We booked as a family for a weekend break in October and whilst we loved Croyde and the location of the apartment we were very disappointed by the overall management of the booking and the apartment itself.
Communication was poor, I had to ask several times for a contact number in case of emergencies as the owner was apparently in Brazil and had left nothing by way of communication before leaving, it took some time to track someone down.
The apartment itself needed some TLC. All of the cutlery, crockery, and glassware was filthy and we had to wash everything before use as it was sticky to touch. Possibly not helped by a seemingly broken dishwasher. Whilst not averse to a bit of washing up this is not what was expected nor advertised.
One of the heaters in the main bedroom had a loose electrical socket because the plug was not screwed together properly, exposing electrics so not ideal for children of which we had 2 (toddlers) with us.
Also not child-friendly was the lack of gate on the decking which leads to a steep drop off and steps which is not ok for young children. The other ground floor apartments had gates so I am not sure what had happened here, it meant that we constantly had to watch them on the deck rather than just let them play. Which leads to the advertised "games and toys", one Jenga style game and 2 card games or at least that was all we found on the shelves which is poor if advertising (another) facility that barely exists.
One of the lampshades in room two was hanging off and not in anyway fixed, no full length mirror, no hairdryer (which would be helpful) and all of the furniture seems to be from Ikea. Nothing wrong with Ikea but this is NOT luxury.
The owners had mentioned a broken tile in the bathroom which had been temporarily fixed (badly) but the bathrooms themselves needed a total overhaul. One of the walls in the main bathroom seems to have been recently updated possibly for pictures but the remainder was fairly awful.
Lastly, my husband trod on some glass in the kitchen, thankfully him and not one of the children. When I relayed this back to the owner there was little by way of response.
The space and location of the apartment is lovely but the owners clearly don't look after it and to market it as luxury is totally inappropriate.
I would go back to Croyde but definitely stay somewhere else, such a shame.
