Pilot House 328- Spring Break 2023

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pilot House 328 was perfect for the trip my daughter and I took over Spring Break. The size was perfect as it was just the 2 of us; location was great, and management was very quick to answer any questions we had. We had plenty of activities right outside in Baytowne Wharf; Jolee Island was a short walk and the tram allowed us to travel to additional locations without the need to drive, search and pay for parking. Overall, this was a great experience. All staff- whether it be within Pilot House; local cafés; those working the activities within the resort or the tram driver- we very pleasant and helpful. Definitely a place we will visit again!

When was good but needs some updates

The room was quite dark. Yes, there is a window but that window doesn’t let in a lot of light, and we had two lamps in the room but only one worked/Bulb was burnt out. Needs a bigger TV in the room so that the whole family can enjoy. Towels, maybe some beach towels? Or trade out regular towels after a couple days? We love the location, as we have stayed in the Square at other condos a few times. I just want to give you a bit of advice to make your customers stay a better one.

Wouldn't rent this or recommend

The beds were horrible. They were so uncomfortable and made loud noise when you move so you could not sleep. They need to be replaced. Also assumed there room did not have a chair to sit on. The room temp wouldn't stay comfy either. When we did get to talk to someone they said they would move us only to get another call saying that was going to happen. When I asked for a refund for the rest of our stay so we could try to get somewhere at least to get some sleep again I was told no. So now I get to go through more hassle to dispute this and at least get a partial credit. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL DEFINITELY GET THIS INFO OUT EVERYWHERE I CAN!

Convenient for Wine Fest

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Rental was available about an hour before check-in time, which was nice. It's all the way at the end of the hallway on the main level of the Pilot House. Upon arrival, it appeared clean, but had a light bulb out. We were able to take one from the bathroom fixture to replace. It's very dark in the room as it's a lockoff and is technically only a bedroom and bathroom. I dropped my earring when taking it out and was horrified to look underneath the DVD player and the beds. It was very dirty and looked like they hadn't cleaned underneath in a long time. Overall, not a bad unit, but definitely not as great as some of the other units I've stayed in. It was nice to be in the village for Wine Festival 2021.

Perfect for What We Needed

As listed, this is set up like a hotel room with two double beds, a nightstand and dresser. There is a small mini fridge, microwave, and toaster available. Beach chairs and umbrellas in the closet for use. Location is great - close to pool area and parking garage. Easy access to Baytowne Wharf. Shuttle access right out front door of Pilot House. Communication was excellent and we did book two events with their partner xplorie for deep sea fishing which was amazing, and a snorkel/dolphin cruise. Again it was enjoyable and both were great prices. Took away one star only because they came to repair an outlet, but power to it was never restored. We mad with work with others in the room though. Also the bed frame on the bed closest to window did not have the plastic covers, leaving a sharp edge exposed and easy to scrape your shin on. This happened to my spouse and it did require antibiotic treatment as he developed cellulitis where it broke the skin. All in all it is a great place if you aren't planning on spending much time in the room and just need a place to sleep after enjoying all the resort and Destin area have to offer.

October 2019 Stay

We love this area, this is our 5 time here, But, this time maybe we didn’t pay Attention to the room’s condition. We rented for 5 nights, just my husband and me ( 25 Anniversary ) Very very uncomfortable time, We don’t have any chair, table, patio or a place to sit and eat or drink a coffee 🙄 We have 2 beds( we don’t need 2 beds, 1 is enough, but, chairs and a table is necessary ). We have dishes and Dishwasher liquid soap , but we don’t have a dishwasher 🤪😜. We are washing dishes in the bathroom sink. A worker asked us about the room and we talk about our problems But she looked around and said: I’ll talk at the office... but nothing happened The shower curtain is really really fury, it has a lot of black dirt, like fungus. I’m sorry, normally I don’t like leave a bad review... but this time is doing really bad to us. ( today is our 4 day here, and the worker never came back with the solution to this problem) Sandestin golf and beach resort is a beautiful place but...

Please note the property description clearly states that these are "hotel style studios with queen-sized beds, a 26" flat screen HDTV, a kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and basic dinnerware supplies". We have many bigger and more spacious units that you would be more comfortable staying in for future visits. In the future, if the shower curtain does not meet your standards or if there are other issues you would like addressed in your unit, please call us and we will send our Hkpg or Maintenance staff over to take care of it. We also are disappointed to hear that you discussed your concerns with staff members and never heard back. You may have interacted with a non-Gibson associate. We make sure to follow up with everyone! We hope you otherwise enjoyed your stay-being steps from the Village of Baytowne Wharf with its world class restaurants, shopping and numerous activities for you to enjoy!

Perfect location for walking to stuff in the village

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great location just steps from all the restaurants, night activities, marina, etc of Baytowne Warf. The studio is more aptly described as a hotel room, which was fine for us, as we just need a place to sleep. The one thing that would really improve this room would be getting rid of the bulky dresser and putting a long skinny dresser with enough surface area on top to have room to put stuff. The little area by the fridge is not even big enough for making sandwiches and filling up water bottles. We loved finding the door right next to the room that allowed direct acces to the garage and pool without having to walk the very long hallways. We didn’t use the shuttle bc leaving all the beach stuff in the car was easier and there is plenty of parking beachside right where the shuttle drops you off. We never left the resort for eating, as there are so many options. Really liked the free perks from Gibson and the apps. We love staying at Sandestin because we hate the Destin traffic. The resort is beautifully well kept and has so much to offer. Oh, and as others have mentioned, they definitely need more hooks for hanging stuff in the bathroom. This is a great budget friendly choice for those looking to stay at the fancy place, but not pay the fancy price!

