Disappointing Experience – Deceptive Listing and Poor Owner Communication
We’ve stayed at The Whaler many times and absolutely love the property, but unfortunately, this unit was a huge disappointment. We felt misled and ignored throughout our stay.First and foremost, we were not informed of the massive construction project directly in front of the unit that obstructed the ocean view we were promised. This wasn’t a minor oversight—the construction was significant enough to have been covered in national news, yet the owners claimed they were unaware. It felt dishonest, especially given the scale and publicity of the work.Adding to the disruption, there was constant loud construction noise from the unit directly above us. It made it nearly impossible for our toddler to nap and was incredibly frustrating to deal with throughout the day.We reached out to the owners multiple times with our concerns, hoping for understanding or some form of compensation. Instead, we were met with dismissive responses and told there was “nothing they could do.” At no point did they offer any kind of solution or accountability.To make matters worse, we paid for a midweek cleaning we told would be a complete clean and only the towels were changed and the beds were made—no cleaning was done on the floors or countertops, which is unacceptable at this price point.This experience was incredibly disappointing. While we will definitely return to The Whaler, we strongly advise staying in a different unit—preferably one managed by owners who are honest and responsive.
