Great location

My family and I have stayed in this cabin twice! Once during the summer (July) and again during winter (January). Both times were wonderful! The location is perfect. In the summer we were able to do tons of hiking and play in the creek behind the property. In the winter we went sledding and skiing. Everything is very convenient and close! The cabin is clean and cozy. The bedrooms are a good size with comfortable beds. It’s a really great place to relax with friends and family!

Great for Climbers

Great access to Linville Gorge. We had 5 adults. The place was clean, comfortable, and had just enough items such as aluminum foil, spices, etc. Bedrooms are big, but we had 2 staying on the couches. 30 minutes to the Table Rock picnic area (that's about as close as you can get), with access to the Ampitheater, Table Rock, etc. The Wifi worked fine for us until the last day, but wasn't a big deal. There is no A/C, but we didn't need it at all on Labor Day weekend.

Cute and comfy with fantastic location

The location is amazing for anyone wanting to explore Linville Gorge. The house is large, very comfortable and well-equipped, and the outdoor fire pit or porch area could be very pleasant in the evening (we left early and came back late and didn't use either of them). We never saw or heard the tenant. The couch had some dog hair, but hey, it's a pet friendly property. We had our two dogs with us and don't really care about it (they don't go on furniture though), but if someone has terrible allergies that could be uncomfortable. Everything else was impeccably clean. I would definitely stay there again.

Owner doesn’t seem to Care

I’ve never written a negative review, But … First impression when we arrived - front steps had weeds and hadn’t been swept; Front step area hadn’t been swept covered in debris ; walkway between front and back porch deep in weeds; porches out back hadn’t been swept of debris and cobwebs ; outdoor furniture was filthy; Lawn was not recently mowed and was almost mid-high to shins; Firepit area was over-grown with weeds, small trees and stumps. We took time to clean up the porches, furniture and the firepit area so we could sit outside (Not what we should be doing). Good location for day hikes - but very noisy outside with 181 traffic - and from the back deck you can hear conversations of the tenant (owner?) living above garage (even while having coffee at 7 am). I felt bad about leaving my wife to read on the porch while I went fly fishing for 3-4 hrs - so I didn’t go - we just hiked a lot instead. Certainly NOT the peaceful and relaxing get-away we hoped for. Otherwise, it’s a cute place and well cared for inside - and grounds have a lot of potential if given a little TLC. I communicated all of this to the owner, but received no reply, so decided to post this as a favor to other renters. Bottom Line - Recommend finding another place to rent where it’s quiet and most importantly perhaps - an owner that cares enough to prepare for guests (especially when they’re paying 1k for 3 nights). Hi Mark, we're glad you enjoyed certain aspects of this property but sorry your stay fell short in other areas. We followed up with the homeowner, who was very upset to see your review as she was in contact with you throughout your stay and replied promptly to all texts and emails. She would like to share the following: - The porches are always swept as part of the cleaning process, but a severe storm blew through the night before your check-in. There was no time before your arrival to clean off the debris. - The lawn had been mowed and weed-whacked the week before. As I explained in my email, due to the temperate rainforest climate, the grass has to be carefully tended and cannot be cut too short. - I offered to have my caretaker tend to any outdoor areas but was told that wasn't necessary. - I am sorry that you were unhappy, as I did all I could to provide a great stay. I want all guests to have a relaxing visit here, and I will always address concerns quickly for a most comfortable stay.
