We had a lovely stay. Everything went very smoothly. Vikki, the host was very helpful both with answering any queries we had, and also recommending activities and restaurants. The cottage was clean and very well equipped. The pool and garden area was spacious and peaceful.

Great 2 weeks

From the minute we arrived with the lovely welcome pack, we had a great 2 weeks holiday. The house was perfect in terms of size, location and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a great stay. We got great tips from Sue on events and music in the area. We ate out in the local pizza restaurant and in the restaurants in the port. We loved the huge garden and the pool. We'd love to come back again!

Relaxing

A beautiful house maintained to a high standard and equipped with all that you need for your holiday any time of the year. Situated on the edge of the village its very tranquil with a large garden with mature shrubs to ensure you privacy around the pool and patio (a little breezy at times). The village of Mortgane is very unassuming with shops, bakeries, butcher etc and a selection of welcoming restaurants and bars to eat and drink looking over the small harbour. A good base to tour the area or excellent relaxing holiday with every you need on your doorstop.

Wonderful stay at La Sauvagette! We loved staying at this comfortable gîte in the gorgeous village of Mortagne-sur-Gironde. Vikki and Andrew were wonderful hosts, very helpful and friendly. The house had everything we needed, clean and well stocked with everything needed for self catering holiday including charcoal BBQ.The garden was lovely with great views across the vineyards. Pool was clean and warm and enjoyed by us all. Plenty of sun loungers and seats. Garden box had inflatables, brollies and beach towels.Village is fab with lots of restaurants within walking distance, butchers, boulangerie, pizza, mini super market. 15 min walk down to port with lovely restaurants and few bars and a weekly market.We will definitely return!

Very Relaxing Holiday

The property is set in an unspoilt village and is within walking distance of a few small shops. The house overlooks vineyard and countryside and has a pleasant swimming pool in the garden. The layout of the house makes it ideal for a couple or family. It is very clean and everything exceeded our expectations. We were sorry to have only booked one week as we would have enjoyed a longer stay. There are several small towns and good beaches within a short drive and we had no difficulty in finding restaurants locally. Overall, thank you to the owners for keeping good standards throughout. No problem in recommending this to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing French holiday.

lovely well equipped property in good location

We enjoyed our September stay in this lovely spacious property. The whole property was large and stylish with attention to detail which is lovely for a rental property. It was great having such reliable wifi and British TV for the darker evenings. We would recommend it to anyone looking for peace and quiet but still have access to amenities. Great to be able to wander into the village for a baguette or bottle of wine!! The pool was lovely and given the time of year was heated to a nice temperature! The area is beautiful for walking or cycling with Mescheurs a particular favourite. Local restaurants served good food at reasonable prices with loads of fish on the menu which was a delight!! Would highly recommend.

Fantastic Holiday

We had a fabulous week at the property. 6 of us there, plenty of room in the house and a superb garden. Pool was perfect for the weather, with a large garden overlooking vineyards. Plenty of outside space for sitting and dining. The house was immaculate, everything provided that we needed for the week. All communication with the owner was great. The house is on the outskirts of a lovely village, we walked into the village every morning to get pastries for breakfast from the bakery. There’s also a small co-op for other essentials. We had a great meal at the port that we could also walk to. It’s in a lovely area with lots to do. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to holiday in the area.

Comfortable, peaceful house on edge of village

Our third visit in 10 years :-) The house is in a peaceful lane, backing onto grape vines, on the edge of the pretty little Gironde estuary village of Mortagne sur Gironde. Huge garden, not overlooked. Great pool, Fantastic (new) big charcoal bbq, outdoor seating. UK FreeSat TV. WiFi is quite weak as it’s a very rural area, so wouldn’t recommend if you want to do any work on a PC during your visit. Bakery, butchers, great little supermarket and several restaurants in village, all within walking distance (or a short drive) from the house. The owner, Vikki is fantastic; always very prompt communication and so friendly and helpful. It adds to the positive experience of the stay.

Beautifully presented well maintained comfortable

We arrived to a vast area of beautifully cut grass, so rare in France so our 1st impressions were buoyed up before we even opened the front door. Not disappointed, the house is light and spacious, comfortable fabric sofas, not the normal holiday let mock leather and equally comfortable beds. The pool was just under 30 degrees, the level bottom with a consistent depth unusual but rather nice especially for my wife who does not like being out of her depth. Comfortable sun loungers - we had taken our own cushions and if some had been supplied it would have been nice, the loungers are not designed to need cushions but .... The only possible critism which is outside the control of the owners is that it is a windy location. There are areas in the garden where it is possible to hide from the wind and it is not a valid excuse for not going. We have been to Mortagne many times, a special place. This is the best property we have rented and will almost certainly return.

