Profitez de la vue sur la montagne du lac depuis le porche enveloppant à 360 degrés de cette maison historique au bord de l'eau. Superbes vues assis au foyer ou au quai du hangar à bateaux. Apportez votre livre préféré ou vos enfants à la plage de la ville voisine; il y a des sauveteurs et une plate-forme de natation la plupart de l'été et il offre un terrain de volley-ball pour le plaisir en famille. Faites du kayak ou du canoë à partir de notre quai, ou lancez votre bateau de pêche de 10 ch à partir du lancement de l'État sur la route. Pour les pêcheurs et les femmes licenciés, il y a une excellente pêche à faire ici juste à côté du quai ou sur le lac! Quatre chambres sur cinq ont vue sur le lac. Deux salles de bain complètes comprennent une baignoire sur pieds et une douche debout. La cuisine de l'office entièrement rénovée comprend des comptoirs en granit, un grand réfrigérateur, un lave-vaisselle, une cuisinière à gaz avec plaque chauffante intégrée et un évier de ferme. Planchers de bois franc partout. La maison est un tournant du siècle victorien avec de nombreux détails originaux soigneusement préservés. Notre maison est bien approvisionnée et fournit essentiellement tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour de belles vacances en famille. S'il y a quelque chose de spécial dont vous pourriez avoir besoin, veuillez nous le demander à l'avance.

Le village de Saranac Lake est accessible à pied et Lake Placid est à environ 15 minutes en voiture. Centre de ski Dewey Mountain (nordique) et VTT Minnesota Street. Whiteface Mountain dure environ 40 minutes. Activités disponibles partout et à seulement quelques minutes de la maison. Plusieurs randonnées avec des sommets, un parc local avec des terrains de basket-ball et des attractions pour enfants est à distance de marche sur un chemin protégé, le VTT, le mont Pisgah, des galeries d'art et d'antiquités, un carrousel historique, des lancements de bateaux au lac Fleur et au lac Saranac, le marché des fermiers, et la rue principale avec de la nourriture et des divertissements. Perfect family getaway

This was the perfect spot for our big group of family. The beach was perfect for the kids and everyone enjoyed the access to the kayaks and canoes. To get a place this big on the lake was amazing!

Beautiful home, absolutely heavenly.

This was my favorite vacation, a first in the ADK. I honestly would have been happy just sitting in and around this gorgeous old house!!! Everything was perfect and the views and the fire pit...loved it!!!

Nice, Clean, and Spacious

We loved the view of Lake Colby and enjoyed fishing the lake in a canoe. The house was clean, spacious, and nice. There are many amenities , too many for us to use in 4 days. The location was perfect for us as we visited The Wild Center, Lake Placid, Middle Saranac Lake, and shopped in Saranac Lake.

Great Stay in Saranac Lake

My family and I had a great stay up in Saranac Lake at this house over President's Day Weekend 2017. We had a bunch of kids + adults. The house was so comfortable and clean and was right on a lake! It was gorgeous and just the right size for our larger group. So close to restaurants/bars as well as hiking/skiing trails and snow tubing/snowmobiling sites - just a great location! Also, great owners who were very accommodating! Overall - we had so much fun and would definitely do it again!

Lake Colby Trip

This is a beautiful lake with plenty to do. We fished, kayaked and canoed. We brought our own canoe, but there were plenty of kayaks, canoes and lake toys available for our use. We took a boat out on the connecting lakes one day and hiked several others. The location was great-close to Saranac, a supermarket and restaurants and a quick easy drive to all the Lake Placid attractions.

Paddling the Adirondacks

Very convenient location. On the water. Our group of 10 adults found the place most comfortable. We paddled each day from a different Putin exploring beautiful Adirondack’s waterways. Spent late afternoons overlooking the water from the deck enjoying a cold beverage and later cooked marshmallows at the fire pit. Would recommend the place highly. Paul

Family time at the Lake

This house and its location are absolutely spectacular. I greatly appreciate historic architecture and the owners have done such a loving job of restoring this beautiful home. The house was equipped with everything we needed. And the boat house had canoes and kayaks for everyone. It was wonderful to see my 10 and 7 year old grandchildren get on their life jackets and take canoes out on the lake. The 4 year old loved the nearby sandy beach. The adults had a great time in the canoes and hiking. It was a good family time together, with family members coming from Salt Lake City, Rochester, and San Diego.

