There is a fanciful quality to this secluded property where nature's beauty and luxurious accommodations coexist in quiet harmony. Located on the banks of Holden's Creek, a headwater of the Chesapeake Bay and a 20-minute drive to the pristine white sand Atlantic beach on Assateague Island, The Creek Guest Cottages are private, convenient, and offer bespoke modern amenities. Explore life off the beaten path and take a true vacation. Whether you are kayaking or paddle boarding on the creek, sitting by the fire pit, biking down country roads or going to the beach, you will find plenty to do or enjoy doing nothing at all. The views of the creek are magical at any time of the day or night from inside your cottage or from any vantage point on the 3-acre property. The cottage has been designed and decorated by a professional interior designer.

'Hosta Cottage' has partnered with our friends at Sun Outdoors Resort (located less than 2 miles from the house) so that all guests may enjoy the fun resort amenities FREE OF CHARGE. This extra bonus includes a private beach w/ water rentals, pool, playground, "snak shak", comfort stations & more!

On-site amenities include: a gas grill, 20' radius fire pit, 2 kayaks, a SUP, and 2 bicycles. There is a boat launch on the property and two docks (one floating). Linens and towels are provided.

The Hosta Cottage: 850 square ft. Full Kitchen and Laundry. French Limestone Floors and tiled bathroom. Sleeps 2 (Queen Bed). Separate Private Outdoor Dining area (not included in square footage above). Outdoor Shower. Smart TV. WIFI.

In addition to Hosta Cottage, the compound is also home to two other luxurious dwellings: Porter's Barn and Creek House. All combined, The Creek Compound will accommodate 18 with no parking problems. Please note that this listing is for Hosta Cottage only; the other two homes - Creek House and Porter's Barn - must be booked separately. A direct inquiry should be sent for special event pricing or if you wish to rent the entire compound.

- Linens and towels are included with your reservation.
- No smoking is permitted on the premises.
- This property is pet friendly with a pet fee per pet. Pet fee is $150 per pet. All pets must be disclosed prior to arrival. Pet restriction: limited to one small dog only.
- Any reservations made for a future year (known as "Advanced Reservations") are subject to rate and availability changes. These reservations will be confirmed in January of the arrival year.

Finding the property was challenging. After traveling for 8 hours our online map kept telling us the location was approx 1 mile away at a vacant run down house. We had to call the phone number provided and at first the person who responded, seemed reluctant to give us accurate directions. Once I communicated my frustration, then she started helping us locate the long driveway next to a cornfield. We went up and down the road several times before we could locate the driveway.The only other negative was it seemed there was a pool available at some resort next to the property. This was not clear. The poolIs located at a KOA campground down the road. You receive a pass to go to the KOA once you arrive. This was a little misleading in all the marketing materials.Otherwise, we absolutely love the cottage and especially the location! It is a beautiful setting in the woods, located next to a huge salt marsh. The creek flows through the back yard between the cottage and marsh. Is you are looking for a place to “getaway” after a day at Chincoteague or ocean city, this is it!

There's no denying the property the cottage is located on is purely magical. The sunrise over the creek while the resident birds serenade you was so peaceful while the sunsets were a stunning display of pinks & oranges reflecting off the water. Having said that, I don't feel the cottage reflected the "luxurious accommodations" stated in the description. -A musty smell permeated the furniture, especially the wooden closet & sitting chair.-Bedding and mattress was moderate at best.-Bath towels were thin & small.-Cooking utensils were bare minimum & only 1 medium griddle pan & 2 stock pots provided. -We couldn't find a freezer upon arrival. I immediately contacted the rental company who didn't provide an answer until the next day when our food had already defrosted. Upon using the shared freezer, it locked & I had to call maintenance. They never called back & I just figured it out myself. -Description states 2 kayaks, bikes & a paddle board are provided, but it doesn't mention they are shared with 2 other properties. The AC worked beautifully during the intense heat, parking was ample & the cottage was otherwise clean besides the musty smell. It was also nice to have use of the Sun Resorts amenities. Beaches and stores were all within a 25 minute drive. This cottage has so much potential, but communication needs improvement & the description of the accommodations needs updating so the expectations are more reasonable.

March 2022 Stay

Our place could not have been any nicer, recently renovated, had high quality amenities. We had the most pleasant, peaceful stay. If looking for tranquility and pristine views of the Chesapeake Bay waters this is the place for you.

Spring Break on The Creek

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The proprietor of this location is a close associate of mine and having watched her work for some time I have always admired her touch. This however was the first time I have experienced her design personally. Jenny Barker's design is accommodation paired with subtlety. Wherever you are in the apartment, your every need is within an arms reach without your knowing. I spent 6 days in the Hosta Cottage and my only complaint is that I wish I could've stayed longer. I was very pleased by my stay and would recommend a stay at the Hosta Cottage to anyone and everyone.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I live and work in Washington DC and vactioned on Chincoteage Island with my family when I was a child. My parents were adventureres and would take us for drives off the island to search out other communitites and places of interest on the Eastern Shore. Even though I was young, peering out the back window, I never forgot the wild lushness of the backroads on the "mainland." I found that wild lushness at Hosta Cottage. It is situated on a property that is secluded and breathtakingly pure. I felt like I was at a 4 star resort- nestled in a safe place and away from it all....perched between the best of both worlds. It took me about 20 minutes to drive to the beach on Chincoteague Island one day and I rode my bike to Saxis Island where the road crossed the most beautiful marshland I have ever seen. The accomodations inside the cottage were pristine and incredibly comfortable. The sheets were a very nice quality and the bed was great. I had coffee on my own private patio that was literally on the edge of a high bank overlooking Holdens creek where I watched fish jump and two Giant Blue Herons on the bank. At night, the stars were hypnotizing and I listened to music on the (bluetooth) wi-fi speakers by the firepit. Honestly, this was the best vacation rental I have ever been in. The furnishings inside the house was gorgeous and not the kitchy beach decor. (The pictures are beautiful, but it is even better in person.) The Wifi signal was strong enough to stream movies on Netflix. I couldn't have been happier. This was a perfect escape and only 3 hours from the city. Thank you CRV!
