Wow! Amazing! Totally unforgettable. You'll enjoy exploring the wonder of Asheville & environs in this perfect place!
Everything about it is sparkling new! Including the beautiful house embracing this studio, furnishings, its own washer & drier, subway tiled bathroom, cute, industrial themed fixtures, parking space. Anita filled a vase with garden herbs found just outside the door for my arrival!
The studio sits amid historic Montford’s historic buildings & architectural designs. It’s a quiet area where neighbors walk their family dog, play with their kids, & you feel safe & cared for. Quiet, too, at night for sleeping. Walk a couple blocks to the Visitor Center & get a walking map of historic Montford that includes a Thomas Wolfe Look Homeward Angel his father carved. A couple blocks the other direction is his museum, family home, & Asheville Urban Trail.
Eat in. Explore North Asheville's Tailgate Market only 1 1/2 mile north of the studio on the WNC campus with fresh veggies, artisan baked breads, free range meats, & more. Bring it home to cook on the full-size stove with the pots, pans, & utensils. Full size fridge to keep everything fresh. Microwave. Toaster oven. Even more markets abound nearby.
Eat out. Amazing local culinary delights that are recognized nationally abound! Anita walked with me over the bridge one block from the studio, & there's the Asheville Convention Center where something's always coming to town. Malaprops Book Store 2 buildings down where there's always coffee & a famous author to hear. There are well known tourist cafes, Early Girl, Tupelo Cafe, & others. Anita went above & beyond walking me to hidden gems only the locals know about. Along the way, she pointed out art deco architecture Asheville is known for. Do not miss the gargoyles! If breweries are your thing, you'll be in heaven! (And able to walk a few blocks home afterwards:) Local music! Bakeries are my thing with scintillating aromas of fresh breads & cookies! All walking distance, or a short drive away. Walk a couple blocks to tilted Lexington Ave with amazing local fashion artisans at Royal Peasantry & Vintage Moon Modern. Drive the Blue Ridge Trail to waterfalls where movies are filmed. Hike whatever length trail works for you. Find beautiful artisan works of singing bowls, unusual baskets, paintings. Sit on the balcony of the Grove Park Inn overlooking the mountains & then visit its Gallery!
All you do is smile & dream of returning again & again!