We always encouage our Guests to contact us with any questions or needs during their stay, which results in a better experience for both Host and Guest. We purchased renovated this in 2016 and we are very proud of it! :) But, we're always looking to improve on whatever we can offer our valued customers. In this case, however, the customer did not report any concerns during his stay. Please review our clarifications regarding a few items raised by Michael: -Our dock on Lake Colby is completely accessible, along with all the complimentary watercraft we provide. the statement made in the review is simply incorrect. We respectfully report we do not understand this comment. -Arrival - It is true that there was an unfortunate mix-up with the VRBO calendar check in date following a change made by the Guest causing a delay- we addressed this immediately, with minimal inconvenience to the customer. -Bath towels- we do specify in the listing that we do not provide them, however, we have some extra for those who have forgetten Had the Guest reached out and let us know we would have been pleased to assist. **We're always happy to help our customers! We loved our stay at this house. The location was perfect - lakefront with shallow water at the dock, and a very quick walk to the community beach. Our kids had a great time swimming and playing in the sand. For part of our week-long stay, we had the maximum number of guests (12), and the house was cozy while allowing space for everyone and included amenities for all. There are two large dining tables, great bedroom layouts (at the max, we had 7 kids staying, and they loved the bunk beds and having their own space on the third floor), enough canoes, kayaks, and life vests for everyone to participate at the same time, and enough outdoor seating for all to enjoy a campfire together. The house is very charming with a lot of character, and includes a wrap -around porch, a fireplace, a piano, two sets of stairs from the first to second floor (which the kids loved), and Adirondack theme throughout. The house was very well-appointed, and we didn't need to bring any of our own kitchen utensils, storage wrap or containers, or cleaning supplies. The house even came with laundry detergent and dryer sheets. I communicated with the owner throughout the week, and he was super responsive (within minutes) every time.

Adirondack Fun at our Fingertips

We were a family of 13, four adult couples and 5 children, ranging in age from 5 to 74!! It's hard to find a place that can accommodate us all and the Lake Colby house was it. The house has 19th century charm and it made us feel like we were really in the Adirondacks. Beds were comfortable and Todd did so much to accommodate us, even bringing over a blender for our morning smoothies and evening frozen cocktails! Everyone enjoyed reading on the porch and looking at the lake. The dining room table fit all of us for big family meals. The small table in the living room was perfect for puzzles and crafts. We enjoyed our late night talks and s'mores around the fire pit. Everyone enjoyed hopping in canoes, kayaks and paddle boards and exploring the lake. Even the five year olds were able to master the kids' kayaks. The lake itself was beautiful with lots of areas to explore from your own boat. The public beach was next door and our kids could walk or bike there without crossing a street, which made us feel safe. The kids also made a fort in the wild area past the beach. We all enjoyed walks through the state forest at the end of the road. The location was also perfect for exploring the towns of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. There were endless activities that matched everyone's tastes. I can't recommend this house enough!

Beautiful Lake Colby Lakefront Home

I recently stayed at this home with my husband and our 4 kids ages 11 to 6. Close family friends also vacationed with us and their family included 2 adults and a 13 y/o. The home is 100+ years old and beautifully restored. The home is huge! As a party of 9 we had beds left over. We spent the majority of our week sitting on the wrap around porch and enjoying the views of the lake. When we weren't on the porch the kids loved fishing from the dock. The home has so many kayaks and canoes! We were all able to explore the lake at once. The home also included a huge variety of life jackets. The public beach which has life guards is next to the property so we could easily walk to it. The kids loved swimming to the platform at the public beach. There are several hiking and biking trails near by, Lake Placid is also a short drive away. There were so many restaurants near by, we loved Tail O' the Pup and La Bella Ristorante. At night we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and roasting s'mores. Plenty of outside seating was provided so we had less to pack. We all enjoyed the historic home which was decorated with not only Adirondack charm but also many historic items. We could tell that the home is loved by its owners and well cared for. On many days our kids didn't want to leave the house at all, they just wanted to be in the water or fish. There are many board games at the house as well. Every morning the kids would search through the game cabinet for a game to play at the dining room table. We loved that the home was close to restaurants and included so many amenities. The home owner was easily reached and he provided recommendations for different fishing locations on the lake and trails to hike/bike. Our kids said that this was one of their favorite vacations. Overall a great vacation in a beautiful home.

