Wonderful mansion with swimming pool in charming hamlet
With beautiful terraces and situated in a quiet area, Palazzo Decò is just a stone’s throw from local restaurants and shops, in a strategic location for easily exploring the Salento region. It is a magnificent stately home located in the small, charming village of Muro Leccese. It’s the ideal place for those seeking a peaceful setting and wishing to discover authentic Salento life, while still being less than a 20-minute drive from the sea.
This splendid mansion, dating back to the early 20th century, has undergone a meticulous restoration that successfully combines the authenticity of historic Apulian homes with a typically contemporary approach to renovation and décor, ensuring all modern comforts while preserving its original charm and character. The decor is clean-lined, warm, and elegant, with bright and spacious rooms featuring the typical star-vaulted ceilings, all equipped with air conditioning. At the top of the building, accessible via an internal masonry staircase, is a delightful, fully equipped terrace with a pergola—perfect for enjoying outdoor aperitifs and a splendid view of the surrounding village. In addition, there is a pleasant outdoor courtyard area on the first floor, and on the upper floor, a beautiful terrace with a pool, perfect for cooling off at any time during hot summer days.
Palazzo Decò spans three levels and offers a total of four bedrooms and four bathrooms with showers (plus a guest restroom). From the entrance portal, you enter a spacious foyer where, on the left, there is access to a large master bedroom with a shower room; and on the right is another, more modestly sized bedroom, featuring a unique shower room housed within a circular, domed space that was originally an old bread oven. Both of these bedrooms have windows overlooking the narrow street in front of the building. Continuing straight from the entrance, you first come to, on the left, a storage closet under the stairs used as a laundry room (with a washer and dryer), while on the right is a guest restroom. Further ahead, you enter a very bright living area, featuring large windows overlooking the inner courtyard. This beautiful part of the house is divided into two spaces: a pleasant living room with a fireplace and built-in bookshelves, and on the other side, a large, modern, fully equipped kitchen with a dining table that seats eight. From both of these rooms, you can step out into the charming inner courtyard, enclosed by dry-stone walls and furnished with outdoor tables and chairs. From the living room, a staircase leads to the first floor, where there are two more bedrooms: a master bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with balconies and en-suite bathrooms with showers. From a hallway, you then access a beautiful terrace, furnished with garden furniture, a pool, and an outdoor shower, overlooking the courtyard below. Finally, continuing up the stairs leads to the top floor (2nd floor), where there is another comfortable terrace, equipped with built-in sofas, a pergola, a kitchenette, and a dining table seating 6–8 people—where you can dine in the evening breeze with a view of the beautiful historic center of Muro Leccese.
Very comfortable and with an appealing design, Palazzo Decò is a splendid residence that combines history and modern design. The high-quality furnishings, meticulous attention to detail, and original architectural features—enhanced by refined taste—make it a unique place to relax during your stay in Puglia.