We currently don't manage any properties that have assigned parking but are hopeful the Pilot House Association has a plan for the future with parking. Great Trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The room was perfect for our needs. It has a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker - works great for a quick breakfast. Located at Baytowne- so you are convient to restaurants and low key night life without having to drive. The staff responded to any question very quickly.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The room is a just cozy enough for 2 adults and 1-2 kids. Beds are SUPER comfortable. Bathtub is super deep if you like to take a bath. The price for this room was unbeatable and the rep I spoke to was super nice. Reservation process was super easy. Their downloadable app was very helpful!! The only downsides: no table or dresser. All your bags have to sit on the ground. (Unless the other bed isn’t in use.) There is one very small closet. And there is only 2 rolls of tissue provided and 4 towels. (We had to buy more tissue), and was glad I brought a few towels from home. The other thing, is this room is at the very end of 3-4 long hallways, which is a little inconvenient...We still very much enjoyed the place and would def stay again, but probably in a different room. The amenities at Baytowne Wharf were awesome. The sights and scenery are BEAUTIFUL!!

As is customary in vacation rental units, we do provide 2 rolls of tissue to get you started until you make a market trip; slightly different than a hotel. Good Alternative to More Expensive Options

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, a good experience with 1 thing to be aware of. The first - when I originally booked the reservation in early 2018, I thought I was booking a 2 bedroom 2 bath with a small living room. In April, I went back to the site and realized when I read other reviews (that complained about misleading info about the rental) that I only rented the adjoining room, so 1 room, 1 bath. Originally I think they had a floor plan image of the entire “combined” rental, but at this point it is shaded properly to show the smaller area your actually renting. It worked out for me because it ended up only being me that stayed there, but if I there were 4 people it would have been “tight”. It looks like the info about the size of the accommodation has been updated to be more obvious about exactly what you’re getting, so hopefully this is a non-factor moving forward. The online/app check in / check out, key access was very convenient and worked without any problems at all. Overall, as long as you know you’re getting 1 room with 2 beds and a bathroom for a pretty inexpensive rate (for Sandestin), you should be satisfied.

Cute, clean, but disappointing

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First, I would like to say that the advertisement CLEARLY states the size of the condo. So not reading/seeing that is MY FAULT. However, I do not understand why one of the pictures even shows the ENTIRE condo but is "greened" out. Why not just show the section that is being rented? Also, why are there two pictures of the same beds with different comforters? This gives the idea that there are two different rooms with two additional beds! Very misleading!! The beds are also very noisy! We actually found a condo in Panama City where the owners offered us a 3rd night for only $50 so we left a day early just to be comfortable. This is not ideal for two adults with a 5 year old and 1 year old. As far as the location goes, the building is in a great location but the room itself is at the VERY END of the hall. My wife and I dubbed the walk as "the brown mile." I would strongly recommend to advertise only what is being rented and have CURRENT pictures of the furniture/beds.

Ryan we are truly sorry for the misunderstanding; however, our website accurately displays current, up-to-date photos (only one set of comforters shown) and descriptions. This unit is available as a stand-alone studio OR can be rented with the lock-out unit next door. The photos also show the unusually long hallway and exactly where the unit is located. We wish the situation would have been better for you and your family. If you visit again, let us help you pick the perfect unit for your family; we have many to choose from. We do hope you were able to enjoy the Emerald Coast and all it has to offer while you were here.

Pilot House 328

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was only disappointed in the fact that we did not have towel service/maid service. We were told if we wanted the towels to be changed we would have to pay $15.00 per day - also was told normally rooms have access to a washer/dryer but that our room did not have that access. Room was far off in the corner and long way from elevator. No access to pool area from this room. Also other vacationers were loud and cursing at pool along with bottles of beer in the pool. No Hotel security on duty that we ever saw. We won't be back to this particular location.

We are so sorry you didn't have a great experience! Pilot House 328 is somewhat different than other condos, in the fact that it is a studio unit, not a full sized vacation rental unit. Unlike hotels, daily maid service is not the norm for a vacation rental. Nowadays hotels that 'go green' don't service towels/sheets every day. Our website clearly states the size of the unit and what is offered. Each floor of the Pilot House has washers and dryers for guest use. Pool access isn't right out of the door of the unit but just outside of the building. Unfortunately, Sandestin Resort does not have pool guards on duty but there is security on the premises 24/7. It would be our pleasure to help you find a different unit that would better suit your needs next time.

June 2017 Stay

Arrived late in the evening on 6/30/17 and departed early morning 7/4/17 I didn't realize that the unit we rented #328 Pilot House didn't come with towel service And when I called to ask was told each floor had a washer and dryer available (somehow I missed that in my paperwork) but then was told that I had a studio rental and the washer and dryer weren't available to use but I would be allowed to have maid service for a fee At first I was told it was $35.00 a day but then was told $15.00 a day - for clean towels Anyway maybe a misunderstanding on my part but truly disappointed in the lack of customer service - the unit was clean and the area around us was nice The pool was beautiful but not once did I see any staff members around monitoring anything which would have been nice so that the loud crowd playing there loud music filled with cursing could have been corrected or the fact that they had glass beer bottles in the pool could've been corrected or that they were using the center island part of the poo

Our website accurately represents the property so no guest should ever feel misled. Unfortunately Gibson Beach Rentals has no influence or authority on the pool or guests of Pilot House.
