We loved this home! It had everything we needed plus beautiful views of the canal! The home was cozy, spacious, well decorated and had a wonderful community salt water pool! The beach was a straight 8 minute drive down the road! There were so many delicious restaurants within 15 minutes! Thanks so much for sharing your home!

Much better than expected!

We enjoyed our stay at the Lost Shaker of Salt house! Short drive to the beach, close to great restaurants and shopping. We made use of the kayaks & bicycles that were provided as well as the community pool. The notebook about the property that the owners provided was extremely helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer. If we ever come back to the Outer Banks, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Double thumbs up!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was so much better than expected. Beautiful location in a gated community within minutes from everything. Sitting on the dock at night and the upper deck in the morning was amazing. Both a check in and check out i was greated by the friendliest staff i believe i have ever encountered. Carolina shores has earned my business for years to come.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lots to unpack but I’ll start with the pros: The neighborhood is lovely. We enjoyed having access to the water for morning and evening fishing and swimming. We took the kayaks out one time and appreciated having that option. The kitchen was well stocked for making home cooked meals. The community pool was very nice.Cons: Inside the house- Cleaning was not up to my standard; balls of hair on the carpet leading upstairs, mildew ran from the bottom of the shower curtain to about 6 inches up in the upstairs shower, floors don’t seemed to have been mopped in quit a while- will turn your feet black if you walk barefoot. Outside- the dock had several nails sticking up. We had 2 children with us and had to constantly remind them to watch out for those, if I had a hammer with me, I would have taken care of those myself. Some boards were rotten/loose. The seating had thorny plants growing through them. The yard is covered in sandspurs- would have been nice to have a warning on that. Some quick fixes can be made to resolve those issues- just relaying to the next guests as a heads up. The problem: We stayed 4 nights. On the last night there, my husband and I laid down to go to sleep (in the upstairs purple room) and within a minute or so, both felt like things were crawling on us. We turned the flashlights on our phones and started looking at the pillows, sheets, and surrounding areas. We found so many teeny tiny bugs all over the bed, walls and nightstands. We had never seen these before and after doing my own research online, I came to the conclusion that they were “bird mites”. Mind you, it rained that whole day so I believe they made their way inside for that reason- For more information on how the property management company handled this situation, see my google review (too much to type in this box).

We’ve been locked out when we arrived

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We don’t have a code number to get into the house. We called the office number no one picked up the phone and called us back. So we have to asked the neighbors for help to connect the owner and went to the office to get the door code. The office sent us the email two days ago which we were on the road and could get it. So we don’t know we cannot have beddings because we are the short time visit (4 days).

A hidden gem!

We loved hanging out on the dock (ladder is hard to get out, but will be extended next year). The house and community have everything you need and more, and is only a quick ride to the beach and other obx activities.

Great Family Vacay

Place is nicely redone, great location, friendly quiet neighborhood. Perfect for our family summer vacation, lots of fun things at the house and locally!

Place was clean, updated, and had great amenities. Rental management and homeowners are top notch.

We loved the provided kayaks and crab gear. We also loved the dock off of the backyard canal. The private beach on bayside and swimming pool were very nice but a little far from the property where you have to drive to them. The island is very congested with traffic and locals love to drive fast around the curves of the roads. We had some minor issues that were handled professionally by the homeowner and rental management. Local restaurants are very good but do fill up quickly. Overall we enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book another week.
