Beautiful

Beautiful area. House was beautiful. Way too noisy for a family with grandparents and toddlers. So so so many houses with large groups of younger louder people. Pat 3 course was a nice touch.

Wonderful

We loved the house. Loved the location on the lake. And really enjoyed playing the neighborhood par 3 golf course every day. Easy access to town, groceries and other activities. Would definitely stay here again.

While the property itself is beautiful right on the lake, the house needs a lot of work. One of the doors from the kitchen to the backyard would not lock. One of the door handles on the back door fell off. The hot tub required someone to come fix it before it worked. The pool and the temperature of the pool room are both set to 80 per the owner’s preference, which in turn makes the pool feel very cold. The hot water tank is not adequately sized for the house so if you try to take a bath in one of the luxurious jetted tubs, you won’t get more than 3 inches of water before the hot water runs out. This is even if nobody has taken a shower and the washer and dishwasher have not been running. There are also just basic updates that need to be made. Nearly every outlet on the first floor and some on the second floor would not hold a plug because they are all too loose. There are pieces of trim and the upstairs master that are falling off. The recliner in the upstairs master is broken. There are no blinds or shades or curtains on any of the exterior doors to the home. Three bedrooms doors to the exterior. Two of them facing each other. Imagine my surprise when I realized that you could see straight across from my bedroom into the bedroom across the balcony. I only write this because these are all things that I wish I knew before booking my family vacation. We ended up leaving a day early.

House and location were beautiful. The cookware needs to be updated, all pots and pans have excessive wear and tear. The non stick coating is all scratched off. The landscaping needs to be addressed. Too many weeds coming up through the patio pavers, unacceptable for the price of this rental. The last renters left hundreds of sun flower seed shells all over the patio. The patio should have been swept or hosed off before we arrived. The kitchen faucet needs to be replaced and doors to laundry room need to be repaired.

So much potential

The property is large and beautiful and the location is great but to many issues that took away from the overall stay. The indoor pool which was the main reason we booked this property was freezing cold. Maintenance from the property management came several times but could not fix the issue. Finally the evening before we checked out a pool company came and got it working but the water was not warm until the morning we checked out. The master bedroom shower would not drain so we were limited to five min. showers so the room would not flood. Upon arrival 2 bathroom toilets would not flush. Their are many bedrooms with glass doors that open to the outside but there are no shades or blinds so there is very little privacy. The dishes were dirty so we needed to clean them before we used them. Also frustrating were the tv's in the common areas had three remotes each that all did different functions so be prepared to take a while to figure those out. The biggest issue is a safety concern.The water goes from cold to scalding hot with just a gentle tap. If you have children be careful.

Disappointed in amenities

I want to start out with this is not the first larger, high end house that I have rented through VRBO which is also managed by a rental company. We were disappointed with several aspects of this house. While the location and the overall size of the house were amazing it was quite lacking as a house that is supposed to be in the rental companies "signature collection". Pool. Temp all over the place some days very warm others couldn’t stay in for more than 10-15 min. Thermostat is not accurate on pump, pump read 82.5 every day even though temp went up and down. 2-3 days out of 6 night stay usable. Kitchen. All nonstick/Teflon pots and pans unusable due to sever scratching/gouging except 3. 7 forks total in house not full set of wine glasses for table seating. Dining room chairs need replaced no support and uncomfortable. 3 bedrooms with outdoor access to patio or balcony no blinds on 10 ft glass doors. No privacy from outdoors or to block out morning sun. Little to no children's games or toys all were damaged or missing parts. No welcome package. Carpet torn or missing in dining room/tack strip visible. Carpet very worn and tired throughout house. I rated it a 3 as the space was nice and it is relatively child proof. The outdoors are where I think this house shines. A 1-2 star in my eyes is a house that you want to leave as soon as you walk in the door because it is extremely dirty or unsafe and this house was neither of those two things.

Great Pool and Rec room.

Highlight - Pool was awesome. Warm, clean, and perfect for my grandchildren. Swam everyday. Lowlight - Hot tub did not work, fireplace did not work, bed frame broken, and entry way covered with inches of ice. More of a place for bachelor party then a family vacation for the price.

The property had no wifi and no one had service in the property. I couldn’t access the online to check in and out. We couldn’t make calls and or send messages out.

Great for a family reunion and lots for kids to do

Hi there - we had a great time - the house is great for multi-generational get togethers. My only complaints are that the bedding was low budget and there was zero soap and limited toilet paper and paper towels, garbage bags etc. When you are charging this much for a rental - in my opinion, it should be fully stocked. The pool was great - the hot tub was great - the game room was great. You will have a great time.

Very spacious and great to accommodate a large number of guests. We appreciated all the separate spaces in the house so people were together, yet still had some privacy. We spent a ton of time on the beautiful patio and had a fire (house was fully stocked with wood!). The cove of the lake was not too busy. Neighborhood was quiet and perfect for us!

Almost perfect lake house

The view, property, and amenities are all outstanding. My only complaint is that the mattress in the master bedroom was pretty horrible, it folded inwards in the middle. Otherwise this is a great place to stay.

Hair covered grandchildren pajamas when they were playing on the floor in the mornings. And flew around the house. We vacuumed when we first got there. There were lots of flys in the house when we got there seems like it needs a nice wipe down of cabinets staircases and surfaces. The patio could use a nice power pressure wash to get rid of massive flys on patio stones. It was sorta our of control with the flys. We still love the house it has everything we have been looking for in a house. If owners ever sell we will buy.

Great location and enough space for all that went. Offered things to do both inside with the indoor pool and outside with the hot tub, fire pit and lake access. There were a few minor items that did not work perfectly, but as expected, with a rental property that has as many visitors as this property likely does in a year there were none that would keep us from returning to this property in the future. Travel to the food store, etc. was a bit further than expected but again all positives clearly outweigh this or anything else.

This house was ground zero for a fun filled wedding weekend and our guests could not have had more fun. The kitchen and living area made entertaining a breeze and we all had comfortable and luxurious accomodations for the night. There's a wine cooler! A second freezer. So many great perks! Reviewer Comments: My stay here was ok but the AC has leaked out on the carpet in the game room and when we arrived it was huge fan blowers in the room & the carpet has been pinned back on the corners. The Deep Creek Raleigh office did offer offer some type of consolation but this is the 2nd time experiencing issues at Castle by the Lake! It’s not cheap to stay there so my guests was disappointed. Pillows are too flat & needs to be replaced! Comforters needs to be replaced & house throw rug at entrance

Great stay at castle by the lske

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay was fabulous. House is gorgeous. Only issue we had was the master bathroom jacuzzi tub and toilet were not very clean. Toilet had brown stains in bowl and tub was dirty. The furniture could be a little more up dated. Other than that the house and our stay was great.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, the experience was great. Me and my family was please once we arrive at the house inside and out. As far as with some of the amenities a few items was not working properly toward the end and/or out of order but otherwise it was a great stay. I would suggest as far as check in time should be changed to an early time due to if travelers are coming for the first time they are able to arrive during daylight time verses traveling in the dark and trying to locate the property. Just a precaution for safety reasons as well.
