We loved this location! Close to the beach and Mo’s. We discovered new rocks with tons of starfish, mollusks and even a cave without all the crowds at Haystack Rock. The house was comfortable and spaciousand our hosts were fabulous! It is always a treat to stay at Cannon Beach and the price was very reasonable.

The overall stay was nice however there were dishes leftover in the dishwasher and there were four dirty mattresses blocking the parking spot. There weren’t very many towels or toilet paper. We also had to buy a sponge because there wasn’t anything to clean the dishes with. Oddly enough all the coffee mugs were stained and the fire extinguisher hasn’t been serviced since 2009…. But what I will say is that it was hard to find a place where we could fit as many as we needed to so I’m very thankful for that. I just think that they need a better maid or someone more observant to make sure everything is order for the next guess. I would come here again but I would have to bring a bunch of stuff that I wouldn’t normally need to at an Airbnb.

Great place for a big family

Like how cozy and clean the house is and the amount of space it has. Also how it’s a 4 minute walk from the beach, The dishwasher was broken but communicated to us before our arrival. We will most definitely be staying there in the future it had everything we needed.

The host was amazing and quick to answer any questions I had. Their provided reading materials and various board games provided much needed entertainment when we weren't out and about. We were especially grateful for the surplus bedding and the quality of hot water. Lastly, access to a washer/dryer, dishwasher, and the supplied detergents made the stay everything we needed it to be.The checkout process couldn't have been more simple and straight forward.

Great place!

We stayed here for our annual cousins gathering, and this house was great! It was clean, cozy, had plenty of room for everyone, and it was an a convenient location to access the beach. It had everything you needed in the kitchen. I loved that it had a washer and dryer! I would highly recommend this place!

Comfortable and Spacious

We enjoyed staying at this property. We loved that there were three floors, so the family had room to spread out.The light coming through the large windows on the main floor was wonderful. The property was easy to locate, and having two parking spots was much appreciated.

Fun with friends

Our stay at the Hemlock House was wonderful! It very comfortably fit two families with kids, who spent much of the time when not at the beach playing foosball, doing puzzles (the house has many puzzles and books), and playing hide and seek. The gas fireplaces are very cozy, and the adults even spent a night watching a movie on Apple TV. The kitchen is small but well stocked with tools, including crackers for crab, nice pots and pans, and sharp knives. The beach is a 5 minute walk away with easy access. It is definitely a well loved older home with minor wear issues - which with children, I appreciate not having to worry about spilled milk or a scuff on the floor. I very much appreciated that the flooring was all hard (no carpet), and my tree and weed allergies were not an issue there. I would not hesitate to return in the future.

There was a gas leak in the house. We couldn’t use the stove and oven as the gas company came and shut off the gas to the stove. None of the smoke detectors worked as the batteries were dead. I replaced the batteries.

Cozy House WALKING distance to beach

Our stay was relatively good. No real issues with the property. The dishwasher wasn’t working, which was communicated on the day of check in. It was a little last minute, but still understandable. We loved that we were within walking distance of the beach, and only a short 5 minute drive to downtown Cannon Beach. This felt like staying at an older relative’s house. It’s cozy, but it’s got its own quirks.

The house was not clean and that made it difficult to be at ease during our stay. It was very dusty. Several things were broken, the most obvious was a headboard hanging down from one of the beds. The furniture and building materials of the house were either very old, or made of some inexpensive material.

Very disappointing

I agree with the comments from Sylvana S on July 2024, Kelley W. on Sept. 1, and Kevin O. on October 2024. Great beach price but you get what you pay for. This will not be on our family vacation spot in the future!

Hello Bill, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Please know that we strive to provide accurate representations of our property including its size, layout and features. So we are left wondering what we could have done to earn a 5 star review. VRBO does consider anything less than 5 stars as subpar and we would have loved to know what could have been done to enhance your stay! It was a pleasure hosting you and we would gladly have you back.

Place is a little bit run down, pictures are deceiving. On top of that, we had a severe issue involving a gas leak that required the gas to be shut off for half our stay - we couldn’t shower, cook or do laundry. We understand things happen but the property management handled it very poorly. I still haven’t received any type of credit or compensation back and VRBO is no help either. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere
