Classic 1950s house

We were very surprised to receive this feedback and do not believe it fairly represents our house. Jeanette made this booking on behalf of her husband and did not visit the property herself. We complete a thorough 40‑point cleaning plan before every guest arrives, including all kitchen work areas. We did this before Jeanette’s husband arrived, and her report of food scraps on the kitchen surfaces does not seem credible to us. Although we do our best to make the house as clean and comfortable as possible, it is a well‑maintained, unrestored mid‑20th‑century property, complete with its original fixtures, fittings, furniture, crockery, cutlery, and cookware. There is no dishwasher. If you are in your sixties then this might be the house you grew up in; if you are in your twenties it might be your Grandparents' place. There is a drawer in the kitchen full of implements you might rarely use, never use, or simply wonder what they might be used for. This is how we like it and, judging from our typical feedback, our guests appreciate this authenticity and we have had no complaints regarding cleanliness. Ours is not the sort of rental that has four of everything recently bought from the Warehouse – we understand that this is what some customers want, but it is not what we offer. However I can assure you it is thoroughly cleaned between guests and you will find it as clean, well provisioned and cared for while still offering an authentic experience.

Dear Tracy, I am sorry that the house did not suit you. We try our best to give an accurate description so that prospective guests can decide if it is suitable for them before they book. Awhitu is a rural location, and although it is only an hour or so from Auckland, it is not the place to go if you are looking for a city break. All the facilities present at the house are given on our listing.
