The community is constructed around a castle from the 17th century, with the quay and harbour serving as additional attractive focal points. There is a chapel with lovely stained glass, Mary Anne's, an Egon Ronay eatery. The town of Skibbereen, which is a few kilometres away, has a lot of stores and eateries as well as the West Cork Arts Centre and Skibbereen Heritage Centre. A excellent golf course and an indoor sports complex are also nearby. A fantastic home base for exploring this region of Cork.
