Croft head Shepherd's hut on traditional Lakeland farm

Welcome to Barkbeth Farm Shepherd's Huts. We are set on a working farm located in Bassenthwaite in the heart of the Lake District. We offer a relaxing glamping experience with stunning views right at your feet.
Set in it's own peaceful compound away from the sounds and smells of the farm is Croft Head
Open plan living/dining/double bed with plenty storage underneath with bespoke moodlit headboard carved to form the 3 mountains within walking distance from Croft Head, Ullock pike, Skiddaw and Bakestall.
Our hut has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, double electric hob, full size undercounter fridge with an ice box, even an airfryer!
Outdoor fire pit and picnic bench for you to make the most of the amazing views. Bbqs welcome but are not provided.
We are dog friendly but can only accommodate 1 and kindly ask guests to keep them off the bed.

Fabulous place

Had a great stay at the hut, everything you could possibly need, very clean, cosy, fabulous views and piece & quiet. Host came to say hello, lovely & friendly .. will definitely be back Would definitely recommend.

Gorgeous location!

We had a great stay in Croft Head, the views are amazing, and it was lovely to see the lambs every morning! The hut had everything we needed for our short stay and we probably would have used the fire pit on an evening if the weather had been kinder.

Wonderful stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the Shepherds hut. A fantastic location, so peaceful and beautiful. Watching the sun set over the water each evening was fantastic. The shepherds hut was really clean and had everything we needed and the bed was very comfy. We would love to come back again!

Perfect little getaways with fabulous views

We were lucky to spend the bank holiday weekend in this little gem of a find - amazing views down to bassenwaithe, so quiet and peaceful - and the hut was so lovely. Would absolutely recommend and will be back!

A beautiful and unique stay in a first class shepherd's hut

This shepherd's hut is a delightful place to stay. Every detail was perfect and everything that you could possibly need was available inside the hut. The view to the lake was delightful with a bench outside to sit on and relax. Good facilities, hot water, heaters if you need them, and a very comfortable bed. Really enjoyed my stay, thank you!

We had an amazing stay! Everything was perfect.. beautiful area and the Shepard's hut had everything we needed, sadly there was another shepherds hut next to us and we was under the impression we would be totally alone BUT overall gorgeous place to stay!

Lovely stay in small but perfectly formed hut

We really enjoyed this property. For a cozy space it’s very well equipped and is so well designed it felt spacious. It was so peaceful we loved waking up next to the sheep and enjoying morning coffee outside with views of the lake. Our host was very helpful with showing us a short cut through his property to start a walk. Check in and out very easy. Would stay again.

Short stay

We were looking for a quiet and relaxing couple of days and the Shepherds hut gave us just that. It was small and very cozy. It was warm on arrival which was very welcoming. If i were to give some feedback i would say that a couple of side lamps would be helpful. Overall an excellent stay.
