We loved the cottage! It was perfect in so many ways. Rustic yet charming. Beds were extremely comfortable. Could spend all day watching the lake from the front porch or the dock. Great having the kayaks, which we used a few times to paddle to Caywood Point, which was a nice place for a swim. Saw eagles, loons and owls.
My critiques are minimal, but here they are:
1.) The Steps: The steps leading down to Lolly's could use some work. I recognize that they are rough steps to begin with, but they are uneven and slippery when wet. They could use some basic maintenance and upkeep or I'm afraid a visitor may get hurt.
2.) Cottage could use a toaster oven. I know there is no oven, and that is fine, but a toaster oven would have made certain cooking situations much easier.
3.) Screens: Most of the windows did not have screens, though some had small screen inserts. I would recommend you provide at least screen inserts for ALL windows to take advantage of any cross breeze you get on hot days. The ceiling fans were awesome and we used them constantly, but a cross breeze from the windows would have helped that much more.
4.) The Dock: It would be good to have a ladder at the end of the dock. If you wanted to attempt a swim, you would have to go through lots of weeds to get back on the shore. The dock area overall was very weedy. Obviously, not anyone's fault, but I wonder if these can be trimmed in some way for better swimming? I see that you do not mention swimming as one of the amenities and I assume this is why. You may wish to emphasize the swimming location at Caywood Point as noted above -- again, a short paddle or two minute drive.
5.) Construction: as noted in the listing, there was construction going on to the south of Lolly's (maybe 200 feet from the cottage). We could hear the sound of heavy equipment on and off during the day. Though it was not particularly loud, would be great if I didn't have to hear it at all. Again, there may be nothing you can do about it, but I am noting it. This is why I gave location and "neighborhood" four instead of five stars.
But overall, we couldn't get enough of the view, the cottage was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
