The Lodge MCA 196 - Meredith Lodging

Our extended family of 11 had a wonderful time at this location. I was worried, since there were many mixed reviews - but the place was GREAT. Everything worked well - kitchen appliances, hot tub, grill, bathrooms, etc.True, it is not the newest property, but we have stayed in several beach properties over the years, and we have seen way worse. It may not be new, but it was clean and it met our expectations. Our family loved all of the SPACE - rooms spread out, decent bathrooms, a dining table where all of us could cram around, and especially the large living room area where we could ALL sit and relax. Even the dog. If anyone needed personal space, they could also hang out downstairs in the smaller hang-out area, or they could sit on the porch in the sunshine.The LOCATION is also fantastic - it is a one-minute walk to the sand, then a five-minute walk through the sandy trail, up and over a small dune, to the actual beach. Not bad at all - our oldest members (in their 80s) were able to navigate it with a little help, so that we could all enjoy a bonfire at sunset. It is a 5-minute drive to town, but we also walked it in 20 minutes - you can walk through the neighborhood or on the beach to get there and back. Nehalem Bay State Park is a five-minute walk south of the house, several of us walked the paved, 2-mile trail and enjoyed seeing elk and beautiful beach views.Overall, we highly recommend this place. In fact, we already reserved it for next year!

Not What We Expected

I’ll start with the positives: the house is in a great location and a 2 minute walk to the beach! It fit our huge family perfectly. The negatives: denied an early check in and were told it was because housekeeping was still there. However we were already at the property and nobody was there. The house was rather dirty (floors, dishes and bathtubs). The hot tub never got above 84 degrees so we weren’t able to use it. The lower level doesn’t heat up and has a bad smell. The WiFi and cable only work on the third level (main living area) so the basement living room was not very functional. Only one power outlet in the entire kitchen works. We had contacted the host about some of these issues during our stay and never received a reply. We checked out this morning and have still not received a reply after sending four messages. I would not stay at this property again.

Needs TLC - Disappointed

Large home with lots of room - w/ nice living room area. Several issues with this house, though. Broken/worn-out & dated features throughout the home. Black mold and mildew in several bedrooms and bathrooms. Stained and dirty carpet. Rusty hardware on doors & windows with some difficult to close or lock. Some baseboards and other finish work missing in bathrooms. Broken wobbly bed frames & uncomfortable mattresses. Stained headboard in the Master bedroom. Garbage cans completely full/overflowing outside. Sand & debris in hot tub. Very mildewy items in garage - the chairs and anything else fabric were absolutely unusable. No laundry soap or dryer sheets for washer & dryer. Sand all over the covers in 1st Queen bedroom and literally soiled /crusty blankets. Broken toilet paper holder which was falling out of the drywall in half bath. Although this home is located in a beautiful area, I would look at other options that are better maintained. This house needs some TLC. We rent 3-4 vacation homes on the Oregon Coast each year & we will not rent this particular place again. We were unexpectedly required to check in 3 hours later than agreed upon, which was a significant inconvenience for our special needs guest. (Having driven from Idaho - they were exhausted). We were finally allowed to check in at 6:00 p.m. & cleaning crew was still there.

Kitchen/Family Room area great gathering space

We spent most of our time in the Family Room and Kitchen which is all one big gathering area. Short walk to the beach and we couldn’t have had better weather.

Too Many Problems

The trip started out with a problem. The door lock and on the front door would not work. I contacted Meredith and the person was not able to help. Not sure how, but the front door finally opened. The problem was that it still did not work. And no key to lock up when we left the house for dinner. I called again and finally got someone that helped get a key from one of the other lockpads. I was told that a maintenance person would be there to fix. Never showed up during our 4 day stay. The hot tub is in an area with lots of sand. Only a couple of stepping stones filled with sand. Basically unusable. Then the propane gas was empty. Took three calls to finally get help. Also screen on the screendoor was busted and someone used painters tape to fix. And the half toilet chain busted and was not usable. The inside of the house was great. But all of the other problems ruined our stay. Definitely need better response time from Meredith and needs review of the house before renters arrive.

beach time

not for posting: just want to thank you for getting a new dishwasher and attending to our requests. A few things you should know about: the drains in the powder room by the kitchen and one of the drains in the bathroom downstairs were very very slow. there is some kind of problem. and the bathroom with the pink light was strobing whenever you turned it on, so there is a problem there. otherwise, everything worked and we enjoyed our stay as much as the dog on the beach did.. thanks.

Could be great!

