Elvis and Manfred were great hosts. The grounds were well kept and the location was excellent with a park a block away and then the coastline. Our unit was clean and well equipped. Hope we have a chance to stay again!

The property was as described, comfortably furnished with cooling breezes and a relaxing view of the ocean from the patio, and an excellent location with a short walk to the local park on the coast. The hosts are welcoming and friendly with an excellent response time and availability. We would definitely recommend staying at this property and will reach out to Manfred and Elfie if we look to vacation in Pahoa again.

perfect for us

We have family living just a couple blocks away so this is the perfect site for us. If you are going to be staying on the Hilo side for a few days and want to really get a feel for what it's like, give this spot a try. The botanic gardens, rainbow falls and the Sunday Pahoa farmers market are all 'must see' IMO.

Popaa vacation

The owners were amazing they came and checked on us daily offer to give us any information we may need about the area. Saw whale sitting on the deck. Brow was beautiful!! Great place to just relax and not have busy streets etc.

Perfect hideaway.

We got upgraded to the suite upstairs because the bungalow was being renovated. Wow what a fantastic upgrade :) Elfie and Manfred were the perfect hosts and their place was absolutely gorgeous with great views, undisturbed tranquility and great access to both Hilo and the Volcanoes national park. Clean, bright and beautiful place to be away from everything and still not too far away.

A bungalow wit the ocean in view

This bungalow offers a comfortable compromise -- it isn't exactly on the ocean, it isn't in the jungle, and it isn't in a cookie-cutter development, either. It's well set up so that you can sit outside in all sorts of weather. All parts of Puna are easily assessible from its door. The owners are friendly and accommodating.

We had everything we needed and more. Little extras like beach towels, cookies, water and coffee were provided. The apartment was very nicely decorated and furnished. The shower was huge! The lanai and grounds were beautiful. We would stay here again and recommend it to others. The host live next door and were available to meet any needs we had with generosity. We felt so very welcomed.

The Coastline was minutes away

The property is perfect for one or two people. I was able to visit Pahoa and grocery shop like one of the locals. I enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and was able to visit most of the East side of the Island, which included the volcanos. The owners were always available when I had questions but were obscure otherwise. A very pleasant experience.

Wonderful hosts, peaceful location

My wife I stayed here for a week in February. Our hosts, Manfred and Elfie, were the best! They met us at the bungalow and made sure we were happy with our rental. They made us feel at home and gave us the benefit thier many years of experience living on the island. The bungalow was cozy and comfortable, located in a quiet neighborhood in Pahoa with a beautiful view of the ocean and a short stroll to ocean cliffs. This is the place to stay on the east side of the island if you want to experience lush rainforests, waterfalls, ocean cliffs and Vulcanos National Park. I highly recommend this place! island

Peaceful Paradise

We were greeted as soon as we arrived which made for clear instructions and communication. There isn't AC, but every single window and door has screens in it, so there is a beautiful breeze flowing through the whole bungalow. You can see the ocean from pretty much every room. We did not have good cell phone service, but that added to the experience for me. ;) We enjoyed cooking and sitting on the patio the most. Pahoa is a gem of a town. I look forward to the next time we can stay.

Parfait!!

Cet hébergement est parfait pour vivre Big Island dans un superbe décor typique. Nous avons eu la grande suite 2e étage entièrement vitrée avec vue sur l’océan à 1 coin de rue. Nous avons profité de la terrasse pour déjeuner et souper ainsi que du BBq pour des soupers mémorables! Malgré une panne de courant, séjour mémorable, choyés par les propriétaires qui habitent à côté, discrets mais aidants et charmants! Chaque unité de ce cottage est super et l’accès à la cour et au parc en bord d’océan

Mis à part le temps qui nous a joué un mauvais tour, tout était parfait. Le logement est très bien situé pour visiter la côte est de l'île. L'appartement est très confortable et conforme à la description. C'est un lieu qui mérite d'être vu !! L'accueil des propriétaires est agréable et discret à la fois. Toujours un petit mot gentil lorsque vous les croiserez. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés !!!

Lovely and relaxing bungalow with an ocean view

The property is on the part of Hawai’i Island with the most vibrant natural attractions, such as Volcanoes National Park, and the rainforest areas. The property is very close to the ocean, affording tranquil and beautiful views. The hosts are both very nice, and provide privacy while also being nearby if a question arises.

Cute and Cozy Bungalow

My fiance and I enjoyed our stay in the bungalow. The beach was a short walk and the views of the sunrises from the lani was amazing . Elfie and Manfred were wonderful host and we would diffiinately stay here again.

Perfect Retreat

Our stay here was amazing! We had easy access to so many fun places to visit including waterfalls, volcanos national park, beaches and more. Elfie was there to greet us and show us around. They were available to answer questions and help us navigate the island. They were the perfect hosts.

Perfect Quiet Couples Getaway

My partner and I escaped here during dreary wintertime in the Pacific Northwest. We spent a lot of time admiring the view from the beautiful garden. We used the washer and dryer multiple times. Great to be able to do laundry! We were glad we had a rental car. Lots of cool things to see but not all accessible by public transit. However the city bus did stop in front of the property daily, so definitely an option if needed. Elfie and Manfred were lovely and easy to get ahold of when needed. Really hoping to stay in touch with them!

Great place to relax!

The Bungalow has everything one, or a couple, would need for a relaxing stay. It is a little bit away from many of the sites, but if you are not in a rush, this is a great place.

Great place and location

The place was perfect for us. Kahakai park is just a very short walk away and has breathtaking views of the ocean. There was so much to see on the east side of the island and so much of it is very close. The government beach road that is only a few blocks away is a great scenic drive I highly recommend. As for the bungalow it had everything we needed and Elfie was super helpful. They also stocked it with plenty of cookware, coolers and thermos we used on our hikes, and more. A vacation we will not soon forget, the Big Island is amazing.

Beautiful Property & View from the Lanai

Elfie & Manfred were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure my girlfriend and I were comfortable. They were very quick to reply to issues we had (which was only 1 - we were too jet lagged to figure out that you have to pull the bottom of the faucet to get the shower head to turn on LOL). The property is in a great location, right off the main road with easy access to the small town of Pahoa. An unobstructed ocean view from the Lanai was our favorite little charm of this place. The lanai offers a perfect, shaded oasis to hang out and eat breakfast in the morning or finish the night with a cocktail. The small kitchen is perfect for a couple, and came stocked with plenty of cooking utensils, a blender, and a coffee maker. The place does not have air conditioning, but it only took a night to get used to for sleeping, as did the coqui frogs that make noise all night. We grew to love the sounds of all the critters that hang out in the beautiful garden in the front of the house (birds, frogs, and our favorites - gheckos). Overall, an amazing stay, and will 100% stay again if we vacation on Big Island in the future.

Great location, wonderful hosts

Beautiful area with a great location overlooking the ocean. We easily saw the 2018 lava flow, Volcanoes national park, the scenic waterfalls, Kohala Zipline and Southpoint from here. The property has everything we needed. Coffee pot, with coffee to get us started until we went to the store, tea, dishes, pots and pans and towels. Guidebooks and water equipment is available. Great lanai overlooking the ocean. Honestly, the pictures on the listing do not do this place justice. The only down side is this side of the island has a bit rougher current, so be advised you may need to travel a bit (30-45 minutes) if you want a calmer beach to get in the water. Plenty to do and see in this area!