Superb house, well equipped, tranquil setting, convenient for village shops, great value

This was my partner's and my second visit to this house with private heated pool and large garden, set on the eastern edge of the village, backing onto vineyards. The garden is screened from the property to the right of the house by large hedges, so is quite private. To the left is a field about 150 feet wide before the next house, which is also well hedged. We love the tranquillity and the convenience - the village bakers, butchers, pizzeria and supermarket are all about 10 minutes walk away and the restaurants in the pretty little port/marina are about 20 minutes walk away (beware, there is a steep hill to climb back up from the port, which can be hard work after a meal!). The views over the port and Gironde estuary from the top of the village are beautiful. The house is well equipped and comfortable with good WiFi and UK TV via FreeSat (and French TV too). There is a covered area behind the house with a table and chairs under it, which is great for taking refuge from the sun (it was 30 degrees C some days during our stay). The built-in garden BBQ was a good way to end the day with the sun setting and the large variety of birds flitting over the garden. We think that this house represents great value for money. As per our previous visit, the owner, Vikki is very friendly and responsive to messages. I'm sure we will return again.

Belle découverte

Très beau séjour passé au sein de cette location. Nous avons apprécié notamment l'espace et le calme de la propriété qui est aussi bien située pour réaliser diverses visites. La maison est bien équipée et agréable à vivre. Bien que le site indique clairement que la propriétaire parle anglais, nous aurions espéré que les documents sur place soient traduits en français. Sur le plan matériel, le lit à deux places est confortable, les dimensions reprises sur l'annonce sont correctes mais il n'est pas adapté à des personnes de plus d'1,80 m. Au-delà de cet aspect pratique, nous avons passé une excellent séjour là-bas et nous espérons pouvoir y revenir un jour! Merci à la propriétaire pour sa réactivité dans ses réponses et son souci continu du bien-être des locataires !

Vraiment reposant

Charmante maison dans un très joli village. Boulangeries; boucherie superette sont toutes proches. La maison est joliment décorée. Elle ne manque de rien. Très fraîche malgré la chaleur. Piscine très agréable et beau terrain avec arbres fruitiers. Nous avons passé un agréable séjour. Contact avec la propriétaire très amical. Merci à Kimberly et son époux sans oublier le jardinier. celui ci nous a renseigné un petit restaurant .. Feufeu. N'hésitez pas à y aller car nous avons très bien mangé. N'hésitez pas à réserver cette maison si vous souhaitez passer de merveilleuses vacances. Pour infos : La grille du barbecue doit être changée et les poêles et marmites ne sont pas adaptées à la taque à induction. Bon séjour à tous .

Agréable sejour

Petite commune sympathique, on y trouve tout ce dont on a besoin (boulangerie, épicerie, boucherie..) sur le port, bars et restaurants. Pour le marché, je recommande vivement le marche de saint Georges de didonne. La maison est vraiment Au calme ce qui est agréable. Elle est bien agencée. Toutefois attention au lit double, malgré un sur-matelas, le lit est assez ancien et peut être très désagréable en cas de faiblesse au niveau du dos. La maison est relativement bien équipée. Facile d'accès. Bref nous avons passé un bon séjour.

Au calme et en total confort

En famille, nous avons passé une très belle semaine. Nous avons eu une météo excellente pour un mois d'avril qui nous a permis de découvrir la région tout en profitant de la piscine chauffée pour nous prélasser.

Un lieu de repos et de détente très bien aménagé

La maison de Victoria est très bien équipée. Il ne manque rien. En plus elle est située dans un quartier calme en haut du village avec vue sur les vignes. Il est possible de partir à vélo pour aller de village en village en suivant des petites routes ravissantes. C'est un endroit idéal pour des vacances loin de la foule tout en étant à un quart d'heure de très belles plages. Quant à la piscine, elle nous a permis d'oublier que la météo était plutôt grise cette semaine-là.

Die Ferienwohnung ist wirklich hervorragend. Nicht nur das große Gelände, die sehr ruhige und intime Lage und natürlich der Pool überzeugen. Auch das Haus an sich ist wunderbar gestaltet worden. Hier hat sich jemand mal wirklich Gedanken um die Innengestaltung gemacht. Auch der Zugang war dank Schlüssel Box problemlos möglich, Frau Adkins stets erreichbar.Wir können dieses tolle Haus nur wärmstens empfehlen!

Beautiful location

Great location and lovely property. Very spacious inside and very large garden-kids loved playing ball games and the little tea set went down a treat with our little boy. Seating area was a bit warm as no shade and sometimes too windy for the parasol- would benefit from an awning. Fantastic facilities including good range of cooking equipment. The bakery down the road was a must visit for fresh bread and treats. Villa only 20 mins from the beach and 40 mins to Royan. Victoria was amazing at answering any questions as and when needed.
