitchen, with some nice friendly kind touches. The care package was invaluable as we arrived late on Easter Saturday. The pool was spotless and lovely, with gorgeous gardens and plenty of space. Colin was a delight to deal with, lots of hints and tips on the area, he made it feel like home from home. Thanks Colin. We just wish we had more time to spend there. We’ll definitely be back S

Carvalhal stay

The property was well appointed and with the very warm weather we preferred to use of the balcony and terrace by the pool rather than the indoor dining table. We made full use of the bean-to-cup coffee machine and the ice dispenser. The heated pool was very welcome and our granddaughter [6] would have stayed in all fortnight if given the chance. She particularly enjoyed the use of all the inflatable equipment provided. The house contained a very detailed description of local restaurants and amenities. We visited Tables, [twice], Supathra Thai and Mae d'Agua and enjoyed all our local meals. This is an area of Portugal that we like and we would not hesitate to stay in this property again.

The Perfect Villa to Experience Beautiful Portugal

The villa is perfectly located to experience both the splendor of historical sites such as Obidos, Lisbon and Sintra but also the more authentic 'real' Portugal of rolling green vineyards, small villages (with unique traditions) and friendly people. The villa itself has a lovely pool and great bedrooms decorated beautifully. You get the feeling the owners really want you to enjoy your holiday as they provide you with a wealth of great information on attractions, local restaurants, walks, etc. The villa is also well stocked including books, dvds, games, XBox, beach equipment, internet, amazing coffee machine, ironing board, almost everything! It is highly recommended to make the most of the lovely walks available around the villa and local area as it really is a gorgeous place. We particularly enjoyed Obidos town and Obidos lagoon which we went to a number of times. This villa is highly recommended, we thoroughly enjoyed it! (Stayed Sept 2016).

Carvalhal review

Beautiful house in a great location. We travelled as a family of 6 adults and 2 kids and it was our first time in Portugal together. The house was prefect for us with big rooms and plenty of indoor and outdoor space, which allowed us not to get under each others feet. Our 5 year old Grandson particularly loved the heated pool and his introduction to table tennis on the table in the garage. The well equipped kitchen allowed us to make our own meals and we also made use of the outdoor BBQ. We thought the area was fantastic with plenty to do and Colin and Karens clear recommendations of places to visit, restaurants, beaches etc helped us make the best use of our time. We couldn't be happier with the communication and arrangements for our stay and are already looking for an opportunity to visit again.

Beautiful views

Stayed as a 2 family group of 8 and villa is perfect for giving the room needed to stay together but not on top of each other. It’s a well equipped kitchen and plenty of games/toys for kids in the games room. We had a couple of problems when we arrived , (a symptom of the villa being older & well used) with a ceiling light & door needing repair but Colin & Karen were great and sorted both very quickly. Also the pool needed attention more than once during our stay & again owners responded quickly. The pool man attended to switch heating back on each time & check water quality so although it was annoying I can’t fault their response. The area is very rural and has beautiful views, in walking distance there is a small restaurant ‘ o largar’ I’d recommend. The food was delicious & service really friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us. We enjoyed our holiday and happy with the villa, although found the area too remote with not enough variation for trips out & therefore wouldn’t return. Thank you for your comments. We were really sorry for the pool issues while you were at the house. Before you arrived, we had a power trip to the pool heating and filter system which meant that they were not running for 3 days(The initial trip coincided with a storm and had not been a continuing problem). This resulted in a cloudier pool than normal and took a few days to return to normal clear conditions. During this period the pool remained in usable condition, ph levels being check by our pool man regularly. The power tripped a second time and we investigated further. By careful monitoring of the pools clarity and temperature it is now in perfect conditions. To prevent any further problems the pool filter system and sand filters are being replaced at the first opportunity in 3 days, between guests. As to the more minor issues, a light shade retainer had to be replaced and we needed to adjust a door. First problems of their type but quickly resolved. Why do things come in threes? I would like to put your comments in context as it is easy to assume that these events happen more frequently and do not get dealt with. This is not the case. We Try to spot any potential problems before they happen. When we occasionally encounter a problem when a guest is at the house we respond quickly, as I think you recognised and resolve any issues as quickly as humanly possible. If work needs to done or money spent to correct an issue, it is provided. This is the first time we have received a 3 star review and of course we are very disappointed. Sometimes problems occur and equipment needs to fixed. It's a fact of life. The house is not old (14 years) and is well maintained. The string of 5 star reviews are there for a reason and we take pride in keeping our house in very good order.

Maison au TOP !

