Valsolda is beautiful and so was Villa Bianca. We had wonderful views of the lake from every room. Every facility you needed was there, from coffee makers, microwave, cooker, freezer, BBQ, outside places to eat and relax to a washing machine with powder provided. It was all very clean and convenient. Anna - the owner lives above the rented property and was always available if you had any issues but was never intrusive. We could walk down to the Lake to swim ( 170 steps each way - but you got used to it) and the lake was very clean. Valsolda is small and sort of off the tourist route - which we liked - but you would need to drive to eat out and just a warning some of the roads are very narrow and the locals like to drive in the middle of the road. There is not much in Porlezza tourist wise but 3 supermarkets and a marvellous place near the campsite where you can have a 2 course meal, 1/2 litre of water, 1/2 litre of wine for 10 euros each. Only from 12.00 - 2.00 and get there early as they sometimes can't fit everyone in. The villa is literally a kilometre from the Swiss border and you can be in Lugano within half an hour. If you want peace, wonderful views, a lot of garden to call your own and access to a clean quiet lake to swim in this is the place for you.
