The owner has recently renovated with a brand new BBQ and wood oven area, and also an outdoor kitchen and he is now studying the possibility of a WC close to the pool too. Many guests like that the pool gets shady by late afternoon as they are fed up by the heat, but I fully understand. For future guests, please note that whilst Garfagnana is mountainous and away from it all, buses move daily and lorries regularly, so the roads are fine for all size cars. The market town of Castelnuovo with all you need is less than a 10 mins drive; Barga just 25 mins; San Romano and the tree climbining/zip wire park 20 mins; various good restaurants within a 15 min drive ; Lucca 1 hour as examples. We do provide a detailed information pack to get the best out of the area, and Gragnanella is actually a really good location for exploring the Garfagnana itself too .

Thank you for your review. We are glad you spent an enjoyable 3 weeks at this lovely location! I am sorry you didn't find all the kitchen equipment but for the benefit of future guests, there is a cabinet in the kitchen with loads of cutlery in it for a few meals before needing to use the dishwasher. Other guests have mentioned this before, so I have asked the owner to point out where all the additional equipment is kept when guests arrive - hopefully he will remember to do so but if not, do ask. We went to inspect immediately we got your review, and some of the items detailed were in fact at the property but those that were not (including more wine glasses and larger towels) were purchased immediately for the comfort of subsequent guests - thank you for raising. . I am sorry you waited until you were home to raise these issues, since we are available all day every day to assist if there is anything missing in a property or any other problems (including communication if an owner has no English) and we would have ensured all the items missing were provided for you immediately. The property is a self catering property and provided at a very good price, so as per the Essential information sheet we sent you, kitchen supplies such as dishwasher tablets are not always left although an initial supply of toilet roll is always included. There was clearly a misunderstanding with the bed as all the beds were made up, but we were told that your group arrived with an additional guest who was not detailed on the booking form and there was no bed for them as the house is not advertised as sleeping more than 6 plus 2 . The owner was expecting 8 guests and 9 arrived...We understand the owner brought you an additional mattress, but had misunderstood that you bought your own linen for the unexpected guest. Again, we would have assisted with this issue if you had given us a quick call. So far as a weekly clean is concerned, I am afraid this is my fault - when I sent the original quote I erroneously calculated that your stay was for 2 full weeks. For a pro rata cost stay of less than 2 weeks we only offer cleaning at additional cost on request. A free weekly change and clean is offered as a matter of course for 2 weeks. I do wish you had called me since I would have arranged an immediate clean due to my error. Re the pool, we have never had an issue with this before - the owner is fully trained to clean the pool in accordance with health guidelines and a net is left for lifting insects between cleans. We have pool specialists on call for any pool problems guests may have... Anyway we are glad you enjoyed your stay overall and thank you for raising the issues you did which has enabled us to rectify missing items immediately. Best wishes Lorraine at tuscan-retreats
