This is only my second time staying in a lodge. The first time was a brand new lodge and my family was the first to stay. It didn’t have a hoover or a mop which was a nightmare when there is a toddler in the family. So when we went to Skye View we packed everything, like we were moving house.
Skye View was lovely. It had everything, including a hoover and a mop. It was a really cosy, spacious lodge with a huge decking area and private hot tub. Usually we wouldn’t do much cooking while we are away, but it was Christmas and we couldn’t get booked into the restaurant onsite for Christmas lunch. We had already packed pans, steamer, serving dishes etc. The lodge equipment crockery and utensils are more than adequate for cooking basic meals, but we would have been stuck if we hadn’t taken our own to enable us to cook a Christmas feast. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine, microwave, wall oven and conductor hob. It also has really creaky floors throughout which wasn’t a problem until trying to creep around on a morning while everyone else was still in bed.
The lodge is in a good location, it was a two minute walk from the bar/restaurant but in a really quiet area. The decking faces trees rather than another lodge which is great for privacy.
It also has wifi which was a bonus.
The food in the Crazy Horse Saloon was really nice and the staff were really friendly.
We originally booked via a travel agent then nearer the time of the stay we were contacted by Hemera to finalise arrangements and sort pre departure arrangements. The team were brilliant.
We have had a lovely time for our first Christmas break away and have booked to go back to Skye View in the summer, we have booked direct with Hemera this time. I price checked with other companies like Hoseasons who were over £200 more for the same period I have book.
