Carmo was there to greet us and give us a walk-through and background of her family history with the house. The remodeling kept some historical features, but all appliances in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry were state-of-art contemporary. The bed was comfortable, and the bedroom well appointed for relaxing as well as having a desk for business needs.
While there were plenty of linens, towels, and toilet paper, we were surprised that we had to go buy such basics as hand soap, kitchen and laundry detergent, and basic cooking items like spices, salt and pepper, oil, etc.
On the other hand, we were greeted with some delightful Madeiran treats set on the kitchen table to introduce us to some of the delights of this island.
