Sant'Ansovino, monastère bénédictin du 12e siècle niché dans les sublimes vallées paisibles du centre de l'Italie au carrefour de la Toscane, l’Ombrie et Les Marches. Restauré avec goût avec des matériaux d’origine. De ce fait, le monastère a été restauré avec 1 attention aux détails rarement vue aujourd'hui. Sant'Ansovino n'est pas 1 musée, c'est 1 logement où les enfants jouent et les adultes se détendent autour du feu avec un verre de vin. Le monastère jouit également d'équipements modernes : salles de bains attenantes en marbre, téléphone/Internet (réseau numérique à intégration de services), grand réfrigérateur double porte, cuisinière professionnelle et piscine privée chauffée. Splendid time spent at the monastery

An amazing, authentic house; tucked away in the hills of the Marche. A place that offers everything a foodie loves: Fresh herbs, pizza oven, extended kitchen equipment, plus the occasion for a real Italian Cooking class, with three generations female Chefs. Great communication with the owners, and absolutely amazing daily service by Alfio, the pool man. Would highly recommend this place if you are in for a lovely time in nature (hikes), combined with spending time at the pool.

A great rural family retreat for s sense of real Italy

We had a fantastic stay the house is really well equipped and beautifully renovated .We were three family's , the pool was an obvious hit but we had great fun cooking pizzas in the outside pizza oven and the covered sitting area works brilliantly with the location of the pool , house and lounges . The restaurant at the bottom of the hill to which you can walk to was perfect ,everything you want for an authentic Italian experience . The antipasta were delicious as was all the other rustic fare provided . The two villages nearby were great for a drink or pizza . There are plenty of walking trails and mountain bike routes and you can hire bikes in Appechio which has a useful tourist information centre which can sort out canyoning , climbing etc if you are feeling more adventurous . To us it felt like bygone holidays in France from years ago , rural and unspoilt but with a thriving local population .

Amazing stay

We had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed and more. The pool was excellent and the kids (and adults) loved it. The house was clean and well equipped and we enjoyed using the pizza oven and BBQ during our stay. The location was ideal with supermarkets and restaurants nearby but it was remote enough to relax, get away from it all and enjoy the scenery. The hosts Louise and Marc were wonderful and really helped us both before and during our trip. I would highly recommend staying here :)

Wunderschöne Location!

Wir waren mit 14 Leuten für zehn Tage in der Monastero San Ansovino und waren begeistert von dem Anwesen! Ein sehr besonderes, geschichtsträchtiges Gebäude und ein wunderschöner Außenbereich! Von Haus aus kann man sehr schön wandern und es sind abwechslungsreiche (Halb-) Tagesausflüge in Städtchen und Nationalparks der Umgebung möglich. Die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern war super, sie waren zu jeder Tageszeit erreichbar und haben uns in jeder Frage schnell geholfen. Jeden Morgen vor dem Aufstehen wurden Pool und Garten von Alfio gereinigt und gepflegt, ein toller Service! Am Abreisetag hatten wir einen Platten - trotz Sprachbarriere hat Alfio uns ohne Zögern geholfen, für uns mit der lokalen Werkstatt telefoniert, den Reifen dorthin gefahren und repariert wieder zurückgebracht, vielen lieben Dank dafür nochmal! Insgesamt hatten wir eine tolle Zeit und wir kommen sehr, sehr gerne wieder!

Ansovino is a very special place. Stunning, sophisticated, well appointed and very peaceful. It's obviously a place much loved by the owners Louise and Marc, as is testament by the beautiful antique furniture and top end equipment. Also Anna is on hand to give local advice and sort out any problems quickly and efficiently. It was very hot during our stay but there was also a wonderfully cooling breeze which made for a perfect mix. Great local restaurants and beautiful cities to visit a shortish drive away. The house also has the cleanest windows I have ever seen!

Traumhafte Erholung in einem wunderschönen Ambiente

Wir (2 Familien, mit 5 Kindern) haben im Monastero San Ansovino eine traumhafte Woche erlebt. Das ehemalige Kloster wirkt bei der Ankunft sogar noch beeindruckender als die Fotos und ist riesig (es hätte leicht noch eine weitere Familie Platz gehabt). Unsere Kinder (und wir) liebten den Pool, den Pizzaofen und die geschmackvoll eingerichteten Zimmer. Die Landschaft ist so schön, dass man eigentlich die ganze Woche dort verbringen könnte, ohne irgendwelche Ausflüge zu machen (was ein Fehler wäre, da es viel zu sehen gibt). Das alleine rechtfertigt die 5 Sterne. Als "Zugabe" war alles im Bezug auf die Unterkunft perfekt organisiert, wir bekamen detaillierte und hilfreiche Reiseunterlagen von der Vermieterin, die Betreuung von Anna (spricht perfekt Englisch) vor Ort war super, die Zimmer waren tadellos und auch der Pool (und sogar der Pizzaofen) wurde jeden Morgen von Carlino in einem Topzustand gebracht.

The holiday that exceeded all expectations!

We booked this house for a 3 family joint holiday. As ever, booking on-line was concerning me until I had decided upon the Monastery and made contact with the owners. Louise was so helpful, friendly and reassuring from the get-go. She made the whole process of booking and paying for the holiday stress free and painless. Upon arrival, the Monastery blew us away! What a fabulous and amazing house. The children were so excited, especially with the gorgeous pool and garden area. The house was spotless and what really impressed was the attention to detail. The arrival pack was generous and comprehensive. The highlights included; cooking outside using the Pizza Oven (we even managed to cook a full Sunday roast in there!), late night swims in the beautifully flood-lit pool, breakfast at the local cafe in Appechio, trips to Rome/Sienna/Florence, the peacefulness of the sublime valley the Monastery nestled in, the restaurant at the bottom of the hill - a short pop-in on the way back from a visit to a local town turned in to a 3 hour boozy lunch! There are too many highlights to list here. Suffice to say, the 2 weeks passed too quickly and we returned home. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we all miss the Monastery and the gorgeous surrounding area. We have also fallen in love with Italy. We will return. In conclusion, the holiday far exceeded our expectations and I thoroughly recommend this house for your holiday.

Marc is a Californian who grew up North of San Francisco and Louise is English. Meeting in London they discovered a shared fondness for great food which eventually led them to Italy. They have two children, Aurelia and William who have spent many wonderful holidays at San Ansovino and the whole family love this beautiful spot.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

We discovered this wonderful place on a trip to Italy with our then 2 year old daughter and fell in love with it instantly. The bell tower, the way it sits in the hills, and the way the light falls in the afternoon all tugged at our hearts. It was only later during the 4 year renovation that we became priviliged to make many local friends. We hope you love this special place as much as we do.