The layout of the home, and it's location to the beach were perfect. Kitchen well stocked, as well as plenty of bedding. Hot tub nice, and large deck too, but no yard to speak of. But, the cleanliness and condition were disappointing when you consider the fees we all pay. 1. Urine odor on blue recliner/pillow in living room (previously reported in other review) 2. Urine in twin bedroom on entry floor. 3. Broken cupboard hanging from the hinges in kitchen. 4. Basement bedroom bed not made. 5. All floor rugs in a pile in corner in basement. 6. Towels still in dryer - and many very stained. Had to rewash, and still some pretty disgusting. No bleach products to use to sanitize towels. 7. Screen door to deck broken. 8. Lounge chair on deck broken. As is a plastic chair that was thrown over deck in backyard. If I rented this home again, it would be because the space is perfect for what we need. However, I would bring additional cleaning products. A swifter would be wonderful, and definitely some better laundry soap. They do have lots of beach towels and large garage space. The house is just tired and needs some attention. And, the cleaning crew needs to be certain to complete all duties before leaving.

We had a wonderful stay with our adult children and grandchildren. The home was well equipped and lovely. Just a short walk to the beach. The hot tub was enjoyed by all. The central living area included a wrap around outside deck with large dining table and grill. Well-appointed bathrooms and bedrooms and even beach toys and boards.

Family Reunion

This has a spacious great room and kitchen layout that worked well for our group of 13 senior adults. The dishwasher, ice maker, and TV in the great room do not work. There are no operating instructions for these or any appliances. A sink in the first-floor bathroom drains very slowly. We were given a number to call the owner with any problems or questions. Our calls were never returned. We finally went to the office of Meredith Lodging, and they provided us with dish soap and towels to do the dishes. We believe we deserve a partial refund. .... And still no communication from the owner.

Fantastic location, improvements needed

This house is really great for a large family or group of friends looking for easy beach access. One of the best beaches on the Oregon coast is a 5 minute walk away. The house itself could be fantastic with some improvements. Previous reviews have captured the issues well, though we didn't have any problem with the cleanliness of the house. All the mattresses on the lower floors are in need of replacement. We were told before our stay that the washing machine and dishwasher were broken, so we came prepared, but it would have been nice to get a small discount for the broken appliances. Overall though, the common areas are comfortable and great for big gatherings, the deck is really nice, and the hot tub was basic but operational.

Lack of Communication

We ren. So ted this house so that our entire family could be together for our anniversary. We wer notified that the washer would not be available, I called to make sure how we should handle the checkout, because washing was required. It was not the washer, but dishwasher that would not work. We had to wash the dishes for each meal, and they only provided a three ounce bottle of dish soap. On Friday evening, after our arrival we were palanning on using the propane grill for dinner. The propane lasted about five minutes. I contacted the office and they would send another propane tank on Saturday. Supposedly the perso bringing the propane was going to look at the dishwasher and see if it could be fixed. He never even came into the house. Everything worked out but these frustrations caused by their team caused unnecessary problems for us.

Great location yet needs work and deep cleaning

Location is fantastic. Perfect set up for a beach getaways (we had 8 adults - ages 50- 57), the great room and kitchen area are perfect to accommodate and thhe mutli level bedrooms gave everyone nice space. Access to beach is steps away and restaurants and grocery are within a long walk or quick drive. Walk to beach to see sunset is amazing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay however this house needs a deep cleaning and repairs. It felt like no one has lived there in a while to make sure things are operating or that supplies are working and available. Washing machine was not working - they let us know two weeks before so we knew that going in. Since then the listing has been updated to reflect this broken appliance. The dishwasher was also not working - opened a ticket with maintenance, gave permission to enter while we were out and no one came. The kitchen cabinets were dirty on the outside, along with crumbs inside on the shelves. the bed in the master is comfortable, the beds on the lower floor could be replaced - when sleeping two people, it creates a dip in the middle. The screen door in the kitchen out to the deck and master have tears in the screens, wood window ledges look like they’ve incurred rain or seaside damage. The nice leather lounger chair in the corner smelled like cat urine - we couldn’t figure out whether it was the pillow or the baseboard. The house could be incredible with a detailed eye towards repairs and deep cleaning.

Stay at Manzanita Beach

The host/company was really slow replying messages on Vrbo. There was water dropping down on the bunk bed downstairs. The beds were not in good condition! The hot tub was not working, not even ready even though it was listed as available.

Disappointing

The home was dirty when I arrived. Stuck on gunk on the counter. Towels still in the drying and trash left in rooms. All the kitchen and dining stuff was old, limited and in some cases dirty. The house was beat up. The vacuum, iron and hair dryer were beaten up on their last leg. Everything seemed old and shabby. It was way below the standard we have come to expect from your organization.

Perfect for our group

There were 9 of us plus our pooch and we had plenty of room to spread out. The home was well stocked with everything we needed to make group meals. The house is a quick drive or long-ish walk into town and a stone's throw from the beach. The hot tub was an added bonus. My suggestion to the owner is to remove all of the unnecessary electronics and invest in a larger smart tv, sound bar, and subwoofer. Everyone has their own streaming subscription these days.

Family Getaway

We loved the space on the main level. Plenty of seating and space for the 1 & 3 year old to play. It was pretty clean, but could use a deep clean on vents and top of cupboards and fridge. Hot tub was great and close walk to the beach.
