Cottage memories and family fun on beautiful Chandos Lake

Welcome to Leaning Pine Cottage on beautiful Chandos Lake in the Kawarthas. We are situated 15 minutes away from the town of Apsley. Our family cottage is located in a quiet bay off the main lake and offers beautiful views of nature. Loon families are regular visitors!

Explore the lake on one of our 2 kayaks, child sized kayak, or stand up paddle board. Swimming can be enjoyed by all and there are hours of fun to be had on the 20ft water Maui mat.

There is plenty of opportunity for fishing on Chandos Lake and the most common catches inclulde: Large Mouth Bass, Rock Bass, and Northern Pike. Chandos' size and shape provide a large open area that is perfect for sailing and windsurfing. The lake also boasts 3 marinas, 3 boat launches and public beach. The are hiking and atv trails close by as well as snowmobiling trails, cross-country skiing trails and snowshoeing in the winter.

The cottage has 4 bedrooms, all with queen sized beds, and 2 full bathrooms. There is a fully equipped kitchen with new refrigerator and stove, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and kettle. Stays include free wifi for guests, HDMI hook up for 2 TVs and an outdoor BBQ. There is an indoor wood fireplace for those chilly evenings and an outdoor steel fire pit that can be used for your enjoyment.

There is a screened in porch that can be used as a workspace or a place to relax and recharge as it has comfortable chairs and a futon. The spacious, enclosed, composite deck (no splinters!) is great for little ones.

Our cottage is pet-friendly so that you can enjoy your time away with your furry family member as well.

The town of Apsley has everything you may need for your cottage vacation. There is a brand new grocery store (to be ready summer of 2023), LCBO, pharmacy, post office, ice cream shop and convenience store.

Beautiful sunsets and views of nature will make this family filled vacation one to remember. Please note that this is a family rental and not intended for parties. Thank you for your understanding.

Great weekend getaway

Cottage was beautiful and clean, came stalked with all supplies you can think of. In a beautiful spot right off the lake with a great dock. Perfect for a peaceful getaway with friends!

While this guest was lovely to communicate with we had a lot to tidy up when we came up. The outdoor fire pit was not put back in order (all screens removed and ground covered with soot), an indoor table was left outside, and the smell of smoke from the fire pit lingered in the basement as the door was clearly not closed while burning. There were cigarette butts by fire and toothpick flosser found on deck. The most challenging part was the garbage rules were not followed. Since guest did not put garbage in bear bin as directed, we arrived to a bag of torn up garbage with used tampons spread around the property. Recycling was not taken to the curb either. Additionally there were dirty dishes put away in cupboard. Unfortunately this guest did not follow the rental requirements as outlined in the guest book and the cottage was not taken care of as we would have hoped.

This cottage was absolutely perfect for our little family. Very clean and loved how homey it felt .Our daughter caught her first lake trout and it was a beauty. Hopefully we will be returning.

A beautiful getaway

The property is very well kept and the scenery is very nice. It’s a good place for water sports and the cottage provides a lot of toys for that. The drawback is mosquitoes which is rampant and it significantly reduces the outdoor living time on the beautiful deck

This cottage was such a family fun experience. Amazing Host! Mike replied quickly to messages. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and clean! The kids had so many activites to enjoy and the view was breath taking. The water sports equipment is readily available, we will highly recommend this cottage to others because its not just a cottage, its a memory maker for any family that loves a tranquil setting. Thank you again for the greatest week of the summer.

My family and I rented this cottage from Mike for Thanksgiving weekend 2025. The cottage is amazing! From the little designs (old skates on the wall) to all the board games, even the drive way that lead to the cottage, everything went together perfectly. The weather was getting a little chilly given that it's mid-October, however it didn't stop us from spending much of our time on the patio. It was perfectly size and fence up. Our dogs love being out there and we love spending time with them out there. The place was very clean and all the amenities were provided. We couldn't have asked for more. It was a wonderful weekend.

Unforgettable Family Moments on Chandos Lake

Our stay at Chandos Lake was everything we hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, the peaceful surroundings and crystal-clear water made it feel like a true escape. Days were filled with laughter, swimming in the refreshing lake, and casting lines off the dock—especially the unforgettable moment of reeling in a bigmouth bass!Evenings were just as magical—gathering around the fireplace with a guitar in hand, sharing stories, singing songs, and watching the stunning sunsets paint the sky in shades of gold and orange. It was a perfect mix of relaxation and family bonding.Chandos Lake gave us memories we'll cherish forever—simple joys, nature's beauty, and quality time together.
