Communication from the owner really left something to be desired. Check-in was scheduled for 3 PM and the room was nowhere near being ready. We knew this because one of the doors were unlocked and we were able to walk in the room, which was unattended.
Two of us started attempting to reach the owner via text and phone calls. For at least 35 minutes there was absolutely no response. I would think if you own a place and the check in time is 3 o’clock on Saturday you would keep your phone near you and you would respond immediately.
The room was not ready until 5:30 PM, and this cause problems because we had dinner reservations to celebrate a birthday. Everyone in our party needed to shower and get ready and we ended up canceling the reservations because there was no way we could be at the restaurant by 6 PM. Also we had a grocery order scheduled for 4 o’clock and we couldn’t go pick up groceries that needed to be refrigerated and frozen because we had nowhere to put them.
After some discussion with Neal, we agreed that some money would be refunded due to the inconvenience this caused our group. I explained to him at that time that a little bit of communication with us about the problems, could have lessened the level of inconvenience and frustration.
We are coming up on one month since our check in on July 9, and we still have not received any refund check. I had to communicate with Neal, he did not reach out to me. After several back-and-forth texts, I found out the check was being sent from a bank and it took them 10 days to process it and some other details. I told Neal again that this all came down to communication. If he would’ve just told me that it might be 3 to 4 weeks until we received the check, again that would’ve eliminated a lot of the inconvenience and frustration. He asked me for my address the day after we checked in (July 10). How did we know he wasn’t going to just pull out his checkbook and write a check and the check would be waiting for us when we got home?
Everyone knows that things come up and sometimes things don’t always go as planned, and I realize that, but communication is key.
The room itself was nice. The pool is nice but it is shady from 2:30 on in the summer time. You can not use the fitness center. The info on VRBO says you can pay a fee and use it. Unless you rent thru the Hilton or are the owner, you can not access the fitness center.
