Una yurta è una struttura circolare in tessuto simile a una tenda con una struttura in legno reticolare che ha avuto origine tra le tribù nomadi in Asia. Queste strutture permanenti e colorate hanno pareti esterne in tela spessa che includono isolamento riflettente e una pompa di calore / unità AC ad alta efficienza in modo da poter stare comodo in ogni stagione. Le yurte stanno rapidamente diventando una nuova esperienza di vacanza che i vacanzieri stanno godendo in tutti gli Stati Uniti dalle viste sulla scogliera in California alle baite in Colorado. Our yurt was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Lots of space to spread out and the grounds were wonderful. A great place to come "home" to after being out hiking and biking. So peaceful in Southwest Harbor. Our only complaint was the small shower and limited number of towels for 5 days. On site laundry was great too.

The shower is a standard stall shower, which is shown in our listing photos, and as an eco-friendly property, we encourage guests to reuse towels and linens throughout their stay since we do not provide daily housekeeping. Had such a a great time and the yurts are on the quiet side of Acadia. It lets you do some exploring on other parts of MDI and you don't need to go to Bar Harbor for everything. Loved it!

Wonderful stay on the quiet side of MDI. Enjoyed Acadia and relaxing in the yurt after active days outside. Highly recommend, plan to visit again!

Beautiful, quiet forest retreat

We loved Acadia Yurts! Our yurt was clean and well-stocked. We were able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. It was great being so close to the park, as we spent our days hiking. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, unique place to stay!

Little Yurt in the Big Woods

What a charming, cute, comfortable place!! We loved our stay near beautiful Acadia National Park in this cozy and unique setting and would absolutely come again. Quiet and pretty, offered everything we needed, and the hosts were so nice!

The best managed property I have ever stayed at. Superb communication with Aaron and Karen. We cooked in every night and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The pots and pans and dishes and glassware were high quality and the kitchen was spotless.
A delightful spot to enjoy a cappuccino and a bowl of oatmeal!
What a wonderful feeling to walk into the Yurt. It was spacious, well appointed and so clean!

It was our first time staying in a Yurt and we LOVED it ! So spacious, owners thought of everything, very clean and close to Acadia . We will definitely be coming back .

Host: Karen Roper

Aaron is a Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.

Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite (pending availability).

As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home; running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We truly hope you enjoy our property and your time here as much as we do.
