Welcome to Mt Rumney Escapes, a tranquil retreat offering breathtaking views and an authentic Tasmanian experience. Perched on top of a mountain, our property is surrounded by 150 acres of untouched bushland, providing peace, quiet, and incredible wildlife encounters.
Our largest accommodation, Seaview Possum House, features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a spacious rumpus room, making it ideal for families, groups, or anyone seeking a serene escape. Across our six unique houses, we can host up to 43 guests, with options ranging from cozy 2-bedroom retreats to larger homes perfect for groups, events, or sports teams.

Upon check-in, all guests are required to complete our Check-In Form and provide valid photo identification. This process also confirms that guests have read and agreed to our House Rules and Terms & Conditions, and allows us to provide self check-in details.


Important Information
•No Streetlights – Expect stunning starlit skies but bring a flashlight for nighttime walks.
•Bushland Setting – You’ll encounter native wildlife like wallabies, echidnas, and blue-tongue lizards, as well as insects and other critters.
•Gravel Roads – Our secluded location means you’ll be traveling on unsealed roads, so drive carefully.
•Completely Off-Grid – We rely on tank water, a greywater system, generators, solar panels, and gas, offering an eco-friendly experience.
•Amazing Views & Tranquility – Wake up to fresh mountain air, panoramic views of Hobart, Seven Mile Beach, and beyond. On clear nights, you might even catch the Aurora Australis or gaze at the Milky Way.


Getting Here & Amenities
Our property is a 15-minute drive from Hobart City and 17 minutes from Hobart Airport. However, there’s no public transport, so you’ll need a car, Uber, or taxi. Detailed directions are provided, and self-check-in makes arrival easy.
Enjoy walking trails, incredible wildlife encounters, and in the future, additional amenities like BBQ huts, a swimming pool, and a gym. Each house is equipped with modern comforts, including heating, cooling, washing machines, and dryers (except for the Horse Haven).