Spring break

The listing described the house accurately and the pictures were helpful. The location was perfect for giving our daughter a break from the dorm room as the college had an abbreviated break of 2 days off so we went to her instead of her coming home. If the weather were warmer it would have been ideal for some kayaking as the lake is in the backyard. It was lovely to have a fireplace and to enjoy. We were able to enjoy cooking together and having relaxing family time together.

Beautiful house- close to lots

Beautiful house that was plenty big enough for my family of 12. Great location and a gorgeous wrap around porch and view of the lake. Could use some small upgrades- like a better banister on the 2nd floor at the top of the stairs and a door on one of the bedrooms on the 3rd floor. But its a picturesque Adirondack lakehouse!

Katie, thanks for staying with us and for the thoughtful review. We renovated our historic home in 2016, top to bottom, in a historic fashion, adding the original 3rd floor area to our usable space. The orange kids room does not have a doorway, and we stayed true to that in our preservation. It does have a heavy opaque curtain closure, as they are single beds intended for a kids play and sleeping room, we have never received any negative feedback. We understand that it may not have fit your needs completed, and apologize for any inconvenience. We did speak with you just now to clarify your concerns about the top of the stair– you confirmed that there is nothing broken. It is the same mohagony bannister and railings have been in place for the last 120 years. I understand that your review refers to the very top steps, and how the railing / bannister system is positioned, so that you have to reach out further when heading downstairs for the top two steps. It is my hope that readers of this review understand that there are no defects in this home as it relates to bannisters and safety, but rather that everyone has differing preference. This is simply the original design reflects its 1901 construction. Thank you!

We are a family of 2 adults and 4 children that together both work on and enjoy our lake properties! We acquired our home in 2016 from the Phillips family of Virginia, which had held the home as a seasonal residence on Lake Colby for over 100 years, and spent two years on remodeling and improving the property. We take lots of pride in our home on Lake Colby, and ensure that everything is ready to the highest standards for our guests.

The home was built in 1901, as a summer residence. We painstakingly restored the home to its original finishes, and added modern conveniences in the kitchen and baths, and in the process converted the home to a year-round residence with central heating. We have original blown glass windows overlooking the original wrap around covered porch – a wonderful place to enjoy gorgeous summer afternoons overlooking the lake. Our private dock and “boathouse” gives our guests access to swimming and boating with our array of canoes and kayaks. We are located in sight of the village beach, a wonderful place for families to gather for sand volleyball, swimming and sand castle building. We have lots of games for beach and otherwise, and a few bicycles (may need to inflate the tires!) in our garage that guests are welcome to use.
PET POLICY
Pets are welcome on case by case basis, and guests should inquire first. We do not allow more than one animal per reservation. Our pet fee is $75/ night to a maximum of $250 per stay. Dogs must not be left unattended unless crated, and are strictly prohibited from furniture (including beds!) and especially our wool Pendleton plankets and bedding. Guests must clean up after the pet both inside and out of the home. Maximum size dog permitted is 60 lbs. Pease note we have original smooth wood floors and stair steps, and the home is not suitable for high energy or young excitable dogs.

In summer, we spend our days hiking Mt Baker, Ampersand or any of the "Saranac 6" peaks. The beach is next door...or...swim, canoe and kayak from our dock in the back yard, right on Lake Colby! Mountain and road biking (rentals in town), horseback riding, boating (rentals on Lower Saranac Lake 1 mile away)...there is so much to do and see all year round! Saranac Lake and Lake Placid are hosts to many summer events, including the Horse Show, Can Am Rugby, Iron-Man Lake Placid, Lacrosse Festival, Farmer’s Market on Lake Flower and much more.

In the winter, we spend our days cross country skiing & snow shoeing at nearby Dewey Mtn, Mt. Van Hovenberg or Cascade Lakes. We sled at SLHS field or our secret place out in the woods (we will share it with you!). Ice skating on the lake or on the oval at Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. Downhill skiing at Whiteface, Titus and Mt. Pisgah (1/4 mile away !). Snowmobile trails C7 and C7B accessible from the house! Extreme snow tubing and Bobsled rides at the Olympic facilities. Plenty to do in town....Bitters & Bones for tapas plates, entertainment and games, The Waterhole for concerts, Casa Del Sol for incredible north country Mexican food! Don't miss all the fun at Winter Carnival during the 2nd week of February each year!
