Perched above Christchurch in the leafy hillside suburb of Cashmere, this architecturally designed retreat is bathed in all-day sunshine & showcases breathtaking views. Stylish, spacious & thoughtfully designed, it features multiple living areas and expansive decks for seamless indoor-outdoor living.
Just minutes from the city yet wonderfully private, this tranquil haven lets you unwind among the trees, soak in the views & enjoy the soothing sounds of native birdsong while you relax in style.
THE SPACE:
The property is a two-storey, architecturally-designed home set on a hillside above the city.
Light, bright and spacious with amazing views in leafy surroundings, the house provides plenty of space for even large groups to relax in comfort and style with 4 large bedrooms (1 x King, 3 x Queen, 1 x sofa bed). An upmarket, unique and comfortable home with plenty of space in beautiful surroundings.
â Best of both worlds: Proximity to the city + privacy and space in tranquil surroundings.
đŽ1000 sqm of gardens including water features and extensive native & subtropical plantings.
đMultiple decks, pergolas, balconies and sunny outdoor spaces to take in the stunning views.
đ Multiple living areas , high-speed wifi and dedicated workspaces: ideal for corporate groups.
đïžTwo separate lounges with Smart TVs (55â and 50â) and Netflix included.
đŽLarge kitchen with 90cm oven, convection cooktop and lots of appliances (Nespresso machine, blender, air-fryer, sandwich press...).
đ” Sunny, spacious upstairs lounge includes soundbar, subwoofer and Bluetooth LP player
đTwo bathrooms (1 bathtub), 2 separate toilets and laundry with big Bosch washer and super-efficient Panasonic heat pump dryer.

âïžTwo large heatpumps, panel heaters, solar power, double-glazing & extensive insulation: cosy and comfortable in any weather!
Please note: due to safety hazards (open waterways, trip hazards, high walkways, etc) and easily damaged plantings, the property may not be a good fit for children. We do ask that children are always supervised by an adult in the gardens.
As parts of the property are steep and slippery, please note any âno entryâ signs for your own safety and the protection of growing plants and nesting birds.
GUEST ACCESS:
Check-in is fast and easy using our smart lock.
You will have the entire property to yourself â there are no hosts onsite and no spaces shared with anyone other than the people in your group.
There is free off-street parking available for two cars on our parking deck. We recommended reversing onto the cardeck as this makes it much easier to get out. There is no parking in the driveway or on the lane.
Our street is steep and narrow, so generally not recommended for vans or large vehicles. If you have large vehicles or more than 2 cars, please contact us for parking advice.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Although this is a two-storey house, the upper floor is at street level so can be accessed without stairs.
We have a motion-activated security camera on each of the entrances and one on the parking area for our guests' peace of mind. There are also a few cameras in the gardens to monitor wildlife in the area. Cameras are not monitored but recordings can be retrieved if needed. There are no cameras inside the house.
Unfortunately, due to host allergies we are unable to accommodate any pets (including assistance animals).
As the house is set amongst a number of trees, there will often be a lot of leaves around the property. These build up very quickly so despite sweeping of driveways and decks between guests, you should always expect that there will be some leaves around.
Our rubbish bins are small and only collected once every two weeks. Feel free to use the bins for any rubbish accumulated during your stay but these cannot be used for rubbish brought from elsewhere as we just do not have enough space. Fines will apply for any additional rubbish left outside of the driveway bins.

Kia ora! We are a Kiwi couple but Chris is originally from the UK. After travelling the world full-time for two years, we returned home to NZ and we have been enjoying repaying the favours and inviting guests into our home in Cashmere since June 2020. It was perfect timing too before the world changed!
We enjoyed hosting guests so much that we started a second Airbnb property and since February 2022 have been hosting guests in Cass Bay too. We have been lucky enough to welcome guests from all around the world!
We are in our early 40's but young at heart and very well-traveled. We're always keen to hear about other people's experiences and travel stories.
We are very clean and tidy non-smokers who love living in a unique part of the country, surrounded by nature. We are passionate about the environment and try our best to be eco friendly, generating a large percentage of our energy through solar power. Both of our properties are in quiet spots, so we hope you enjoy the peace like we do.

Voici pourquoi lâhĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement
When we first saw Sherwood Lodge, we were blown away by the amazing setting amongst the trees with those views all the way across town. When we bought Sherwood Lodge, the gardens were fairly overgrown but we could see the potential and have spent three years clearing away vines and weeds, replanting, landscaping and even bringing back to life a long-disused water feature built by previous owners (so we now have our very own stream running through the property!).
We've spent most of our lives travelling the world and have been to more than 50 different countries but we've never been anywhere quite like Sherwood before; we love it here and our guests do too :)

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
The views from the house are breathtaking. Sitting on the deck in the sunshine surrounded by trees and native birdsong, you'll feel like you're a million miles away from the rat race, but Christchurch central city if just a few minutes' drive away. It's the best of both worlds and completely unique.
