この施設について

Gorgeously restored tranquil farmhouse

Just a few minutes drive from Lake Trasimeno. Enjoy all the space of a private country house at a fraction of the cost of a pooled villa.
For family, for friends, for artists!

Close to the border, explore both Tuscany and Umbria from this private retreat.

Florence is easily reachable from the local train station, Cortona and Montepulciano are each 30 minutes away.

Accommodation is on the first floor, until recently downstairs was just for animals, though occasionally you will find us there.

Alas not appropriate for the infirm and those requiring wheelchair access.

Originally two houses, these were knocked into one when we bought it back in 1982.

Every room in the house is a different shape, but they all have wooden beamed ceilings, and a view of the countryside.

The kitchen is brand new, with a new sink, hob and oven. It has lots of working space, the whole family can prepare in there at the same time!

The living room is all funny angles and very individual. It has two brand new sofas, and a large wood burning stove.

Like most very old Mediterranean farmhouses it will get dusty, but that's part of it's charm.

There is a large patio area at the rear of the house overlooking the garden, please make full use of it.

The front balcony is a great place for everything from breakfast to after dinner drinks.

Jeremy is a friendly host and his farmhouse lives up to the tranquil billing! Close to the lake, Cortona and Citta della Pieve. Comfortable beds, bathrooms are fine and the kitchen is great for cooking and a nice meal

The day before we were to check in the owner messaged me and said for our group of six people one of the only two bathrooms was not in service. And then the bathroom that was in service was very tiny shower that filled with water when one person took a shower. We also had to purchase our own toilet paper and Kleenex. Just an FYI, if you’re interested in renting this place make sure you are familiar with living in the country and the smells that go along with it.

I would like to apologise again for your not being able to use both bathrooms, a very considerable nuisance. The toilet needed replacing after the previous guests, and we only learnt the bathroom couldn’t be used the day before your arrival. While I did write to you immediately when alternate accommodation could have been found, I fear the significance of the situation only became clear on your arrival. I had hoped that by paying you financial compensation at the time for the inconvenience you would accept my apologies. But I do understand that this spoiled your experience, for which I am truly sorry.

A beautifully renovated property in a small hamlet on the outskirts of Castiglione del Lago. The accommodation is on the first floor of the building and there's a small terrace and two chairs to sit under cover, and access to the garden at the rear. There was a covered parking area adjacent to the property. There were four generous sized bedrooms all with air conditioning and two bathrooms located off a small study area. The kitchen was modern with a good range of crockery/cutlery and sufficient large pans for big family groups. The fridge/freezer was efficient and it was helpful to have a washing machine. There was air con in the kitchen and the attached lounge area, which had plenty of seating for our group of 5 adults.Castiglione is a lovely little town and the museum and castle walls are worth visiting for some great views. They were also doing the outdoor cinema in the castle walls during our visit which was a great experience despite the pesky mosquitos! It was easy to use Castiglione as a base and we took day trips out to visit Assisi and Montepulciano. In Castiglione we found the most fabulous gelateria (BeBop), and also had a lovely meal overlooking the lake at La Pigra Tinca and had amazing seafood linguine at restaurant Via Roma which we'd thoroughly recommend (and wish we'd discovered earlier in the week). Jeremy was responsive and gave helpful recommendations. The only thing we missed because of the heat, was a swimming pool! Excellent property.

Host was quick to respond to questions and concerns and offered great advice about the location. He understood our concerns and the house, though a bit tiny for our families of 8, was well appointed and had everything we needed...especially being big cooks.Only challenges were that it took two nights before the house truly warmed up with the heaters and the wonderful fire (it was very cold out...and can't blame the host for that!) And, being big cooks, when we would use oven as well as the stovetop at the same time for a meal, and with other electricity on in the house the breakers/fuse box would shut off. It made two nights of our stay a bit difficult to time our big "at home" dinners. Overall, very cozy, comfortable and it was a great location for us as it was only 10 min. from our new home in Castiglione Del Lago! Thank you!
This fire saved us on cold winter nights!
Family dinner of 8 in the kitchen!

Our family has owned this house for over 40 years, renovating what was a near ruin into the comfortable property you see today.

この宿泊施設の特徴

There are some much grander houses, but few could be as charming as Casa Castagni.
We simply don't know how old it is, it could be 200, 300, 400+ years old!
