A lovely comfortable and well equipped cottage. The heating works well and is easy to adjust! The kitchen is well equipped. The sofa is comfy. There's lots of local forest walks which suited us well. The host was in touch, friendly and approachable. Thank you for a lovely few days.

What a wonderful cottage! So peaceful, a beautiful location right on the shore of Holy Loch and lots to do locally. Mike is a great host and the cottage has everything you need for a short or long stay. I would definitely recommend it

Das Haus hat seinen ganz eigenen Charme und Historie.Die geografische Lage ist bekanntlich sehr ruhig, sonst wĂŒrde man die Region nicht wĂ€hlen und das Wetter in Schottland, gerade am Wasser, ist unberechenbar (September-Reise). DafĂŒr ist der Ausblick am Morgentisch ganz toll und die Landschaft fĂŒr Drohnen-FlĂŒge sehr schön !Bei der Ausstattung war alles vorhanden, was man fĂŒr zwei Wochen Urlaub benötigt, inkl. Waschmaschine und BĂŒcher/DVD-Sammlung. Gerade der Ofen ist eine sehr feine und romantische Sache.Aufgrund des Alters des GebĂ€udes und Aufbau/Anordnung der RĂ€ume (Treppe; Bodenbelag etc.) sind 10* bei Sauberkeit kaum möglich, auch wenn Mike sich noch so viel MĂŒhe gibt. Es gibt im Haus ein paar Regeln in Bezug auf Heizung und Wasser zu beachten, die aber sehr gut im Haus erklĂ€rt sind.Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und unkompliziert.Die Kommunikation ging immer sehr schnell (Email oder persönlich), auch wenn es nur um Ausflugstipps oder ErklĂ€rungen zur Überfahrt nach Glasgow ging.Insgesamt ein schöner Urlaub (bis auf das Wetter).Der historische Charme des GebĂ€udes ist mal was ganz anderes und man darf kein 5*-Hotel erwarten.P.S.: Ja, es ist ein FĂ€hranleger, der aber nicht aktiv in Betrieb ist. Zwischendurch parkt da eine (rote) FĂ€hre am Pier, von der man aber nichts mitbekommt. Die blaue FĂ€hre ankert fest weit entfernt in der Mitte der Bucht und dient als Taucherschule/-Plattform.

Fantastische cottage

Goed toegeruste cottage. Duidelijke beschrijvingen over de te gebruiken faciliteiten. WiFi werkt uitstekend . Heerlijk gewandeld en gegolfd op de uitdagende golfbaan bij het dorp. 15.00 pp per dag. Het buitenplaatsje is wat beperkt Met uitzcht op Holyloch en de veerboten die aan het piertje aanleggen. Ze liggen daar aan de pierEr rijden geen auto's op en af. Gelukkig maar De vriendelijke buurman heeft het gelukkig wat opgevrolijkt met bloempotten. We hebben het heerlijk gehad!

Happy time im Post Office Hous

Das alte Post Office House ist einfach wunderschön. Die Lage ist unfassbar schön, die Einrichtung ist gemĂŒtlich, man fĂŒhlt sich direkt zuhause! Es ist alles da, was man fĂŒr die Zeit dort benötigt. Wir haben uns dort rund herum wohl gefĂŒhlt und wĂŒrden immer wieder dort einziehen wollen.

Perfect little cottage

We stayed for a week in this lovely house. It is small but beautifully formed with a cosy vibe and equipped with absolutely everything that you might need to ensure it feels like home from home. It is situated right on the shore line so if coming with dogs, like we did, you conveniently step out of the door onto the beach and there are miles and miles of forest tracks in the immediate locality for walking. Life was very simple and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for and we would definitely be hoping to return at some point in the future

Mike and Dinah McDonald arrived in Cowal 50 years ago and decided it was heaven.
Mike was an Outdoor Education teacher, so if you want great suggestions for local walks, climbing, canoeing, biking, just ask.
Dinah managed accommodation in Glasgow, from city centre hotels to social housing. She now owns Bookpoint, Dunoon's bookshop, where you can browse amongst 11,000 books, enjoy coffee and home baking, and choose from a wide selection of Scottish gifts.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

We just love the variety and contrasts; only an hour away to the cosmopolitan european city of Glasgow, fine dining, art galleries, stunning museums, yet step off the ferry in Dunoon and you enter such a different world, a National Park of forests, mountains, coast, rivers, lochs, deer in the garden and eagles overhead.

We had always been attracted by Post Office House when it was the village store and Post Office, a curious historic building in a fantastic location, so we didn't hesitate when it was for sale, needing a major rebuild. We learnt new skills: scottish slating, stonemasonry, lime mortar, woodworking with oak, and stained glass to name just a few.
It was finished in 2013 and well worth the wait, we love the end result.

Despite the apparently small exterior, the open plan layout makes it surprisingly spacious for 2-3 visitors. It has been rebuilt to a very high standard, with period furniture,
quirky woodwork, ever-changing views, original artwork, and a cosy stove.
