This charming, clean, comfortable, and spacious property had everything we could have asked for in a retreat setting. We were eight women who write children's books, coming together for a five-day writing retreat, and this house checked so many boxes on our wish list. Eight bedrooms, a huge well-stocked kitchen so we could cook meals, three big wooden tables and eight cozy recliners where people could write, as well as a well equipped fitness room for daily exercise, lovely ponds in the yard (with frogs!), a clean, functioning hot tub, and a great fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Also - convenient parking for eight cars, which isn't always easy to come by. Communication with the owners was always prompt, friendly, and helpful.
A few additional details that will be helpful in your planning if you stay here:
-When I say well stocked kitchen, I mean REALLY well stocked. Spice cabinet, pots, pans, utensils, and even specialty items like cake pans. We realized after arriving that we had a birthday that week & even found some birthday candles in a kitchen drawer.
-The fitness room is also very well-equipped. Some of us brought weights from home & didn't need to. In addition to the elliptical, treadmill, and bike you see in the photo, there were yoga balls, mats, a couple of kettlebells (the heaviest was 35lbs) and hand weights that ranged from 3 pounds to 30 pounds.
-In case it's not totally clear from the photos, there are two bedrooms that are much larger than the others (lilac attic and the chalet) and those have private bathrooms. The other bedrooms share bathrooms, usually two bedrooms per bathroom. There's also a day bed in the big open living room/dining room. SO much space for people to spread out.
-For morning walkers/runners - there's a good walking route if you turn right out of the driveway and then take your first left turn off Rt. 11 onto Little Pond Rd. It's not as busy as the main road, and there's a nice big hill to walk up.
