Skippers Woods is a beautiful, spacious lodge-style home at The Homestead in Glen Arbor that sleeps 10 with 3-bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. You will love spending time at this peaceful retreat tucked in the woods and located only minutes from Lake Michigan and the Crystal River.

This home has a huge living room/dining room combination with a wood-burning fireplace and tall windows throughout that provide gorgeous views of the woods. Off of the living room, step out onto the huge deck with a grill and seating. Depending on the season, there can be views of wildflowers and wildlife from the deck.

If you're looking for things to do, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, and the Heritage Trail are just a few of the natural treasures in our area. There is also canoeing on the Crystal River and shopping in the many towns and villages in Leelanau County.

No pets allowed. Homestead amenities are not included.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a great experience. The place where we stayed was very nice, quite beautiful surroundings. Nice kitchen. Quite clean, nice beds, comfortable seating. My one recommendation is to fix the slider in the living room and add a screen door to it. I would recommend this place to friends.

The home was in need of many repairs. Peeling paint, broken screens, a patio door which was very difficult to open. The house was very dark and lighting was poor. We left after three days - too depressing! The good news was that the agent, Up North, refunded much of the rent which we had paid. They were aware of the situation in the house and were working with the owner on repairs.

Great location

We had a great stay! We had 2 families, 4 adults and 3 kids total. Plenty of room. No access to pools which is a bummer, but access to beaches and restaurants on the property. Great location.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at Skippers Woods, as long as we were inside. The one thing we were disappointed about was the deck. The sliding door was broken, so we could not excess the deck easily. There was another entrance to the deck, but since it was uneven terrain, it was difficult for our elderly parents to access. Also, there was no glass in the outdoor table, so even if you wanted to enjoy the deck, don't plan on using it for meals. This was a big bummer since this was the only outside area. When we talked to the vacation rental company at the beginning of our trip, they were aware of the door situation, but had no plans on coming out to fix it. I would not recommend this place if you are looking to spend your time outdoors. Otherwise, the house was large and had room for our party of 7.

The home was clean, comfortable, and just as described. We appreciated how tidy everything was. Unfortunately, the driveway hadn’t been plowed when we arrived, and we got stuck several times. We were told it would be taken care of after reaching out to the host, but no one ever came. Also, the lower level heat wasn’t working, making it quite cold downstairs. With better snow removal and the heating issue fixed, this would be a great rental.

My sisters and I stayed during a beautiful week in September. The house was perfect, other than some ants, but we’ve come to expect them in the middle of the woods, so no big deal. My family was the original builders and owners of this house, so it was just as we remembered it, along with some amazing new renovations. The Homestead, and more specifically, this house, holds a special place in our hearts! Thank you for allowing us to stay and relive some childhood memories. It was just as magical as we remembered.

Beautiful views - surrounded by trees

Nestled just off the road surrounded by trees the living room has massive windows on each side to enjoy the view. Master bedroom suite upstairs with views looking down into the valley. The kitchen was adequately equipped for cooking and a nice grill to use.

The lodge was well-prepared for our stay including propane for the grill. We would book this house again and highly recommend it as a rental facility. No communication with the property manager was necessary.
