We really enjoyed this spacious and elegant classically styled apartment in the 8th. It is perfectly located for shopping and getting to other parts of the city. Our ability to do that was compromised somewhat due to the strike, but otherwise it is close to the major cross-town Metro and bus lines. The kitchen is modern with a dishwasher and stackable washer/dryer on one side, and having two fully equipped bathrooms with an additional WC felt like a luxury.
There’s a Monoprix a few blocks away for convenient stocking of the fridge, plus another small market up the street, and a bakery and several restaurants within walking distance, including two on either side of the apartment entrance, one French and the other Italian, that are owned by residents of the building. There is also an elegant Michelin-starred restaurant a half a block up the street, and the owner’s guide has a list of several others in the neighborhood.
For the two of us the apartment was a welcome refuge after a day spent walking the wintry streets to sink into the comfy living room couch and relax before dinner. The apartment is roomy, with a full-sized dining room, living room and family room with a television with Netflix access. It was also a ideal spot to leave our bags for two quick trips to Normandy and Champagne, with Gare St. Lazare a short distance away by taxi.
There is some street noise from the bar on the corner on weekends, but with the windows closed and earplugs it mostly faded into the background. The owner was very helpful and always available for questions; she helped us figure out the intricacies of French heating systems, and the booking transaction was easy. We felt very much at home in the neighborhood, and recommend it for those who like to be close to the luxury brands that the area is known for. We now have two weeks’ worth of fond memories to treasure until next year, when we will hopefully return to Paris.
