Has several facilities for an active family

It is a beautiful villa with an amazing view of the surrounding area. The main reason we choose it was the large range of games you can play. There is a billiards table, table tennis, swimming pool and tennis court. The only negative was the lack of fans/ ac as it was a heatwave when we went.

Loved our stay

Amazing setting and views over the village. Kids loved the swimming, golf, piano, pool and tennis, especially when lit up at night.

A perfect house for a relaxing holiday.

The house with it's excellent facilities and beautiful garden is lovely: we all enjoyed the time we spent there. We hadn't hired a car as we stayed in Porto at the beginning and end of our holiday and had a wedding in-between. However, a car for a couple of days would have been useful as the local shop, whilst good, did not have all that we required food wise. The restaurant and coffee shop are worth a visit Mario is an excellent host and responded promptly when we contacted him.

Great location for Porto to town centre 15min away and the airport 30 min away. The Villa was in a very quite location and plenty room. Lovely pool and tennis court.

Great family holiday

It is a big spacious home with a great pool and lots of outside space. It was ideal for our family of 4 adults and 2 young children. It is in a small, quiet village with just a few small shops. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday

Annual 1 week summer holiday

This was our second visit to this property. It perfectly met our needs for a low-key place to chill out with our daughter and 2 grandchildren ( 7 & 8 ). It is a very quiet location. The house and grounds are very spacious. The kids enjoyed playing in the orchard and on the tennis court. The real highlight is the large outdoor pool - which the kids really enjoyed. We will probably book for next year.

Relaxing base for Porto

Great base for a nice holiday in the Porto region. The village was small but had a lovely tapas bar and a great bakery. It was only around 10€ for an Uber to Porto. The villa had plenty to keep everyone occupied but could have done with a few more chairs or sunbeds by the pool. It did need a little bit of maintaining and updating in places but nothing that spoilt our stay. It was spacious enough that even though there were 2 families staying there everyone had their own space and it never felt cramped.

Would highly recommend

Lovely villa with fantastic activities within the grounds. Having a tennis court and pool all to ourselves was simply amazing. There aren’t many shops, restaurants or bars in the neighbourhood, but a supermarket is a ten minute drive away and the city is less than half an hour’s journey. Uber is freely available and Mario, our host, was also very helpful in arranging taxis to and from the airport. Ideal for a peaceful family holiday.

A gem of a place....

This really is a beautiiful villa.....so spacious, lots to do and very well equipped. We enjoyed the tennis court, pool, billiards and gorgeous setting. Comfortable beds! Mario was great as a host, could not have asked for more - very responsive, flexible, caring and just at the end of what'sapp on the couple of times needed. We hired a car to give us some extra flexibility which worked for us but it is really easy and cheap to pick up ubers locally and from Porto back to the villa. As said in previous reviews, supermarkets are just a short drive/taxi away. Local shops weren't always open so we just relied on the Lidl. It's not a buzzing local village but the people were always really friendly. Eating out can be so cheap so we tended to have a brunch and then head off for the day but also had a couple of lovely days just appreciating the villa and then heading out for dinner. Air-con is just in the loft room but this was absolutely fine - we never felt too hot in the house. It is a bit dark in the house but most of the time we were outdoors anyway so it didn't bother us. Plenty of outdoor dining space, balconies and green space to chill. Honestly, can't recommend it highly enough, we feel very honoured to have stayed in such a valued family home and hope that we will be able to go back one day. Thank you Mario!

Une maison très agréable à vivre

Bien équipée et bien placée à 20 minutes du centre de Porto ! Équipements ménagers très corrects, équipements de loisirs vraiment top ! Tennis, piscine, golf, billard, ping-pong… Et un magnifique jardin paysager très bien entretenu. Accueil très sympathique.

Delightful villa

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the villa. The pool and tennis court were a lot of fun, the garden is delightful, the balconies provide lovely seating areas throughout the day and the villa inside offers everything one needs for a comfortable stay. There is wifi and a smart tv with popular streaming apps. Transport: we did not hire a car and relied on taxis instead. Taxi to and from the airport is €40. Ubers to and from Porto cost us between €15-20 each way. It's easy to get an Uber from Porto to the villa even at night (helps to save the exact villa location on your Uber app). From the villa it could take up to 30-40 minutes to get an Uber but the local taxi company was always available within 10 minutes. Groceries: the town has a few small grocery stores that are generally open in the mornings until mid-day and easily reached by foot. Fresh bread, drinks and basic fruit and veg are easily available. We could not find any fresh meat in the town (the small grocery shops had some frozen items) so as for bigger shops, a Lidl and Intermarche are a 10 minute drive away. We also ended up doing smaller grocery shops in Porto for items not locally available before heading back to the villa. The people in the town were all very friendly. The closest restaurant is Tasca da Tita a few hundred meters down the road serving nicely prepared local dishes and very decently priced. Padaria S. Roque is a bakery a 10 minute walk away and also prepares great pizza if one orders in advance. To note, we went in the second half of August and there was a 4 day festival in the town that played music throughout the day and late into the night that could be heard at the villa. It did not bother us but if someone is looking for a really quiet stay it's worth checking if there is going to be a local festival on. We were in touch with Mario via Whatsapp so the small issues and queries we had were quickly addressed.

