We love staying at Island Retreat and at this unit in particular. It is clean, quiet, and so conveniently located. The recent renovations to the unit, particularly the kitchen are very nice. Island Retreat is a gem! It is very well maintained and has everything we need - pool, tennis/pickle ball courts, picnic area with BBQ grills, and laundry facilities. The beach is always stunning and is right over the sand dunes. We love sitting on the porch and listening to the waves. We are already planning our next trip!

Cute condo for a short stay

Very happy with the property, everything was clean and tidy. Loved the boardwalk to the beach right behind our place, though it was weird hearing people walk by at night. Happy that they’re so tight on security—honestly left our yeti in our truck bed one night and was relieved it was there in the morning. Would stay here again!

Clean, roomy with king size bed in bedroom and a day bed with trundle. Plenty of room to spread out.

Boardwalk to the beach with lighted pathway and outdoor shower area to wash off Sandy feet after a walk on the beach. Close to town and well maintained property.

Easy renting and check-in. Condo was clean. Comfy beds. Close proximity to the boardwalk to the beach was a bonus. Definitely will stay here again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our first visit to Port A and stay at Island Retreat. It will not be our last. Service was top notch, I greatly appreciated the email updates on how to enjoy our stay and conduct a contact-free check-in/out. We stayed in unit 125. It was clean, cozy and great walking distance to the beach; although, visitors who like to take a lot of equipment to the beach may want a cart or at least a cooler with wheels. We visited during the pandemic so we couldnt enjoy the restaurants and bars. The local grocery store (IGA) was well stocked and clean.

Wonderful weekend at the beach!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental unit is beautifully furnished and decorated. The kitchen includes everything we needed to cook our meals. The bed is super comfortable, and we loved the large walk-in shower. The location is great - just a walk over the dunes on the boardwalk and you are at the beach! All-in-all the place was very clean. We loved the tablet that provided info about the area! Two minor complaints: We were given plenty of towels but only 1 washcloth. Also, there were dead bugs in the patio door track. Neither of these would keep me from staying here again.

Reviewer Comments: Very nice recently remodeled unit on first floor with easy beach access by boardwalk. Unit was clean although there were a few six legged critters which is not unusual for the beach. Had some initial issues with WiFi that were resolved. The complex has much conatruction due to hurricane recovery. There are security agents monitoring people in and out. Nice bathroom appointments. Appliances all in working order. No ice maker in fridge and no ice trays. Had everything we need for 7 day stay.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: When we arrrived we had been told we could check in early but we did not arrive until 4:30 to find the property had not been cleaned. The condo itself was fine but we had not been advised that the entire property is still under repair construction with yellow tape on many areas and security at the entrance to allow entrance. The property as a whole is not being rented yet due to the repairs. We visited with one of the permanent property residence and realized that all property owners had to sign indicating that they would advise anyone staying there of the condition. we did not receive that information. While the interior of the property was fine, there were workman around all the buildings repairing, hammering, roofing, etc. The Island Retreat management was not renting out units yet and asked that we sign a release of liability for anything that might happen to us while on the property. The communication between the remote property management and the local management company was delayed and therefore not very satisfactory. Both attempted to help us but it was simply not a very workable arrangement. We left 2 days early and appreciate the refund of those days, but we feel like we were mislead about the conditions and charged for a condo that was in an area not yet ready to be rented. We make several trips a year to port a and have rented many condos, houses, etc. We have never left early but this was really disappointing. We are anxious to spend time there and had we known the real situation, we might have even agreed to it. But to not be told and then have to deal with the many problems was just not acceptable. We are looking for a place to rent for the month of October as we have done in the past. But we will not use Turn Key because of these many problems, too numerous to list in this short paragraph. You may contact me for further details.

Relaxing, Comfortable, and Convenient!

Amazing decor and wonderful look and feel! We loved being on the first floor and have a very short walk to the beach and the pool. We felt right at home and wish we could have stayed longer!

Nice little unit near the beach

This is a nice little unit that has been recently updated, and it was perfect for my small family. We spent quite a bit of time at the beach, which was only a short walk across the boardwalk from our door. We'll definitely look for this unit again when we return to Port A.

Nice!

Overall, a great property! Location cannot be beat. Very comfortable and relaxing. Were we to look to quibble, we would like a boost to the WiFi -- we could only get 1 bar much of the time.

Great quick trip!

The property is clean, comfy beds, has WiFi, and very close to the boardwalk to get to the beach (5-ish min walk apt to beach). The only downside is that are monster mosquitoes because of the dune, so bring the bug spray.

Great family vacation!

This is an adorable condo within walking distance of the beach. Up to date and very clean with plenty of amenities! Not far from downtown Port Aransas. We will definitely stay here again for our next Port A vacation!