Très belle maison, propre, spacieuse avec un extérieur parfaitement entretenu. Elle possède de nombreux couchages, une superbe cuisine avec de l'électroménager neuf. Une superbe TV avec tout ce qu'il faut en terme de chaines (anglaises, portugaises, Netflix, Prime etc) pour passer une soirée tranquillement assis dans les canapés ou pour les enfants. Il y a de la place pour stationner plusieurs véhicules. Pour les enfants (et les grands) tout est prévu ! Piscine, barbecue (juste dommage qu'il soit un peu à l'écart), table de ping pong etc. Nous avons rencontré Léna qui nous a dépanné rapidement pour le linge de maison, et le monsieur de l'entretien de la piscine, très sympa et pourvoyeur de nombreuses informations de visites. Les propriétaires sont vraiment adorables, à l'écoute et.... compréhensif suite à un soucis que nous avons eu avec le frigo. Encore merci Karen et Colin, vous êtes au TOP ! En gros, vous pouvez réserver les yeux fermés, vous ne serez pas déçus ;)

Superb Property

We have stayed at many self catering properties. This is simply the best. Really well equipped with fantastic attention to details from the owners. Very spacious, lovely gardens and pool with games room. Easy location close to motorway so quick access to beach, Obidos and lagoon.

A brilliant escape

We had a wonderful time with our two little children (6mo and 3yrs). Everything that we needed was at the property, and there was a perfect little lawn for our little people to play on away from the pool. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was really well set up and all in all the house was ideal for our escape from the world. The village is sweet with loads of walks through surrounding orchards, and an easy trip to so many beaches and things to do for both adults and little people. We are very grateful to Colin and Karen for being such brilliant hosts from a distance.

Comfortable house in the heart of wine country

The five of us really enjoyed our stay here. The house is very well equipped and spacious. There is tons to do in the local area and it is very convenient to get around and get to the highway. Colin was very responsive to all our needs and gives you lots of information and advice on local attractions. The pool area is lovely and the upper balcony has wonderful views and is a great place to have a glass of wine. We would definitely consider staying here again and would highly recommend it.

Villa in a lovely quiet area with beautiful views.

This is a huge house! As a group of 6 adults, (3 sisters and husbands) there was plenty of room inside and outside of the house for us to have lots of time together as a family group and also apart if we needed it. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfy and it was very clean. The heated pool was fantastic! There was a slight problem at the start of the holiday when the pool heating wasn't working but as soon as we contacted Charlie (the pool man) it was quickly sorted. There are loads of pool toys and a very well equipped games room. The upstairs balcony was perfect for evening drinks and the views are stunning! Its a bit remote if you don't hire a car (we didn't want to drive, we went to relax) but Colin was very helpful in sending us information about transfers from the airport , David Taxi was spot on, he was there to collect us when we landed and again right on time to take us back to the airport. We couldn't recommend Tony Oliveria, a local taxi driver highly enough, he's english speaking and very informative about the area. There is a local bus service which we used but there are only a couple of buses a day, so plan your trip in advance. We had some beautiful local walks through orchards and grape vines from the village, its difficult to get lost if you keep the beautiful village church in your sights! Obidos and Bombarral are both well worth visiting, apart from being beautiful, they have great supermarkets and very cheap food. The Portuguese wines are very reasonable, a 1litre carafe of very good red wine in a restaurant in Bombarral was very good value! The Buddha Eden gardens are a must to visit, so peaceful and calm and the food/wine is amazing! All in all, a wonderful relaxing holiday! Thank you Colin for all your help, before and during our trip, also to Charlie and Maria for your help whilst we were there. Obrigarda!

We are Karen and Colin with two grown up sons. We live in a rural part of Staffordshire, England.
We love the Silver Coast area of Portugal as it's real authentic old fashioned Portugal, with a local friendly safe environment. There are many local wineries producing excellent and reasonable red and white wines. Our sons love holidays at the house especially the pool, our table tennis table, the karting track at Bombarral, and the beaches.

We love this region of Portugal. The Silver Coast combines great beaches with good surfing, interesting towns and historical sites, many wineries producing excellent wines and restaurants offering great food. Essentially it ticked all the boxes. Having visited the Algarve many times. We decided we preferred the Silver Coast and began a hunt for our property. We wanted a peaceful, attractive location close enough to the major attractions.

We have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure our guests are well informed about the best restaurants, beaches, beautiful places to visit. We have made our Villa completely home from home, we have a superbly equipped kitchen, games, beach chairs/ wind breaks etc
