Skippers Woods is a beautiful, spacious lodge-style home at The Homestead in Glen Arbor that sleeps 10 with 3-bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. You will love spending time at this peaceful retreat tucked in the woods and located only minutes from Lake Michigan and the Crystal River.

This home has a huge living room/dining room combination with a wood-burning fireplace and tall windows throughout that provide gorgeous views of the woods. Off of the living room, step out onto the huge deck with a grill and seating. Depending on the season, there can be views of wildflowers and wildlife from the deck.

If you're looking for things to do, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, and the Heritage Trail are just a few of the natural treasures in our area. There is also canoeing on the Crystal River and shopping in the many towns and villages in Leelanau County.

No pets allowed. Homestead amenities are not included.

My sisters and I stayed during a beautiful week in September. The house was perfect, other than some ants, but we’ve come to expect them in the middle of the woods, so no big deal. My family was the original builders and owners of this house, so it was just as we remembered it, along with some amazing new renovations. The Homestead, and more specifically, this house, holds a special place in our hearts! Thank you for allowing us to stay and relive some childhood memories. It was just as magical as we remembered.

Great location

We had a great stay! We had 2 families, 4 adults and 3 kids total. Plenty of room. No access to pools which is a bummer, but access to beaches and restaurants on the property. Great location.

Great getaway but needs more upkeep

Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Enjoyed the location and feeling of being in the middle of the woods. Would have been better with more comfortable furniture in the living room to read, relax and settle down with a movie. The kitchen and grill for breakfast and dinner were great, as well as the updated washer / dryer! Would have been nice to sit on the deck but the patio & furniture needed a good cleaning. Upon arrival we noticed the cleanliness was mediocre, dirty counters, sinks, plates and utensils. Very convenient location, close enough to go for a nice walk, drive into town, drive to a new beach daily and check out so many areas outside of glen arbor. We took plenty of beach trips but all of the beach chairs were not usable so had to purchase our own. Overall great house and location for a family on the go!

Great Rental

It had everything we needed (except wash clothes - not one in the house lol). It had all all of the pans, kitchen appliances, utensils etc we could have needed. Comfy furniture and beautiful views out tons of windows. Our group thought the beds were comfortable and the water pressure was great. The only issue we had was a terrible squeak from a register vent fan that kept some of us up the first night but we shut it off after a call to the office the next morning and no noise after. It had a great location and not too far from wine tasting, places to eat and site seeing places that were on our list. We appreciated the large table for playing games and plenty of seating for when we wanted to just lounge and visit. We would rent the house again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful views - surrounded by trees

Nestled just off the road surrounded by trees the living room has massive windows on each side to enjoy the view. Master bedroom suite upstairs with views looking down into the valley. The kitchen was adequately equipped for cooking and a nice grill to use.

We had a great experience overall, and the location is very conveniently close to the town (only about a 5 minute drive into town).We have a few suggestions for a better stay;1. Deeper clean before the guests arrive. The home was not very clean when we arrived; the floors were covered in dirt, lamps were covered in spider webs, and you can just tell that the surfaces were not touched very well. We were hesitant to sit outside on the patio because it was covered in spider webs, bugs, and debris. We understand we were in the woods, but we believe it could have been touched before we arrived. Once we took the time to dust everything off ourselves, we enjoyed the space nightly. The trash bin was full when we arrived, but it was taken care of in a timely manner which we appreciated! 2. If there is no AC in the home, we’d appreciate working fans to cool down the space. Although having no AC was not a problem for us, a few of the fans were not in working condition so it was a little unpleasant in terms of the interior air flow and temperature. 3. The Primary Bedroom tv was not functioning. It was a minor detail but we weren’t able to enjoy the tv at a time where we would have liked to wind down in bed. Other than this feedback, we really enjoyed the home overall. We would recommend this place to family and friends if the above suggestions were looked at. This was a wonderful stay!

The home than took a while to get to a comfortable temperature. Fireplace was very drafty and the flue was not able to shut properly. - the was mice excrement found on downstairs bedding below the covers. We continued to find mouse droppings in basement during our stay in bedrooms and on the bathroom counter. - kitchen was missing hot pads to cook with. Coffee make brew took 30 minutes plus?

Great Place to Stay!

The lodge was well-prepared for our stay including propane for the grill. We would book this house again and highly recommend it as a rental facility. No communication with the property manager was necessary.
