Excellent

This was our third stay at Spey Cottage and it was just as good as always. Great location, handy for town and right by the river.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Spey Cottage..."Great location" we couldn't really put it any better ourselves...a pub on the doorstep, 10 minute walk to the centre of the village and a garden leading down to the River Spey. We look forward to welcoming you back for your 4th visit - soon!

A great base to visit family

This is our second time staying here and we have always enjoyed our stay. It’s comfortable, clean and the location is perfect. Within easy walking distance of shops and train station. The garden and decking is lovely, especially when you get the lovely weather to enjoy it! It would be good if there was a gate or something at the bottom of the garden to make it enclosed for dogs.

Lovely stay near the river Spey

We had a lovely family holiday in this spacious house. The location was perfect, on a quiet road but well within walking distance of the shops and with a great pub just along the road. The back garden (not enclosed, this is shared in the description) leads directly to the river where you can enjoy quiet walks and lovely views. We would definitely book again!

We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Spey Cottage – thank you for taking the time to leave us a 5* star review. The location really is hard to beat. With the Old Bridge Inn right on your doorstep, serving great food and regularly hosting live music, and Aviemore town centre less than a 10-minute walk away, it’s the perfect base for exploring the area.

Excellent for our family of 7

Spacious enough for all seven of us and great location for exploring Aviemore and the surroundings. However a few food essentials for the kitchen would have been welcome plus one of the double beds was uncomfortable

Great location, kitchen was well equipped

Great location, kitchen was well equipped. Would be nice if there was a few store cupboard basics like sugar and a bit of tea and coffee would have been nice.

Comfortable and convenient location

Five minutes' walk from Aviemore Station and with the river Spey immediately beyond the back garden, Spey Cottage proved perfect for our stay. Good social spaces for seven people to gather, comfortable bedrooms and the garden for when people wanted to be on their own. Very well-appointed kitchen, nice bathrooms with plenty of hot water, bedlinen and towels were excellent quality. Lovely east-facing decked area at the back. Apart from the occasional train pulling into the station, very quiet. Would definitely book again.

Spey Cottage

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Great position in the town. Very quiet even with the train station across the road. Lovely patio area we sat out most days.

Brilliantly located property for access to all facilities, including local walks.

This is a lovely traditional cottage with ample living space and bedrooms for a family celebration. Very comfortable beds and the kitchen and bathrooms are modern and suitable for our needs. Bit disappointed that considering the cost there was no tea bags/coffee/pint of milk or a single dishwasher tablet or salt/pepper for example, these little things make a big difference on arrival. We have stayed in many self catering homes throughout Scotland and this is not the norm- remember to come fully equipped! Saying that I would recommend a stay, the outdoor deck was a great addition and we all enjoyed the walks along the river direct from the garden.

Perfect location for a family stay with everything on your doorstep

We had a wonderful stay as an extended family of 7 staying at spey cottage. The house had everything we needed, it was cosy and the stove and wood was a real treat to warm up after an autumn day. The cottage was a perfect size, and location was perfect. We loved being able to walk to many amenities and was very quiet despite being beside a railway line. The only downside for us was that there were aspects of housekeeping that were overlooked. There was a broken glass bowl in a drawer in the kitchen. All the broken parts had been placed in a different bowl but I suspect all drawers were not checked between guests to ensure safe removal of glass. The dishwasher also had an error code from day 2 and despite contacting maintenance via the number on the app, we did not get a response. These are minor details though that are easily fixed and would in no way stop us from booking again

Lovely stay in homely cottage

Six adults and one baby from a family group had a great stay at Spey Cottage last week. Lovely location close to river, food shops and station. Well-equipped kitchen and great terrace area. Only thing to note is that there are no basics provided beyond hand soap and salt & pepper and also no board games (which we'd have enjoyed) but we were aware of this beforehand. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Thank you for your lovely review. We're delighted to hear you and your family enjoyed your stay at Spey Cottage and made the most of its fantastic location. We appreciate your comments regarding the welcome provisions and board games. As all of our properties are individually owned, the items provided can vary from one property to another depending on the owner's preferences. If guests would like to know exactly what is provided before they arrive, we're always happy to confirm this in advance to help with planning for their stay. It's wonderful to hear that you would recommend the cottage and that you would consider staying again. We agree that it's a great location, and we very much hope to welcome you and your family back in the future.
