Staying in West Yosemite is a blast. Everything most people want to see is about 20-30 min away. But when you come home, you can sit on the deck, soak in the pines and the sunset and the fresh air without all the crowds and lines. Glacier Point road is just a few minutes away. At the end is Glacier Point which is a must see for Yosemite. But on the way is a number of great hikes such as Taft Point, Sentinel Dome, Mono Meadows, etc. All of them are great walks. The Taft Point trail in the summer is the best hike in the park - easy, trees, meadows, flowers, and then that view a the end - WOW! The house is older, yes, but well equipped. We didn't need to bring anything to the kitchen other than food and the spices/oils we would need. Other than that, everything is there and in great condition. The house is a little worn but we thought it was exceptionally clean. And the pool table was fabulous for our three teenage boys to unwind after each day of hiking. We stayed 7 nights and wished we could have stayed longer because the house is that comfortable. The WiFi is not fast, but our friends, staying at a house up the street, didn't have wiFi so we felt privileged (We needed to do a little work over vacation). The only complaint, 2 nof the three main beds were not great. But after hiking for 12 hours, nobody cared. If you are looking for temprapedic beds, you may want to go somewhere else. If you want everything else in a great vacation rental, this house is worth it.
