Nightmare in Indy: deceptive listing turns eclipse getaway into roach-infested disaster.

Four of us were traveling into Indy to see the Eclipse Apr 5-8 2024. We arrived late Friday night and check in was accurate and easy to follow. When we arrived the outside was dark but manageable and the stairs were a bit treacherous. Inside the apartment was where the major issues came to light. The photos make it seem like it’s an up to date, which is not the case. The paint is half done, the floors are highly uneven and dirty, the ceilings were a hack job of unfinished plaster, and there is an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. The cleanliness is the biggest issue. We counted as many as 20 roaches in the kitchen and bathroom. One of beds didn’t have a fitted sheet over the stained mattress and the pillowcases (which there were not enough of for 4 of us) were stained. Linen is said to be provided but there were no additional pillows, blankets and upon arriving we had no towels. We contacted the host about this right away and she did respond saying the issue would be resolved. The next morning we messaged asking when the towels would arrive and were told sometime that day. We got back after our day of exploring at midnight and still had no towels. We asked again and finally were awoken with knock on the door at 1:30am where a random man handed us a garbage bag full of stained mismatched towels. The location was good for us as it was about 10mins from everything, but I would discourage anyone from staying here

Beware - not a place to stay.

I had to message the “host” the day of our stay tt get the check in details. The house was difficult to find in the dark. The outside stairs leading to the house were unlit and uneven. I ended up falling and getting injured. The neighborhood was sketchy, the inside stairs were sketchy then upon entering, the most horrible smell of smoke was present although was advertised as non smoking. Next the kitchen one side of the sink was clogged with foul smells and rancid water sitting in it. I opened the dishwasher and a roach ran under the sprayers. The bathroom was average clean The bedrooms had a thick layer of dust as did the hallway floor boards. The house did not feel like a safe place to stay due to health issues. I immediately contacted the host who said she would get back to me. Meanwhile we moved to a hotel for the night as it was past midnight at this time. I continued attempts to contact the host, receiving the same response — we will get back to you. they never did. I have to keep contacting them asking for a refund for a house that was not only unsafe but was unsanitary. I outlined the problems and the only response was — I’ll get back to you. Only after threatening to file a complaint with VRBO did they offer an unsatisfactory response— a partial refund after multiple attempts. I feel taken advantage of and I hope this review serves as a warning to others considering this location. Rent at your own risk. The hosts do not care abt your safety and wellbeing.
