Thanks for accepting our last minute booking to allow us to spend Christmas together while visiting my poorly father in the area. The cottage is in a lovely location and was perfect for our needs.
clean, tidy, great location, comfy beds, lovely linen, soft towels, numerous facilities, warm welcome, helpful hosts, ample parking, dog-friendly - just everything!!! Oh, and the TV and heating worked :-)
We want to come back- loved it!
Perfect hosts, perfect accommodation.
We stayed at Lynn and Franks holiday home for a little over a week. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I am normally quite critical regarding where we stay, but couldn't find any fault. Nice big kitchen / diner. Comfy sofas, comfy bed. What else do you need?
There is a pub 10 mins walk up the road with a small shop as well.. Lovely Sunday roast in the Raven.
There is a small garden at the property with table and chairs with a parasol just in case the sun comes out!
We have already asked about a return visit. As we never go back to the same place twice, I think that says it then.
Thanks to our hosts for an enjoyable stay.
Oh, then there is Angus, their dog which will fetch sticks for as long as you have the strength.to chuck 'em. :)
I stayed in this wonderful cottage that can sleep 5 people for a week's holiday with my Husband and 2 children. Frank and Lynn are fantastic hosts, extremely welcoming and more than happy to share advice about the area and good places to visit. This was my first visit to North Wales and I loved every minute. The cottage was perfect, cosy, inviting, and exceeded our expectations. The welcome basket was a lovely touch as well, we enjoyed trying the Welsh cakes. The location of the cottage was ideal to explore the wonderful scenery and locations North Wales has to offer. Angus ( the owners dog) was an added bonus and my son had great fun throwing sticks for him. All in all a fantastic cottage and a great holiday with lots of fun memories made. We would definitely stay again as there were lots of places we didn't get the chance to visit. Emma, Dave, Amelia and Oliver
Beautiful setting, quiet, peaceful and perfect for the dog as lots of walks. Village pub and siop lovely. Weather made the stay doubly enjoyable.
Beds were a bit hard and the shower curtain could do with upgrading but otherwise a most enjoyable stay in a stunning part of North Wales.
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Lovely area and nice village with everyone so friendly. Owner there is you want them and friendly and full of good advice on where to visit.
In an area of AONB located in a quiet village. This property owned by Richard & Lynn is a real home from home .Everything you could want is there.Communication throughout was excellent.Thank you both for what was our first visit to Wales.Would have no hesitation in recommending this property and its location, and returning to the area.Thank you.
Frank and Lynnâs cottage was perfect for what we needed. We arrived quite late in the evening and on arrival the place was spotless and inviting. After a day of hiking this is an ideal place to relax and unwind. All amenities exceeded our expectations. Weâll hope to be back soon. Thank you! X
Comfortable cottage in a picturesque and peaceful location. Lovely walks all around. Cottage owner very welcoming and helpful. Nice village close by with convenient community shop and a great community pub. Would happily recommend this cottage.
Spacious accommodation, some low beams particularly at the stairwell, but one of our party was 6'6" I believe! Otherwise no problems. Public footpaths nearby for dog walking. We really enjoyed our stay over Christmas, with a tree thoughtfully provided.
A lovely location in walking distance of the village shop and pub. Not too far from the coast for a walk on the beach. Overall a nice cosy cottage however there were a few reasons we could not rate it 5 â. The main reason being the double bed is very uncomfortable.
Nice simple cottage, a short walk from a lovely village (which has a small community-run shop and a community-run pub).
Lovely scenery, and larger towns (Mold, etc) easily accessible by car.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Ty Gylfinir which offers spacious, well-appointed, comfortable accommodation. It has a peaceful, rural location yet is within easy reach by car of shopping and other facilities in nearby towns, while the village with its community shop and pub is within walking distance.
The helpful, friendly owners live just across the road and readily give assistance or advice if required. It was a real bonus to find on arrival a supply of basics (e.g. tea, coffee, bread, milk, etc) in the kitchen plus a lovely vase of flowers - all much appreciated after a long journey.
Ty Gylfinir is a great base for touring all parts of North Wales with its wide variety of places to visit and range of activities on offer. In the dresser drawers in the dining area Frank and Lynn have provided plenty of informative leaflets and booklets on the area. There is so much to see and do - we definitely hope to return and highly recommend this excellent property!
As it says....Beautiful cottage in a stunning area
An excellent place to stay for a few days for our walking holiday. Nearby pub THe Raven excellent beer and food.
Unfortunately we forgot our maps but Frank came to the rescue!

PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT.
We came to the area not knowing what to expect. Its fantastic. The Raven pub was most welcoming.
Frank & Lynn where the perfect hosts giving us lots of advice on the local walks. The cottage suited our needs well. Cosy and warm and even the weather played its part and allowing us to sit in the garden.
A great little find. Excellent set up for us with our dog who could roam freely in the garden. The owner Frank (who lives just across the road) was most helpful with information for walks and places to visit.
Definitely be back
The cottage was lovely and in a lovely place but there were a couple of problems. There was insufficient cutlery and crockery and the twin beds were not very usable, very rickety and a screw sticking out caused a big gash on a leg
We enjoyed staying in this cottage in the beautiful Welsh Countryside. We were four adults and there was plenty of room. The living room and bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. We would advise using Franksâs directions to get to the cottage, and to be sure it is daylight unless you are used to driving in Wales!
Gezellig huisje!
Geheel ommuurde grint-tuin, dat was fijn met onze hondjes. Een soort boomgaard daarbij.
De eigenaar was er direct toen het internet niet werkte en hij heeft het direct opgelost.
Fantastische omgeving! Heerlijk gewandeld Offa's dykepath). Hele leuke pub op 10 minuten wandelen. Ook klein
winkeltje erbij.
Quaint cottage in peaceful surroundings and fantastic location
From the breathtaking views of Snowdonia, to the far reaching North welsh coasts, historic villages and castles, Wales is truly a captivating country. We enjoyed our stay immensely at Frank and Lynn's property - a quaint cottage in peaceful surroundings having all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The property is also ideally located being not more than an hour's away from most of the main attractions in northern Wales as well as close to the historic town of Chester. Not to be missed are Ruthin, Llangollen, Ponty acqueduct and Chirk Castle found close by. Many thanks to Frank who was extremely helpful but never intrusive. The kids will definitely miss Angus the dog, always ready to play around in the garden adjoining the property. Thanks once again.
We have lived in Llanarmon Yn Ial for nearly 30 years now. We are adrenaline junkies and are quite often out kite surfing, kayaking, paragliding or climbing. Any advice wanted just ask.
Ty Gylfinir (Curlew Cottage), the cottage you will be staying in, used to be an old joiners shop making wheels and wooden gears for the surrounding mills and lead mines that proliferated the area. We have travelled extensively and stayed in various degrees of accommodation so when we converted the building we put into it all the things that we thought a client may like and used our own experience to get it 'just right'. Our own cottage is just over the road from Ty Gylfinir so if there are any problems we are on hand to help. We moved to the area as it is very central to all amenities but still with a very rural environment.
Whilst staying at Ty Gylfinir you can enjoy the rural area and still be less that 20 minutes from the cultural and bustling cities of Chester and Wrexham. Llangollen with its annual International Eisteddfordd is but a 15 minute drive away. 10 minutes walk takes you to our local pub The Raven which serves excellent real ales along with the best fish and chips anywhere, (they also serve a full menu) There is ample parking for two cars at Ty Gylfinir The garden is fully enclosed so you can allow your children to play, however there is also a larger area for the older ones with ample room to kick a football around or just wander and chill out.
