Small Timbers is the perfect place for some pure Pacific Northwest relaxation, perched above the banks of the Skykomish river with stunning mountain peaks in the distance. Just over an hour from Seattle and located near the end of a dead end road in a quiet vacation community, this cozy 600 sf log home is ideal for a couple's retreat or a solo sabbatical in the forest. Kick back on the covered porch on a warm spring evening and watch the osprey fish in the river below, or get the grill going and cook up a catch of your own. This fully furnished home is well appointed and ready to provide you with a restorative and memorable getaway surrounded by nature.

Beautiful property, nicely set up with everything you need. The view is wonderful! You do have to crouch to get to the top floor, my husband and I are tall so it was a bit tricky. Not as secluded as we thought with neighbors close by. The hot tub with a view was fantastic.

It was very clean the view was beautiful. At night the only way to warm the cabin was to build a fire. It was very generous of them to provide wood and we got more down the road. Additionally, the water had a terrible smell. We still showered, but used gallons for cooking.

Hi Gina, thanks for your review of our Small Timbers. We're glad to hear you had a great stay! Our cabin does indeed have electric heat, as there is a baseboard heater visible in photos just beside the woodstove and information on how to use it is present in the cabin. I apologize if the fresh water had an offputting smell - our water is completely potable, but comes from a well, so it may not be familiar to city water. Happy trails!

The perfect view!

The combination of the mountain view mixed with the calming flow of the river was absolutely perfect! Sitting on the deck or in the hottub was the perfect way to spend our evenings after a long day of hiking!

A wonderful stay

A really wonderful property! A cozy and tranquil place to relax and with great views. The amenities were amazing (hot tub, woodstove, etc.) and we had a very comfortable stay. The very friendly hosts were prompt with communication and the gated community was very quiet and serene (with a bonus waterfall).

Anniversary Getaway

This cabin had a beautiful view and all the amenities we needed to make our 3-day getaway perfect. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again and are already recommending it to others.

Peace and quiet

This is the perfect spot to get away for an extended weekend. It's secluded and right on the river and forces you to slow down and relax. It's just what we needed.

Mountain vacation

Quaint cabin with great views. We love coming to this area every year or so for an escape. We had some issues with the hot tub that made it difficult to use (would randomly spray water which would lead to us needing to get out) but otherwise was a great stay!

The location of this little cabin couldn't be better. We thoroughly enjoyed the views of the mountains and river and would have been happy to stay put all weekend, but did venture out for a couple of hikes:) We hope to visit again and highly recommend this rental to others!

WOW!! Breathtaking

My now fiancée and I stayed five days at this beautiful mountain cabin. The place was well kept and easily accessible. We were blown away daily by the views of waking up underneath the skylight aimed at the mountains. We have just arrived back home in Michigan and are already mapping out a time to go back. Bonus: this area is a great place to propose! She said yes!! Overall, great host who checked in a few times throughout our stay via text to assure everything was up to standards at the cabin, excellent location surrounded by surreal views/hikes as well as many food and drink options, and Seattle just over an hour from the location. Would definitely and will definitely stay again!!

Heaven with a view

This place is absolutely beautiful! Everything went smooth from the booking and check in, to the stay and the departure. The view off the back deck is one of the most awe inspiring things i have ever seen. It is very cozy and comfortable especially with a fire in the wood burning stove. Thank you for the experience and hopefully when i am back on this side of the country I would stay here again.

My husband and I thouroughly enjoyed staying at Small Timbers. It was very clean and cozy and had everything you would need for a week-long stay. The only downsides was there is no washer/dryer and the big beautiful windows have no blinds/curtains. So people across the river can see right into the cabin at night if you have lights on. Also there were more people around than I was expecting, but still relatively private. We loved that we were right up on the Skykomish river and the view was incredible. Overall, an amazing stay and just what my husband and I wanted for our honeymoon!

Amazing Get Away.

Perfect little spot. Coming from the Midwest, it was such a wonderful experience visiting the PNW. The hiking trails nearby were convenient. The cabin had gorgeous views, clean and working hot tub. The only the thing I could nitpick is the stairs up to the loft… it’s an awkward turn going down, not so much up. My wife and I are tall and I’m broad chested. Little tight, but worked fine. Would recommend to everyone. Would love to come back.

Unsure How to Rate Cabin: The Goods were Great, The Bads Were Bad

I'm really torn on how to rate our stay at this cabin. The cabin is cozy and mostly well-maintained. It is in a gorgeous and picturesque location - we loved just hanging out on the deck taking in the view, watching the wildlife, and being lulled by the rushing river. However, we found a dead mouse by the fridge, which was a little concerning since we had both our baby and our dog with us. Also, as another reviewer also mentioned, the water SMELLS like sewage. The manager of the property did admit that the water 'smells sometimes' but that it is totally safe to drink. We didn't get sick from drinking it, but ultimately we had to go buy bottled water from the grocery store because who would wants to drink water that literally smells like poop. The coffee pot is also ridiculously small. This wasn't a huge deal, but a total annoyance that we had to brew multiple pots of coffee each morning just so my husband and I could have our two mug-fulls.

Hi Sarah! The presence of iron in groundwater is quite common which is the cause of the occasional SULFUR smell (not sewage, important to note!). We fully disclose this and have additional water on site so we are unsure what else we could have done to make sure you were happy with the property you chose. We also disclose up front that mice are part of that wildlife in the area and even though we have weekly services from Orkin at all our properties, this is another possible occurrence when staying in a mountain cabin surrounded by wilderness. We specifically reach out to every guest once they've booked to be sure that on the rare occasion one is seen, it isn't going to ruin a stay and give the option to rebook in a less rural area. The smaller footprint of the 5-cup coffee maker in this 2-person studio seemed to work fine for the last several years, but we will go ahead and upgrade that to a standard 12-cup for future guests!

Surreal experience in the woods!

We couldn’t have asked for anything better. We went in to celebrate my spouse’s birthday and they were delighted with the surprise.A much needed escape from the busy life. Got a chance to disconnect and spend time with mother nature while admiring the beautiful snow capped mountains. The sound of the river water gushing forth was a cacophony to our ears.We were interrupted by a power outage but that was an adventurous experience altogether. Scrambling for emergency supplies, making good use of the fireplace to keep ourselves warm. Had only dreamt of all this but got to experience it first hand.The property is simply amazing. Well stocked with supplies which were enough for our entire stay. The host was so hospitable right from the time we booked till we checked ourselves out. They also were kind in offering a 2hr complimentary checkout. The host also helped us navigate through the power outage by sharing timely updates regarding the restoration timelines.I would definitely recommend this place and the host if you’re looking for a spot that gives you access to nature amidst peace and tranquility
