As the name suggests Lake Terrace Lockwood is located right on the main strip of Taupo. Cross the road and you can dip your toes in the crystal clear fresh waters of Lake Taupo. A nice stroll along the lakeside walkway will have you in town within 20 minutes.

**While this property can sleep a maximum of 8 guests, we do not allow more than 4 adults per booking. This home is best suited to family groups.

This family bach will invite you to flick the switch on holiday mode as soon as you arrive.

Downstairs is an open plan fully kitted out kitchen, dining area and lounge which all seamlessly open up to both the front and rear decks. Down the hallway is one bedroom, a bathroom and the laundry.
Upstairs there is a further two bedrooms where you can enjoy the beautiful lake and mountain views from as well as the 2nd bathroom. The bunks are only suitable for children.
The geothermal hot tub is the perfect place for the kids to play or for a hot soak at the end of a busy day exploring all that Taupo has to offer. The jets do not work on the hot tub.
No hidden costs - bedding, towels and exit clean are included in the nightly rate.
This property is located in a quiet residential area and is strictly not suitable for loud groups, parties or events.
NB. Heatpump for heating, woodburner is not available for guest use.
The out-door hot tub stays empty. You will need to fill it when you wish to use it. It can take a couple of hours to fill.
Bedding configuration: 1 x King, 1 x Queen, 2 x single bunks (4 singles) & 2 x single beds. We allow a maximum of 8 guests in total, but no more than 4 adults per stay.
Lockwood homes are known to creak. This is due to the wood expanding and contracting as the temperature changes. This is completely normal.

We enjoyed our stay in Taupƍ but did feel a bit disappointed with this property. The outside of the property in particular needs some attention. The seating area at the back did not match the photographs. The grass needed mowing, the deck needed a good clean and surely the washing line could be placed in a better position rather than hanging across the table. Inside, the oven needs an upgrade as the door often needed to be held shut to stay on, making heating food a challenge. The upstairs shower was a dribble, meaning 6 of us had to use the downstairs shower. The location was great but with a little TLC this property could be improved, particularly considering the cost to rent it.

Not what we expected

The house was very dusty it also had a very awkward driveway lawns were rough and leaves were in spa pictures on the website were very deceiving all in all it wasnt what we expected still a very nice place justs needs to be updated and maintained more

Great spot

Great spot to spend a bit of RnR up in Taupo - spa from thermal water is awesome and nice and hot!! The creaks and groans of the old Lockwood add to the Lodge feeling :) Great retro house, brought back a lot of memories during our stay —thank you!!

Loved the hot tub

There was plenty of room for our family and the kitchen had everything to cook meals, plus a nice outdoor grill. The beds were comfortable. The spring fed hot tub was the gem of the bach. Learning how to use the stove was tricky. The stove is straight out of the 70's. I wish they had more specific instructions on how to turn on and use the stove. Also, one burner did not work at all. Overall, we had a great stay and i would stay there again.

Great! It's such a lovely spacious home.

Great. It's a lovely spacious home, however is a Lockwood so is quite noisy. Didn't bother us but people need to think about it with kids. Their moving about would make a lot of noise. The showers are also very small and I you were people that we on the larger side you wouldn't even be able to get in the door. However we loved it and would go back.

Girls get away

We a group of 45 plus year old women. Great place to stay, was clean and great location. Some beds were a little uncomfy for the "old girls" but with a few wines under their belts they slept ok.

Retro family bach

This is a classic kiwi family bach. It has some very cool retro features and decor. There are lovely views of the lake, especially from upstairs and the location is good. It is just across the road from the lake, although it is a very busy road to cross especially with young children. There is a nice big backyard area. The property is managed by Lakeside Accommodation and they were fantastic to deal with and very receptive to feedback. I would highly recommend booking directly through them if considering this property (rates may be lower also). We stayed in winter (July School holidays) and there were a few things we were disappointed with: - the hot tub is more of an outdoor bath. It is an old, patched up shell of a spa pool that you need to manually fill with geothermal bore water every time you want to use it. There are no jets (as described) but there is also no filter, pump or heater: you just put in a make shift plug, then wait for it to fill. Filling takes 2-3 hrs which really limits the use of it as you need to be home while it is filling up. There is no method to keep the water hot so it cools down very quickly in winter. The listing has since been updated to describe this accurately though. - the house is an older style Lockwood home. Apparently, it is normal for these houses to creak and bang at night as the wood expands, especially as the temperature changes. We had no idea about this but the banging was VERY loud, and often waking us (and the kids) from sleep. This is probably worse in winter. Again, the listing has been updated to include this too. - the house is very dated (which is part of its charm in many ways) and as such some of the appliances (eg oven, cooktop) are very old and slow. A few aspects (eg the carpet) are in worse condition than the photos show. The showers are tiny and the water pressure in both showers was terrible. The house is quite dark with very little natural light, this meant it felt pretty dreary in winter. Would probably be fine in summer, especially when you could use the outdoor living areas more.
