My family overall enjoyed our stay at Lolly's cottage. We picked this place because it is right on the water and very private --so it was great during the pandemic. We loved the kayaks and the dock and the fact that the house had enough beds and bedrooms for everyone. It was also very nicely decorated. When we all walked in we thought it was super cute!! However, there were a bunch of things which put a damper on the trip, some of which were very easy to fix.
One, the cottage only came with just the BASICS. When we first walked in there was no paper towel. I had to search for it under a cabinet, and most likely it was already used. Two, the cottage has only lake water. No where did it state that we should bring our own bottled water. This was definitely an inconvenience because we brought a lot of food to make meals and had to run to store to buy extra filtered water.
Three, the kitchen literally had just the basics, did not even come with a sponge or dishtowels to dry the dishes!! I had to wash all my dishes with my hands the soap they provided and use the washcloths for bathing to dry them!! They did provide some sort of cleaning tool for cups but it was falling apart so I chose not to use it.
Another problem with the kitchen was the dishware. They had some old speckled metal dishware that was not microwavable. This was another inconvenience because I needed to reheat my coffee by pouring it into a glass bowl and then re-pouring it back into my metal mug.
Furthermore, there were about 20 MILLIPEDES in the house. And they were quite large. We constantly had to kill them.
And lastly, we had to park the car and walk down quite a bit of stairs when we arrived which was not so easy with all of our luggage. It was doable, but not convenient.
All in all we really enjoyed our family time and swimming in the water and using the kayaks. However, I cannot recommend this place. I feel that the owners or managers of Lolly's cottage need to take a bit more time to make this cottage user friendly. Adding dishtowels, fresh paper towels, and fixing up the place a bit so that bugs aren't crawling in constantly would help improve Lolly's cottage. It sure does have great potential.