Beautiful setting and excellent facilities

A large property in a beautiful setting. Facilities are fabulous and include swimming pool, tennis court, pool, ping pong, golf nets so plenty to keep occupied. The garden is large, well maintained and very pretty. It is a 15 minute drive from Porto where there is so much to see and do. There is the metro, buses and trams for getting around Porto although we mainly walked. My partner and son also enjoyed a tour of the Estadio do Dragio football stadium and museum one afternoon. In Gens there are a couple of small supermarkets where you can get the basics (limited veg but Lidl is ten minutes drive away). We found the locals very friendly. There is a cake shop called Padaria S Roque which serves coffees and pastries, a Gens Sport Club bar and Tasca Di Tita, a restaurant just minutes away where the food was delicious and the staff extremely helpful. Being August, this did shut for holidays during our stay otherwise we would have gone there a lot more. Also August being the month the locals take their holiday, with many leaving their dogs alone to guard their properties, barking at night was common - however, a good set of earplugs should be enough to combat this. There was a festival on in Gens during our stay so there was street lighting and fado singing which was lovely to see. A car would be beneficial. However, we decided against hiring a car as the prices were extortionate this year. Mario was helpful in arranging a taxi to collect us from the airport and we then continued to use taxis and/or ubers when we needed to go anywhere. This actually worked out fine for us and saved us a good deal. We had a really lovely holiday and would definitely go back.

Maison et hôte exceptionnels.

La maison est très spatieuse et extrêmement confortable, l acceuil a été au delà de nos attentes. Le village est très calme et nous y avons trouvé des petits commerces pour faire des courses d appoint. Les accès autoroutiers sont très proches. Cette maison nous a permis de passer d excellentes vacances.

Amazing!

We had the most amazing holiday staying at the villa. Mario was a great host with good communication with us. He helped us with booking taxis and shared with us information. The pictures of the villa don’t do the property justice. It is such a beautiful place with lots of space, amazing garden and great big pool. The town is beautiful too with lovely people. All the locals are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be booking to stay here again! Thank you so much Mario!!

Such a perfect villa for friends and families

Mario’s place was absolutely amazing. The grounds were perfect for our kids (3,5,5) to run around in, safe in the Knowledge they couldn’t escape! So much space and a gorgeous setting. Mario couldn’t do enough for us, sorting us taxis from the airport etc. We chose not to hire cars and got ubers into Porto most days. They were easy and cheap. We would highly recommend for a peaceful villa with the option of going into Porto pretty easily.

Bien au calme et tout ce qu'il faut pour s'occuper

La maison est conforme à la description, il y a tout le nécessaire. On a beaucoup apprécié la piscine, le tennis et le golf. Le jardin est très agréable et plein d'arbres fruitiers. Mario est un hôte très sympathique.

Huis is erg gedateerd en heeft urgent onderhoud nodig

Huis is al lange tijd niet meer bewoond en dat merk je. Basement met biljart is muf en vochtig, verf bladdert overal af (alle kozijnen slecht), bedden zijn slecht, stoelen oud en versleten en zwembad niet schoon (ik vond er twee verroeste spijkers in!!). Mensen zijn aardig, maar huis is niet (meer) geschikt voor verhuur.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cette villa avec un très bon accueil de Mario et de son papa. La villa est tout simplement gigantesque avec tout le confort et de nombreux équipements. Nous sommes ici dans une résidence secondaire de famille qui est régulièrement occupée par les propriétaires et pas dans une maison uniquement destinée à la location, cela se ressent en terme de confort. Equipement de loisirs au top pour des enfants, ados et adultes ( tennis, billard, Ping pong...), une belle terrasse couverte, un stationnement privé pour 2 à 3 voitures. Grande piscine En terme de localisation, nous sommes à 10 min d'un supermarché Lidl, 15 min d'un Hypermarché et de Porto centre. Dans le village, il y a également tout le nécessaire ( pain, supérette, tabac....) Si nous avons l'occasion de revenir à Porto, ce sera dans cette villa. Merci encore à Mario et si nous revenons, nous ne manquerons pas de venir avec des bières, Mario en ayant une collection impressionnante. Amitiés du Nord de la France
