This property in Charlevoix is not only convenient to downtown, mushroom houses, at least 3 beaches, and a marina, but it is also lovely and easily the best appointed VRBO we’ve rented. The owners have thought of everything. We would absolutely stay at this property again.

Outstanding

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Exceeded my expectations. We love to cook and there was plenty of space for all of us to cook together (9 of us) in this chef’s kitchen. We spent evenings around the bonfire making s’mores and listening to peaceful music or playing games. Beds were as comfortable as 5 star hotels that we’ve been to. Had the best family reunion ever! I hope to stay here again next summer.

A wonderful place!

My family and I really enjoyed this home. Our stay was 4 nights and each day was excellent. The short walk to downtown was a huge plus and we enjoyed all that Charlevoix had to offer. We will be back very soon!

The best vacation rental by far!

We had an incredible time at The Anchorage! Pictures truly don’t do it justice, the property is beautiful and has everything you could ever ask for and more. The host was incredible and the location was outstanding! We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay near downtown Charlevoix. We can’t wait to book our next trip back!

Awesome Home, Perfect Location

We had such a great stay at the Anchorage! The location was the best part of it for us and we loved walking to everything all week. All of the spaces in the home were awesome - lounging, sleeping, relaxing, showers were awesome, and the kitchen was really set up well for cooking - I’ve never seen a rental so well supplied, for every possible need we could have, and the espresso maker was a real treat. Tony was very responsive and I can’t find a bad thing to say- highly recommend!

The Perfect House

We absolutely loved our stay in Charlevoix! The home was perfect for our family of six, complete with a fully (and I mean fully!) stocked kitchen, three lovely bedrooms and multiple nicely renovated bathrooms. Everything was impeccably clean. The landscaping outside and the sweet decor inside made it really feel like home. Tony is a wonderful host and even left a thoughtful welcome gift. Walk to town, minutes from beaches, it’s the perfect place to stay!

Another Amazing Charlevoix Vacay!

It isn't summer until we arrive in Charlevoix. For the past 3 years, our little summer home has been Tony's magnificently charming abode on Antrim. As soon as walk in the door, it feels like we are truly home. No detail has been spared, no creature comfort forgotten. If I had to offer even a minor quibble, it would perhaps be that the master bedroom mattress is rather lumpy and soft, but that is about all I can come up with! It is, quite simply, a fantastic rental property!

Fantastic Location and Property

The house itself was exactly as advertised in the pictures...it was super comfortable with a fabulous location (practically perfect). Just a short walk to a grocery store (Oleson's) which was super convenient, as well as downtown Charlevoix. In the opposite direction, just a few blocks away was Lake Michigan. The house itself was very clean and extremely well-stocked with all the essentials, plus some. When a problem arose, Tony was easy to contact, prompt in communicating and getting the problem taken care of. We would definitely rent this house again!

Beautiful House

The house was beautifully decorated and super clean beyond what I can even describe, it felt like we were staying in a setting out of a magazine. The kitchen had everything you could ever need to prep meals and even had some basic food stocked in the pantry. Tony provided some toiletries just like a high-end hotel and even slippers for everyone. The backyard and deck with a huge firepit was surrounded by amazing landscaping and flowers and had a great private fence around the whole yard. The location was perfect for walking 1 block to downtown, 2 blocks to the beach and there was a handy food market right at the corner of the street. We walked everywhere easily! Tony was amazing host and we are already talking about going back to the house! Can not recommend enough!!

A Home Away From Home

For the past 20 years, my family and I have stayed at a hotel in Bay Harbor. Our tradition was sadly cut this year when the rates of the hotel had doubled. I quickly scrambled around online and found this property, which was located very close to downtown Charlevoix. I was slightly apprehensive about breaking tradition, but did not want to disappoint my children by saying that we were not going to Northern Michigan. I will never stay in the hotel property again, as this beautiful Charlevoix home prove to be one of the most incredible property rentals I have stayed at anywhere in the world. The owner, Tony, met us at the door and greeted us with kindness. Inside his beautiful home, the level of detail was found in every nook and cranny. We never had to contact him for any reason, since the house was well equipped with everything that one needed to feel like they were inside of their own home. Our family commented on a daily basis how beautiful the house was and how much fun they were having. Charlevoix is going to be our new place from now on! It was quite possibly one of the best rentals that I have ever stayed in.

Very nice place for a relaxing vacation with the family.

Lots of good things here, so let me discuss the key points: 1. Terrific location. It's as easy to walk to the grocery store and restaurants as drive, and given the great weather there, we walked. Not only are you close to all the stuff, it's also a perfect place to rent if you want to rent a boat, as you can either rent a slip or just dock in the Shopper's Docks that are 1/10 of a mile from the unit. You can head out to the water, return to the docks and take a break, or just launch from there. It's really ideal. The beach on Lake Michigan is also walkable, and although we spent more time at another beach, it's really useful for an easy stroll in the evening. 2. The unit itself is decorated very nicely (very warm feel) and has been well maintained. It's very clean, and the only real update it could use is a new laundry unit, as the existing one has a bit of wear. An external vent in the kitchen would also be good, but that's a nit, as the kitchen was extremely nice overall (and there is a sliding screen door adjoining the kitchen, so you can air the kitchen out when cooking as needed). Plenty of table space for meals, a very comfortable living room for just hanging out, and the bedrooms are more than enough to comfortably sleep 4 adults and 2 kids. You can throw 2 more kids into the mix if needed (2 bunk beds in the kids room), although I think the bathroom space would become a bit more challenging then (1 bath serves 2 bedrooms upstairs along with the master which comes with its own bathroom). It's really good for 6 but could handle 8 if you're patient. The beds were comfortable as well. 3. The fire pit in the back is terrific. Only minor nit there is it'd be nice to have a bit more privacy from the two adjoining houses, but the owners have smartly planted some shrubs that will aid that effort in due course. 4. I think this would also be an excellent property for a ski weekend over at Boyne Highlands, although I didn't really scope out where one would store skis inside (the unit is roomy so I don't think it'd be an issue). We like to be able to cook at night after skiing and hang out with friends and family, and this seems like a great property for a relaxing evening. Bottom line: if you're looking for a nice house where you can cook meals, hang out, and also enjoy all that Charlevoix has to offer, including all the water activities, this is a great choice. We would definitely consider going back.

Charlevoix Home 2022

Tony was great ! Communicated with us prior to coming out to the home and the day of was on standby if there was any questions or anything that had to be answered which we really appreciated. The home location was nestled perfectly one block from downtown Charlevoix. Really cute up north home with a feeling of that special Americana tradition. Very clean and organized and had a feeling of homeliness to us. Wonderful stay!

Location location

This property was in the perfect location to walk to downtown, the grocery store, playgrounds and restaurants. While we enjoyed eating out and didn’t cook while we were there we did notice the kitchen was well equipped with anything you may need.

Best Week of the Year!

Staying at the Anchorage is always the highlight of our annual visit to Charlevoix! Tony's house is absolutely lovely and perfectly located. We've stayed here for several years and always look forward to a return visit!
